As soon as he pushed the door open, a smell hit his nose which suggested that the area inside was full of dust and had not been touched in years. This made sense considering both of those things were true, this was not the actual dungeon, as it was only the entrance area which meant it did not automatically regenerate like the real dungeon.
Inside of the entrance area was a large hole in the ground which Leo climbed into with Reaper following behind him. Eventually reached the bottom of the hole, and immediately the change from the regular world to the dungeon was made apparent.
A barrier was created in the hole he had gone into the dungeon through, and he would only be able to leave at the rest floors in between every five floors, the safe floor right before the boss room, or once he completed the dungeon entirely.
He started moving forward which was the only way that there was on this floor of the dungeon, and after walking for a minute or two, a create came into view. It was the weakest and most common monster in the world, a lesser goblin.
These monsters were easily recognisable by their green skin, short stature and bad posture. Unlike normal goblins, who were taller and more upright, the lesser goblins were much weaker than even humans with non-combat Classes.
Leo whispered to Reaper, "See that lesser goblin over there? Carefully creep up behind it and use your fire bite skill on the monster's neck."
Once he said this, reaper nodded and started his attack, he slowly walked while keeping his frame low the ground and reached the back of the lesser goblin without being noticed. Once he was in attacking range, Reaper sprung up and heat started emanating from him as his teeth glowed a bright red and became enveloped in fire.
As the temperature changed, the lesser goblin turned to see what had happened, but it was too late. Reaper's teeth sunk into the neck of the lesser goblin and tore a chunk out of it while leaving the remaining area scorched and slightly on fire.
The lesser goblin's body fell to the ground and disappeared with a slight glow before leaving loot behind. In place of the goblin was a slab of meat and nothing else. However, this was what Leo really wanted to obtain, as him and Reaper needed to eat. The meat was not cooked, so Leo asked Reaper to use fire claws and heat it up.
As the fire was very hot, this did not take too long and both Leo and Reaper started to eat the meat which they split in two. After finishing their food, the two continued their journey onwards and moved further into the dungeon.
Along the way through the first floor, they encountered nine other lesser goblins and killed them all in similar ways, with some leaving more meat and others leaving behind some wood which was set on fire to create light as well as to cook food over it.
Eventually, they reached the end of the first floor which meant there was another hole to climb down. Once he reached the bottom of this hole, another barrier was created behind Leo to make sure he could not hide on the first floor and the dungeon would have time to regenerate.
He was aware that Reaper and himself must have levelled up, and therefore he would have more loot boxes to open, but he wanted to save them all for the first safe floor as he did not want to be sneak attacked by any monsters.
The second floor was similar to the first, except there were regular goblins, instead of lesser goblins, which were almost twice as strong. However, as Reaper would have levelled up and therefore become stronger, he did not believe that this would be a large issue.
Instead of the stealth tactic, he chose for a distraction tactic this time, and once they found the first target Leo put this plan into action. He shouted at the goblin in hopes of alerting it of his presence, which worked. Once the goblin was charging at Leo, Reaper jumped out of the shadows and used fire claws to make a large set of claw marks in the back of the goblin which killed it instantly.
Leo and Reaper proceeded to use this method to kill the remaining fourteen goblins on this floor which also gave them the loot of eight pieces of meat, four piles of wood, and three rusty daggers. As the daggers were not helpful to Leo, he only chose to keep one of them in case he was in a desperate situation.
After going down another floor, Leo and Reaper reached the third floor which was filled with slimes. Although they may seem weaker than even lesser goblins, they had the ability to digest anything that went inside of them if given enough time, as well as physical attacks being ineffective against them. Luckily, Reaper's fire infused physical attacks would do the job and the fire element was the main reason for this.
Instead of playing somewhat dirty, Leo and Reaper instead just charged through the slimes which did not have great attack power. The sudden attacks from Reaper's fire claws sliced the slimes in half and prevented regeneration which killed them. All twenty of the slimes on the third floor were easily taken out by this method, and left behind edible balls of water. This was very helpful as Leo and Reaper needed to eat, but they also needed to drink.
The end of this floor was the same as the others, with a hole in the ground which led to the next floor. The fourth floor contained a variant of the slimes. The metal slimes, which were a silvery-grey colour had the ability to make themselves as hard as iron. However, they could also return parts of their body to the original state if they needed to.
As the metal slimes were made of metal, they were susceptible to being damaged by heat which was good for Leo and Reaper. Much like they had with the previous slimes, Reaper's fire claws were used to slash through slimes even if they had to penetrate a layer of metal this time. Instead of only taking one attack, the metal slimes took three fire scratches to kill.
The loot that the twenty five metal slimes produced was not at all helpful to Leo, as it was just clumps of unrefined metal ores. Leo just left it behind as he had no way of storing it or using it.
He made his way own the hole at the end of the fourth floor and found himself on the fifth floor which was less dim than the other floors. Leo realised why once he saw the monsters that resided on this floor. They were high goblins which had a higher level of intelligence and strength than regular goblins. This meant they were able to create crude torches which were set alight by what was most likely two stones being smashed together.
The high goblin that Leo found was holding a short sword which was not rusted, unlike the daggers he had found before. However, a goblin is still a goblin, and Reaper managed to mow them down with ease by using fire scratch on the backs of their knees which made them unable to move, and then using fire bite on their necks which finished them off.
After killing thirty of these high goblins, he received one of the short swords which he swapped his rusty dagger for, and also small pieces of gold which he shoved in his pockets due to their high value and low weight.
Once he went down the hole into the safe room below, Leo noticed that it was much brighter than even the areas with torches on the fifth floor, and that instead of another hole in the ground to reach the sixth floor, there was a large door with carvings covering it. Leo recognised this as the boss room which meant he was very close to the end of the dungeon.
He had previously planned to open his loot boxes on the safe floor, but seeing the boss room in front of him made Leo want to get it over with and defeat the boss first. That way he would have gained more levels and therefore more loot boxes to open in one go.
He rested for five minutes, before standing up with Reaper by his side and pushing open the boss room's door. Once he was inside, the doors closed without any warning, and Leo was faced with the boss monster.
