It wasn't like Sebastian still didn't go to the academy but it had really been a while since he stepped inside the halls.
"You know, you should really go to class again. Training is good and all, but didn't you want to become first place? I've heard from the head professor that you haven't attended a single class in a good while."
Amy's concern was natural. Though not as prominent among normal people, 『Inheritors』 in their teens have a requirement to attend school because with the power they held, they needed to be taught the right way to use it.
Finding an『Inheritor』 that hasn't gone to school was more difficult than finding one who had.
"At the very least, I won't fail, don't worry."
If it was Sebastian's promise, then Amy was inclined to believe it.
"Alright. But, be ready for an earful in case you do fail!"
The two of them made some small talk while walking. Only Amy knew the way and she hadn't told Sebastian where he was being led. Nevertheless, he still trusted her. If he were to be given a chance to list people that he trusted would never harm him under any circumstances, Amy and his mother would be at the top of the list.
Sebastian suddenly patted Amy's head gently as to not mess up her hair and whispered, "I love you."
"Don't do that here..." Amy chided him but she didn't show any signs of being angry. Instead, she leaned in closer and pecked his cheek, "I love you too."
"...What happened to 'don't do that here'?"
He had only whispered into her ear but she actually kissed him on the cheek!
"Are you complaining?"
The meaning hidden behind her words was, "I won't kiss you anymore if you answer yes."
Sebastian shook his head several times in exaggeration. "Of course not! In fact, I'll welcome another one. On a different place is most encouraged."
Amy rolled her eyes and continued walking.
"You've become such a lecher ever since our first kiss. Always thinking about hugging, kissing, and sometimes even sniffing..."
She wasn't technically wrong. He already had such thoughts before but only after they had confirmed their feelings was he able to be more open with his desire.
"That goes both ways."
Amy snorted and held his hand.
Though she looked like she was ignoring Sebastian, in truth, her heart was filled with unease.
For some reason, it felt like that if she were to let go, then he'd disappear somewhere. It wasn't the first time she had that feeling and almost every time, that sudden feeling proved to be right.
Before Sebastian had gone missing in the forest, she felt a huge surge of unease and her thoughts always returned to Sebastian. Her instinct proved to be correct as Sebastian disappeared and she immediately conducted the search.
Will this time be the same?
Unaware of her concerns, Sebastian began thinking about where they were going. There weren't many places on campus that he hadn't been.
They stopped in front of one of the teacher's offices. Amy knocked thrice and called out, "professor?"
"Come in."
When they opened the door, the professor inside turned his head from the book on his desk to the door.
"Ah, Ms. Luna, please come in. Mr. Sol, welcome."
When they sat down, the professor cleared his throat.
"So, what brings the two of you to my humble abode?"
It wasn't exactly his home, but seeing as how most of his time was spent here, then to him, it was.
"I want to put Sebastian under the Lightning Spear's tutelage. I know you have a way to contact her, professor Briggs."
The shock couldn't be hidden by the glasses Briggs wore.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about."
Briggs tried to act like he didn't know but his actions betrayed him. Perhaps realizing that his agitation was plain to see, he put on a pleading expression.
"Look, I've already stopped contacting her. It's been several years! If I contacted her just to put someone under her wing, she'd kill me!"
Seeing how flustered Briggs was, Sebastian was taken aback. He had yet to take a class with this professor but he had heard of his reputation of being very calm and collected. Not once had the professor broken under pressure.
"You don't have to worry, professor Briggs. You'll only tell us of her location or a way to contact her. And if you have neither of those, then where to find her."
"Even then! I'm one of the only few people who can contact her, she'll know the information was from me!"
He was firm in his stance and it didn't seem like he would give in anytime soon.
Sebastian was about to dissuade Amy but when he met her eyes, she could see the absolute confidence in her gaze and shut his mouth.
Amy turned her serene eyes towards Briggs, "is that so? What a shame. Well, I'll go ask my other informants."
Briggs was still skeptical seeing as how Amy lost all of her persuasive power in the blink of an eye but he still breathed a sigh of relief as he had just escaped a dilemma.
"I'm sure they'll be ecstatic to find out that the Lightning Spear's former lover, and a way to contact her is right here in the kingdom! What's more, he's right under their noses in the same city!"
Briggs stared at Amy like she was a monster and he couldn't help but open and close his mouth a few times. Seeing as how he was still stuck in his internal struggle, Amy frowned and stood up.
"Let's go, Sebastian."
Amy took Sebastian by the hand and led him outside.
Before they could go anywhere near the door, there was an urgent exclamation coming from Briggs, "wait!"
Biting his lip, he begrudgingly spoke, "I'll... tell you..."
Amy turned around as if she had only just walked in and sat down. Sebastian and Briggs could only stare at her in surprise, though the latter also showed fear.
...
"I never knew you were actually such a villain. You managed to even threaten a professor..."
"Hey! It's not like I do this kind of stuff all the time! Besides, I threatened the professor for your sake."
"'Not like I do this kind of stuff all the time' you say... Doesn't that mean you still do it quite a fair bit?"
"Anyway, since she's somewhere in Tidas, we can visit her when we go there. In the meantime, I'll show you some techniques."
They headed towards the gymnasium. As the student council president, she could do things like renting the gymnasium pretty easily.
Luckily, there weren't any people there.
"Take a bit of distance from me."
Amy walked to the center and began gathering energy around her body.
"Although we don't exactly make these techniques evident, coming up with names to them will create a subconscious gesture in one's mind."
She faced one of the walls and raised her arm, "Crescent Light."
Light gathered around Amy's hand. Then, she slashed down with her hand and a crescent light cut through the outer layer of the wall.
"That is one of my techniques. Normally, creating light in the shape of a crescent is difficult. I've already done it a few times before and by applying a name to it, I can help my body and energy form a gesture."
Amy walked towards Sebastian and held out her hand. Sebastian subconsciously took her hand and tilted his head.
"That's what you call a subconscious gesture. I've held out my hand to you plenty of times and your subconscious reaction is to hold my hand. It's the same concept with the technique but it's also a bit different. Well, it's a lot more simple with energy but weapons are different.
"And, you don't necessarily have to utter the name each time you use it. The Lightning Spear is a 『Inheritor』 that managed to meld her spear with energy and create techniques. Because of her, many 『Inheritors』 have begun creating techniques with weapons as well."
Amy walked to one of the weapon racks and held a wooden sword.
"I've only managed to make about half a dozen techniques but with these techniques, your strength will improve by leaps and bounds. Grand Judgment."
The entire wooden sword was illuminated in light and she aimed it forward.
Immediately, a giant beam of light shot towards the wall and exploded. Its power wasn't something that Sebastian could match even if he poured his entire energy in.
'Gilbert isn't anywhere near her level of power...'
He had defeated Gilbert because of Balanos' methods and techniques but even with her help, Sebastian doubted if he would even last a minute against Amy. Her title as the most talented among the youth wasn't just for show.
Amy turned her head, "this is the power of a technique. Your repeated gestures will become easier to do and it would take you less energy."
A few seconds later, the enhanced wall that could take Amy's Crescent Light, broke apart because of her Grand Judgment. Now, there was a giant hole in the wall that could fit a dozen people.
"Oops... That's going to be... a little troublesome..."
Amy sighed.
