章節 4: Chapter 4: Learning the Game

The next morning, Alex woke up to the soft sound of rain pattering against the boarded-up windows of the abandoned building. For a moment, he stared at the ceiling, the realization of his situation settling back in. He was still in the Marvel Universe, still without real powers, and still far from the points needed to spin the Silver Wheel.

With a sigh, Alex sat up, feeling the stiffness in his muscles from sleeping on the cold, hard floor. He rubbed his face, trying to shake off the grogginess, and stood up, stretching his arms. Today, he needed a solid plan—something more than just wandering around hoping for a random robbery to stop. He needed to be strategic.

First things first: food, shelter, and basic necessities. He couldn't keep using the Minor Illusion ability to conjure fake money. That trick would only last so long before someone caught on. Plus, if he started using it too much, he risked exposure. The goal was to stay as low-key as possible while earning points.

"Alright, system," Alex muttered under his breath. "Time to show me what you've got."

He summoned the system panel again, which appeared before him like a hologram.

[Points: 15]

[First Spin: 50 points for Silver Wheel]

Alex grimaced. Still a long way to go. He glanced at the abilities section, hoping for some inspiration. Aside from Minor Illusion, the panel didn't show any new abilities or perks unlocked yet. He figured he'd need more points to unlock anything significant, which meant interfering with the plotline was essential.

But the key to survival in this universe wasn't just about getting powers—it was about being smart. In a world where people like Tony Stark and Nick Fury could trace someone's existence through a few phone calls, and gods like Thor or Doctor Strange could detect even the faintest magical disturbance, Alex knew he needed to remain a ghost.

"Time to blend in," Alex said, walking out of the abandoned building into the rainy streets of Hell's Kitchen.

---

Hell's Kitchen was busy in the morning, its streets teeming with early risers, construction workers, and shop owners opening their stores. The familiar sound of traffic and pedestrians filled the air, making the neighborhood feel alive. But Alex knew better—underneath this bustling exterior was a cesspool of crime and corruption. This was Daredevil's territory, and where there was Daredevil, there was trouble.

As he strolled through the wet streets, his mind wandered to the potential encounters he could have. Matt Murdock—Daredevil—was probably still operating in the shadows, keeping tabs on the local crime bosses. The Hand, Wilson Fisk, and other underworld players would eventually make their moves. If Alex could subtly interfere in some of their activities, maybe he could rack up points without drawing the attention of anyone major just yet.

As he approached a small deli on the corner, Alex's thoughts were interrupted by a commotion up ahead. Two men in dark hoodies were huddled around a third guy, who looked like he was pleading with them. The conversation grew heated, and Alex could feel tension in the air. He recognized the signs—it was an extortion shake-down.

"This is perfect," Alex muttered to himself. "Stay low, intervene just enough to earn points, and get out before anyone sees."

He quickly surveyed the scene. The deli was still closed, and the few pedestrians walking by didn't seem to notice what was happening. It was the perfect opportunity to intervene, but he needed to be smart about how he did it. He couldn't risk revealing himself or getting hurt. Without actual powers, he was still vulnerable.

He ducked into a nearby alley and crouched behind a dumpster, his mind racing. What can I use here? His Minor Illusion ability came to mind again. It wasn't combat-related, but maybe he could use it to create a distraction or intimidate the thugs into backing off.

Alex took a deep breath and focused. He knew the limits of the Minor Illusion ability—it could only create small, temporary illusions, but that might be enough to scare these guys off. He visualized the scene: a police officer walking up the street, calling out to the thugs. If they believed the illusion for even a few seconds, it might be enough to send them running.

He concentrated, picturing the details in his mind: the blue uniform, the badge, the stern voice. He felt the familiar tingle in his hands as the illusion formed, and when he opened his eyes, the fake cop was walking right up to the group.

"Hey! What's going on here?" the illusory officer shouted.

The two thugs froze, their heads whipping around in surprise. For a brief moment, Alex saw the fear in their eyes. They clearly weren't expecting any interruptions.

"Crap, cops!" one of them muttered. Without another word, they both took off running down the street, leaving the victim standing there in stunned silence.

Alex let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. It had worked. The illusion had been enough to scare them off. He quickly dismissed the fake officer, making sure no one else had seen the trick, and stepped out of the alley.

The man they had been harassing looked up, confused. He was a middle-aged guy, probably the owner of the deli they were shaking down.

"Are… are they gone?" he asked, still shaken.

"Yeah," Alex replied casually. "They won't be bothering you again."

The man blinked, looking at Alex with a mix of relief and gratitude. "I don't know who you are, kid, but you just saved me a world of trouble. Those guys have been harassing me for weeks."

Alex gave him a nod and a tight smile. "Just in the right place at the right time."

Before the deli owner could ask any more questions, Alex turned and walked away. He didn't want to stick around for too long in case someone came back. As he rounded the corner, he glanced at the system panel that had appeared in front of him.

[Points earned: 5]

Alex frowned slightly. It wasn't much, but it was something. Between yesterday's diner incident and this, he was slowly inching his way toward his first spin.

[Total points: 20]

Only 30 more points until he could spin the Silver Wheel. It wasn't going to be easy, but Alex knew he had to keep playing it smart. Small, subtle interventions like this would eventually add up, and if he could keep under the radar, he'd avoid the major players.

---

As the day progressed, Alex continued wandering the streets, looking for more low-key opportunities to earn points. He helped an elderly woman carry her groceries, stopped a pickpocket in a crowded subway station, and even gave some tourists directions. These small acts didn't earn him much, but every bit helped.

By the time the sun began to set, Alex was feeling a little more confident. He checked his system panel again:

[Points: 25]

It wasn't much, but he was halfway to his first spin. That was all that mattered.

However, as Alex walked back toward Hell's Kitchen, he couldn't shake the feeling that something bigger was coming. The day had been quiet, too quiet. He knew from watching the Marvel movies and reading the comics that nothing stayed calm in New York for long.

And sure enough, just as he turned the corner onto a quieter street, he saw something that made his stomach drop.

A group of heavily armed men were unloading crates from the back of a black van, their movements quick and precise. They wore tactical gear, the kind that screamed "mercenaries," and Alex instantly knew they weren't ordinary criminals. This was organized, and it had the potential to be bad—really bad.

Alex ducked behind a parked car, his heart racing. Okay, this is it. Do I get involved?

He hesitated. On one hand, this could be the point jackpot he needed to finally spin the wheel. On the other hand, these guys looked dangerous. If he messed up here, it could mean the end of the line for him.

His hands clenched into fists as he watched the scene unfold. The crates they were moving looked military-grade, maybe even experimental tech. This wasn't a simple robbery; this was something bigger.

Alright, Alex, he thought. This is where the game starts for real.

Taking a deep breath, Alex prepared himself. He had no powers yet, but maybe—just maybe—he could pull this off.
