"You are brilliant," Adi said reverently to Veer. "Thank you. No one can fool you."

Veer kissed his younger sibling's brow. "It would take Dharmaditya Rana Thakur to fool me."

Adi blushed and climbed into Veer's bed, as he had been doing since Veer's return. The older Rana Thakur brother sat at the edge of the bed and carded his fingers through the younger's dark curls until he fell asleep. Once he was sure Adi was fast asleep, he curled up on the couch. The little boy still had nightmares, and Veer was reluctant to leave him alone.

Adi ended up in Mayo. Veer was relieved, as he still had many contacts at Mayo who revered him, and were happy to look after his little brother for him. Adi called them his minions – but he had learnt from Veer to keep his thoughts to himself until it served a purpose. However, unlike Veer, who had a natural tendency to be quiet, Adi was a naturally exuberant person. His brain needed activity. He needed to move around.
