When Atlas woke up, both twins were awake and talking. He opened his eyes and two pairs of green eyes landed on him. He blushed and pulled the covers over his head.
The twins laughed as they pulled them down, they like to see his blushing face. Atlas sat and turned around, to face them.
He asked:
"What's wrong?"
He heard them talk about something.
Daniel looked at him and said:
"Your father is coming, and he'll have breakfast with us."
Atlas looked down, nodding. He stood up and said:
"We should get ready before he's here."
The twins could tell that something was bothering him, but they can also tell he would rather not talk right now. They all went to shower and prepared for breakfast.
After Atlas was dressed, he came out of his room wearing immaculate white robes. When the guards opened the door, the first thing he saw was the twins.
He walked with his hands behind his back and they both walked by his side. When they reached the dining hall, the guards opened the doors and they walked in.
Elijah, Silas, and Leah were already sitting around the table. Atlas walked to his father, who was at the head, and bowed.
"Father."
When he lifted his head, Elijah looked at his son's beautiful smile and his heart softened. He smiled.
"How are you, son?"
"I'm well, father, what about you? Is everything okay back home?"
Elijah could discern that he believed he was here because something happened. He reassured:
"Everything is well. Uncle is taking care of the church."
Atlas sighed in relief and took a step to the side. Daniel and Damien walked to Elijah and bowed. They simultaneously said:
"Elder priest."
Elijah smiled.
"High priest, Daniel how are you?"
"You can call me Damien, we're well, thank you."
Daniel smiled and they all sat around the table. Atlas sat next to Daniel and Damien next to Leah, facing them. Daniel and Damien instinctively filled Atlas' plate.
Once they were done, Atlas smiled at them and started eating. His father watched the whole scene in silence. Silas could tell that he was bothered by their relationship, and he doesn't blame him.
Atlas is truly a good person, and it's normal that his father would worry about him being taken advantage of. He knows his sons won't because he knows them, but Elijah doesn't. Plus he knows how close he is to Atlas, so he can understand.
Silas knows that the twins truly love him, and he can feel Atlas' affection for them. When Damien became a high priest, and he changed, he felt saddened by that, and he felt even worse when he saw that it cost him his best friend Daniel.
Before that, the two were so close, and he knew that they would share a partner. Those two are like one individual until they drifted apart. But then Atlas came and Damien became his old self, and their relationship became the same as before.
Turns out what they needed all along was Atlas. Hopefully, Elijah will see that. When they finished eating, Atlas walked to the study with Elijah. Elijah took a seat and Atlas sat in front of him.
He asked:
"How is it going? Do you feel uncomfortable in any way staying here?
He's been worried, he only let him go because he begged him. Atlas smiled and said excitedly:
"It's going well, father. I love it here, everything is so beautiful."
Elijah smiled, his son's joie de vivre has always been intoxicating.
"How are things with Daniel?"
Atlas opened his mouth to say something, but then he looked down.
He looked up again and murmured:
"I-I've actually been getting along with Daniel and Damien as well. They have both been very welcoming and thoughtful."
Elijah already knew that, he could tell that they were both in love with Atlas. Just the look in their eyes at breakfast was enough to see that. If it wasn't the way they doted on Atlas was.
He knows they love him now the question is, does he?
"Do you love them?"
Atlas looked at him just a few seconds, then away.
He seemed nervous at the idea of telling him. He took a breath and blurted out:
"I do, I love them both, and I don't want to choose. I know they love me as well, and I don't want to part from them."
Elijah looked into his son's hopeful eyes. It was clear that he wanted his blessing. What worries him is if the twins just want him for the thrill and then toss him out.
He sighed and said:
"Son, I don't think it's a good idea for you to be with both of them."
Atlas's heart sank. The only way for him to be with the twins until he sacrifices himself is if Elijah agrees. If he doesn't, then he can't because the original would never go against his father's wish.
It's already hard enough to have to leave this world when his husbands are here, but now even the few days he thought he had with them are gone.
Atlas looked at him sadly.
"I won't choose between them, so maybe it would be best to annul the wedding."
He won't lead them on, he owes them that much.
Elijah looked at his son, shocked. He's the one who said to do whatever it takes to make a deal with the Church of darkness. But right now, he's willing to give up on that because he won't choose between the twins.
Atlas stood up and said:
"Don't worry, I won't say a word until the final battle is over. Once it is I'm sure they'll und..."
Atlas couldn't finish his sentence, he knows that by that time he'll be dead already. Until then, he'll keep his distance and won't decide.
Elijah watched as Atlas left before he dismissed him. He clearly saw the pain in his eyes. He is surprised that he fell in love with Daniel and Damien. All his life, he only focused on the church of light.
He receives thousands of marriage proposals every month, but always refuses to focus on his work. For once, he fell in love. Why couldn't it have been with just Daniel?
He feels uncomfortable with the idea of the two of them and only one of him, he can't help it. Plus, who knows if they truly love his son and are willing to do anything for his safety?
No, I can't trust them it's for the best. Because he entrusted his wife to the wrong person, she died, and he won't do it ever again. He knows that later on, Atlas will understand.
When Leah heard approaching steps, she ran and hid in the corner. She watched as Atlas came out of the study sad. Leah smiled, relishing in his pain. She knew his father would never agree and that he would do whatever he says.
She heard him say that he will annul the marriage after the battle. Too bad you'll be dead by then. Leah only got her father involved because she wants him to keep his distance from the twins until he dies.
Meanwhile, she'll get closer to them. And if Atlas entertains the idea of still being with them despite their father's refusal, she'll make sure he dies before they reach the battlefield. Soon the twins and the church will be mine.
