Guidance's Lore Notes: Manifest Classifications

"This was a mistake," Guidance groaned to herself, her word document now sprawling with text despite her complaints. "I'm going too far with this stuff..."

It was ridiculous. After all, what use would a classification system be when her players wouldn't even see them or pick from one of them? At best, she could use it as in-universe lore. At worst, she just wasted a few hours of her time making content she wouldn't even use.

And she hated wasting her time.

"Ah well... I already wrote in this much. I might as well commit..." she shook her head, flexing her fingers as she readied herself for another hour of writing. "I'll just put it in a Codex somewhere... Make it so that it's written from Marquee's perspective..."

Letting out a sigh, Guidance let her fingers fly, her imagination running wild despite her best interests.

Manifests can be classified in two ways; by Origin, and by Somatic.

Based on Origin:

Used by the Three Great Nations, Manifests can be classified by which type of Delusion they stem from. And while there may be Manifests that can Originate from other sources, these are the five universally accepted Origins as extrapolated and mandated by Order 52 of the Marquean Council of Intellects during the Age of Greene.

Delusion of the Self

The most consistent of the Delusions, Manifests of this Origin deals with the Somatic's physical properties. Usually through appearance, strength, or senses, Manifests within this classification usually have the ability to augment or modify said properties to what the Somatic so desires.

It can also be said according to the study conducted that Somatics with Delusions of the Self tend to either be too conscious of their appearance or be vain or too proud of it otherwise. Recruit as per Standard Protocol.

Delusion of the Mind

This Origin deals with the Somatic's mental state or emotions. Manifests of this Origin usually rely heavily on the Somatic's state of mind and can vary wildly in terms of ability, though they usually only affect other people.

Somatics with this Delusion tend to be rather 'eccentric', full of neuroses, or rarely, downright insane. This makes them 'unpleasant' to work with. Approach with caution.

Delusion of Philosophy

Deals with the Somatic's personal beliefs and philosophy. Manifests of this Origin are the most varied in terms of ability and power ranging from laughably weak to overwhelmingly powerful. They usually affect either the Somatic or the environment.

Somatics with this Delusion are usually those of strong conviction, faith, or belief on their respective subjects. Recruit as per Standard Protocol.

Delusion of Science

The most coveted of all Manifest Origins, this deals with the Somatics' perception of Science and Technology. Manifests of this Origin are powerful in that they can single handedly propel a nation's technology by years or even decades. They are also usually very build focused and rarely do they ever affect the Somatic.

Somatics with this Delusion are usually jittery and always seem to be always working on something. Recruit at all cost.

Delusion of Fundamentals

The rarest of all classifications, this Origin deals with the Somatic's perception or beliefs on the basic concepts of the world such as time, space, creation, or decay. These Manifests are usually so powerful that their mere existence can spell the dawn of a new age or end the world.

There are only two reported Somatics in the history of Talkc that had this kind of Manifest; one of them is dead, the other one missing, and both of them were grade A lunatics. Be on the lookout for any sign of a possible Somatic and once properly identified, neutralize them.

Based on the Somatic:

Theorized by Edmund Freed shortly before the Age of Greene, he stated that Manifests can be categorized based on where the Somatic's desire came from which of the three parts of the Somatic's mind; the Id, Ego, and Super Ego. This categorization technique fell out of use when the classifications based on Origin were standardized by the three nations, but it is still used as a secondary measurement by Marquee to determine the Somatic's and Manifest's overall stability.

Id

This hypothesizes that the Manifest came from the Somatic's innermost desires or insecurities. In the modern classifications, this would usually encompass the Self, and The Mind, and Somatics within this category are mostly either very stable, or highly erratic.

Ego

This hypothesizes that the Manifest came from the Somatic's conscious desires or beliefs. In the modern classifications, this would encompass some Delusions of the Self and most of Philosophy and Science. Somatics within this category are very stable, though some are horribly stubborn.

Super Ego

This hypothesizes that the Manifest came from the Somatic's perceived desire of their immediate environment. This category can encompass all of the Origins and they are usually affected easily by peers or events and thus, are deemed highly unstable in terms of mental health.
