The Palace - Moments Later

“Ah,” Phillen said. “You haven’t heard the legends of the purple wolf goddess.” He glanced back at Gabriella. “Let me tell you.”

Standing over seven feet tall, he looked like the most distinguished and refined man Sophie had ever seen as he leaned against the balcony’s entryway.

He set his glass down on a small clawfoot refectory table at the center of the balcony before he began. “The purple wolf was said to be our greatest warrior. She was supposedly our protector against unimaginable forces from the fae realm.

“The legends say she could bewitch with her eyes. And that with her blessing, our warriors could become invincible!” He finished the last part with a flourish of his hand.

He scooped up his wine glass, taking another sip. He too seemed tipsy as he had been indulging for a while with them.

When he pulled the glass away from his mouth, his eyes were distant. “She was said to be wild. That she was like no other wolf.”
