Upon grabbing the branch with one hand and the other hand gripping Naina's left arm to stop her from falling, Ivan pulled her body up with a jerk of his arm. Naina's legs slid to the side and then down as she was turned up again by Ivan.

"Grab my shoulder, quick!" Ivan said, but Naina's body involuntarily reacted to save her from falling. Her free hand automatically moved to grab Ivan's shoulder just as he had told her.

Naina held onto his shoulders as Ivan grabbed her waist after putting her the other arm around his neck.

All of that happened in a matter of some seconds. They finally saved themselves from falling down, or so they thought.

As they say, misfortune is a bitch, and it comes in pair.
