Heimdall POV:
As I do my duty of watching the nine realms as I always do, I see the scene I have become familiar with on Midgard. A human with the ability to change into different species with nothing, but a piece of tech on his arm. The man is by all accounts average except for his fascinating ability to shapeshift that would even eclipse Loki's skills in the art.
I suppress a frown at the thought of the prince. Ever since he figured out how to hide from my gazes, I could feel the smugness radiated from him. I am honestly surprised the prince hasn't gotten up and decided to see the human for himself to study or maybe rob the thing he uses to transform.
My first attempts at prodding him about a human beating him in an area he is widely skilled in were only met with a scoff.
"You shouldn't overestimate someone's ability, Heimdall and claiming a mortal is better than me in an art that I have been using for decades. Just because I can beat your voyeur eyes doesn't mean someone can beat me in something I specialize in. Not gonna lie it's quite unbecoming of an Asgardian peeper such as yourself."
I wanted to bash his head in at the comment but restrained myself. The prince has a reputation for getting on the people's nerves and our relationship has never been the best. I dislike him for being able to avoid my sights and him being smug about it; he dislikes me for using my sight on him.
I dismiss my thoughts on my least favourite prince and think of the newest problem on Midgard. The man known as Vilgax is busy expanding the Jarldom he recently acquired somewhere in Norway.
So far the Allfather has decided to not intervene as it is not an otherworlder, that is causing havoc on Midgard. My king has stated he wanted the device but had doubts about whether it could be removed and I know to trust my king's judgement.
Loki Pov:
I stood on a mountain as I stared at Vilgax, the current holder of the Omnitrix in the distance. In the looks department he is average, with brown hair and black eyes, 6 feet and muscular, but not Thor's level.
Above-average intelligence, but not genius level. His best qualities in my opinion are that he is ambitious and hardworking, two qualities that work great together.
I may have used a hypnosis spell to convince him that his name is Vilgax as well as everyone who knows him. I wanted to name him Ben Tennyson since I thought it would be funny, but it didn't fit in with the time period and Vilgax isn't too bad. I find it humorous that in the show that Vilgax coveted the Omnitrix, but here it gets handed to him on a silver platter.
Vilgax has come far in a few months from a commoner to a jarl of an expanding territory. I was currently invisible watching him fighting a war against a nearby jarldom. I am surprised the borderings jarls haven't started an alliance yet because it looks like Vilgax ambition won't be sated by a few conquests.
One of the restrictions I have put on the Omnitrix for him was that it can only be used for a limited time of 20 minutes and the cooldown is 5 minutes afterwards, so he wouldn't be too overpowered.
My initial plan was to only cause a bit of chaos which would give me entertainment, but I figured I could send him into space with the goals of procuring the genetic material to other alien races and I wouldn't even have to lift a finger. Thor has other duties and different morals so I can't depend on him all the time.
The funny thing is that Vilgax would do it of his own volition since I can easily use the Omnitrix to show he only needs the DNA of the species to be able to change into them, but that is for later as I am momentarily surprised by what comes out a portal.
A rogue sorcerer, how interesting, I thought to myself.
Vilgax Pov:
I look at my army and then the opposing side. They had a hundred more warriors than us, but I believe we can still defeat them easily.
It doesn't take long before our side begins fighting. I quickly use the Omnitrix to turn into what the device called an Asgardian. It is my most used form since it is inconspicuous as it looks like my normal form except my power is boosted by a lot.
Once I transform it doesn't take long before I rush the enemy with speed far above human level. I equip two bastard swords, normally dual-wielding would be a fool errand, but I have more than enough strength in the form and immediately begin hacking the opposing side.
I weave through the enemies cutting away the enemies with my swords while flawlessly dodging enemies arrows or sword swings. 19 minutes in and I single-handedly reduced the enemy number, which meant that we had more warriors than them at the moment.
My soldiers roar at my display and I move back a bit since it is almost time that I would be switched back to my original form. It didn't take long for my soldiers to take care of the enemy.
