"Guess you're not the only one who thinks hockey sticks make a great weapon," Oliver remarked as he stared at the group of students in the room.
"Yeah, seems so," I acknowledged. The four of them were already armed and ready for battle. Cute. Hope they don't die.
With our makeshift weapons in hand, we made our way down the narrow, dimly lit hallway. The sound of chaos echoed from below, growing louder with each step. I couldn't help but wonder how this nightmare had unfolded so quickly.
As we descended the staircase to the second floor, the grim reality of the situation became undeniable. The once-familiar school had transformed into a nightmarish battleground. Lockers stood ajar, and blood stains marked the walls. The air was heavy with an acrid stench, a sickening mix of fear and decay.
Oliver, Hannah, and I kept a close watch on the group of students we had encountered. They were a mix of terrified faces, determination, and a shared resolve to survive. Our collective goal was clear—to reach safety, whatever that meant now.
The second floor was a war zone. Broken windows allowed unnatural creatures to enter the building, and the panicked screams of fellow students echoed through the hallways. We moved cautiously, avoiding any encounters with the grotesque figures that lurked nearby.
Eventually, we reached the main entrance. It was barricaded with overturned tables and debris, a desperate attempt to keep the horrors outside at bay. Oliver surveyed the makeshift barricade and assessed our chances.
"We need to clear a path," he said, his voice resolute. "If we can make it to the back exit, we might have a better shot at getting out of here."
Nods of agreement followed. With our hockey sticks at the ready, we began the grim task of dismantling the barricade. The sound of shuffling footsteps grew closer, and we knew that time was running out.
As we worked in tense silence, the realization dawned on me that we were no longer just high school students. We were survivors in a world we couldn't comprehend, fighting for our lives against an enemy that defied logic.
