章節 57: a New place far away

Early the next morning, the group enjoyed a hearty breakfast with the playful bearwolf pups while their mother observed them calmly from a short distance. The cave was filled with the warm glow of the morning sun filtering through small openings, adding a serene atmosphere to the scene.

Levy glanced at Lilith, who had a curious expression on her face. "Lilith," she began, "I see you're wondering about the waypoint teleportation. How do we use it, and what will happen to this cave after we leave?"

Lilith nodded eagerly, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"Don't worry, Lilith," Levy assured with a gentle smile. "The teleportation is quite simple if you know the right method. However, it's a secret I'm not going to share just yet. Maybe if the goddess grants permission later, I can teach you the intricacies of it."

"Oh really? I don't mind not knowing how it works," Lilith replied with a shrug, accepting the mystery for now.

Ella and Elara, seated nearby, ate their breakfast quietly, listening intently to the conversation. The aroma of roasted meat and fresh berries filled the air, mingling with the earthy scent of the cave.

After they finished their meal, the group took a moment to say goodbye to the bearwolf pups, who nuzzled them affectionately, and to their watchful mother. The bond formed with these creatures was evident in the gentle farewells exchanged.

With a sense of anticipation, they approached the waypoint, a mystical structure embedded with ancient runes that glowed faintly. Levy stepped forward, her expression turning serious as she prepared for the incantation. She began murmuring an ancient chant, her voice resonating with a rhythmic cadence that seemed to awaken the magic within the waypoint.

The runes on the waypoint responded to Levy's chant, glowing brighter with each word she spoke. A soft hum filled the air, growing louder as the magic intensified. The light from the waypoint enveloped the group, creating a cocoon of radiant energy around them.

As the glow reached its peak, Levy concluded the incantation with a final, commanding word. The light surged, blinding them momentarily, and with a sudden flash, the cave disappeared from their sight. The familiar surroundings melted away, replaced by the sensation of being suspended in a void of pure energy.

In an instant, the group reappeared in a new location. The transition was smooth, as if they had simply stepped through a doorway. They found themselves standing in a lush, verdant forest, the air filled with the sounds of chirping birds and rustling leaves. The waypoint behind them, now dormant, indicated their successful arrival.

Levy turned to the others with a triumphant smile. "Welcome to our next destination," she announced, her eyes shining with excitement. "The adventure continues."

"This place looks familiar," Elara murmured to herself in a low voice.

As the group continued following Levy, who guided them ahead, she spoke up. "We need to travel for a day's time to reach a mountain where the next waypoint is located. After that, there won't be any more waypoints, so we'll have to travel the rest of the way on foot. It will be hard for Elara and Lilith, but for me and Ella, as faeries, it should be easy enough. We can just fly and rest on you two," she teased with a smile and a grin.

Ella nodded, agreeing with Levy's wise words. "Don't worry, we'll make sure to pace ourselves and help when needed."

Elara chuckled softly. "I'm sure we'll manage. This journey has already been full of surprises."

The forest around them was vibrant with life. Sunlight streamed through the canopy, casting dappled shadows on the forest floor. The air was fresh and filled with the scent of pine and wildflowers. Birds sang melodious tunes from the treetops, and occasionally, small animals rustled in the underbrush.

As they walked, Levy kept a watchful eye on their surroundings. "Stay close and keep an eye out for any signs of danger. This forest may seem peaceful, but it can be deceiving."

Lilith walked beside Elara, her eyes scanning the area. "It's hard to believe we're on such an important journey. Sometimes it feels like a dream."

Elara nodded. "I know what you mean. But every step we take brings us closer to our goal."

Hours passed as they traversed the forest, the landscape gradually changing. The trees became sparser, and the ground started to incline slightly. They took short breaks to rest and drink water, ensuring they maintained their strength for the journey ahead.

As the sun began to set, they found a small clearing to set up camp. Levy and Ella flew up to gather some firewood, while Lilith and Elara prepared a simple meal. The sky turned shades of pink and orange, casting a warm glow over their campsite.

Once the fire was crackling and their meal was ready, the group sat around the fire, enjoying the warmth and the food. They shared stories and laughter, the camaraderie strengthening their bond.

Before they settled down for the night, Levy reminded them of the plan. "We'll start early tomorrow. The mountain is still a good distance away, and we need to reach the next waypoint before nightfall."

With that, they lay down to rest, the sounds of the forest lulling them to sleep. The stars twinkled above, and the moon cast a gentle light over their campsite, promising a new day filled with adventure and challenges.