We immediately enter the city and it doesn't take long for us to subjugate the capital of the enemy jarldom. I looked at the device on my wrist and reminisced about how I got it.
Flashback:
Quietly traversing through the forest I look for deer footprints as I am hunting for game to feed my family and myself. When I finally find a deer, I equip my bow and prepare to kill it. As I was about to shoot the deer, something came from the sky and shot through the deer's neck, decapitating it.
I was immediately cautious, but after a few minutes of nothing happening curiosity won out. I approached the landing spot and jumped in fright when something attached itself to my wrist.
"Aghh, what the fuck!" I yelled out in surprise.
Uselessly flaying my arms around to try and get it off. I take a deep breath to assess my situation.
'Welcome, host of the Omnitrix.' I look around at where the voice is coming from. It doesn't take me long to figure out how it is coming from my head.
"What are you and why have you done this to me." I ask out loud.
'Host has no need to speak for you to hear me, I am the Omnitrix. I have connected to you allowing you to use my capabilities.'
'Why have you decided to use me as your vassal?'
'My master was betrayed by his envious brother and he decided to send his greatest creation away, so it doesn't fall in his brother's hands. Fortunately, his brother was after something else and has no knowledge that I exist.' The Omnitrix states.
***
I was still dubious about the situation for a while, but the Omnitrix faithfully serving me since then relieved most of my queries. The device allowed me to turn into several different creatures and the only downside was the timer.
It allowed me to go from a normal hunter to becoming a jarl. With the jarl position I could have even larger luxury, so I don't regret stumbling on it.
Before I am done reminiscing, suddenly everyone around me disappears.
"Quite the fascinating artifact you have there, Jarl Vilgax. It would be a shame if it somehow got stolen." I look at a man in what appears to black ropes.
I silently assess how big of a threat he is, but as he somehow got rid of the people around us, I don't doubt he could kill me. Even though I am uneasy about what could be my death here, I don't show any fear even if I inwardly feel some.
"If you are here with ill intent, don't expect to take me without a fight." I said.
His hands begin glowing orange and he somehow manages to form a spear.
"So you have chosen death, I say."
Luckily 5 minutes have already passed so I can use the Omnitrix again. Just as I transform into an Asgardian wolf he launches the spear at me. I quickly dodge before picking up a pillar with my jaws and throwing it in his direction.
He uses his orange energy as a defence to block the pillar, but it is quite heavy so it breaks his defence, but he moves before it could move him. I move away towards him and intend to rip him to shreds.
He blocks me with what I assume can only be magic, but I am quite strong so it doesn't delay me for long. He moves back and sends barrages of spears of magic at me. Some hit me, but fortunately, I am quite durable, but it doesn't mean it didn't lightly injure me. I kept looking for an opportunity to attack, but he is smart to stay back.
Getting nowhere with someone who will only use ranged attacks, I transformed into a race that can manipulate metal. I immediately bombarded him with every type of metal around him. It seems he can't create a shield all around him, so I manipulated my sword and let it fly behind and embed it in his back.
I sigh in relief before moving to finish him. As I move to finish he disappears and everyone appears again.
Loki:
As I look at the fight I have to admit I am a bit disappointed in the sorcerer's skills, but I guess he wasn't high on the totem pole. Luckily I could teleport to my Omnitrix otherwise I couldn't have gotten into the mirror dimension.
I immediately kick Vilgax out before moving to the downed sorcerer. My hand moves to his head and I scoff at his non-existent mental defences. Even Thor has better defences since the lightning somewhat protects him.
I look at his every memory to find out about the type of magic he uses as well as how he found out about the Omnitrix. Apparently, he just heard a rumour about an undefeatable man, spied on him from the mirror dimension.
He has also been a sorcerer for only a few years and didn't have the time to collect a lot of knowledge. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Getting everything that is useful I kill him before going back home. At least my champion is somewhat competent, all he needs is more experience than he can become my personal bounty hunter for unique specimens.
Writing battles are hard.
