章節 55: End of Chapter 18

"The only thing I know is that they're fucking dangerous. A group of seven Alphas? They'd pulverise any guide into smithereens," Rue shrugged with a laugh. "If I wanted to be safe, I'd run if I saw them." Halcyon was quiet after that, watching as Rue finished the last crumb, licking his fingers. The dart of his tongue had him jolting back to life, logic flooding his mind.

"That's why I'm here," Halcyon assured.

Truly, Rue had nothing to worry about, there was no way he'd die guiding Halcyon. Halcyon was made for Rue. His beasts formed in his name. Halcyon's body was built this way to protect him. Surely, guiding would be safe? A rush of concern filled him, teeth nibbling on his bottom lip.

He would have to be careful when he made love to Rue. He'd have to hold his animals back, and ensure that Rue was comfortable and well cared for. Perhaps he should order some handcuffs, a chain to the bed seemed like a good idea for safety—

"Ah, please. We're not going to meet Seirios on our route to school," Rue laughed, then cursed. "Motherfucker."

Halcyon's eyes were wide, nose twitching. But he didn't have to look to know who they were, the two Alphas perfumed like men in love. The caramel and chocolate twisted in the air hot and heavy like sin.

Rue hissed, turned away, head down. "I'm leaving—"

"Rue," Altair purred, pretty pink hair bouncing.

He'd been dolled up, lips glossed, body glittering and dressed in the softest blue with Valentino looking bashful by his side. The eros was just as gorgeous as ever, but his hair had been sleeked back, studs in his ears as if he'd prepared for this. His mates looked away when he stared, eyes narrowed at the colour of Altair's tails—orgasm pink.

Halcyon had only seen the shade twice—after hours of edging and when they'd mated as pack.

Altair continued, voice a sweet, musical dulcet. "Fancy seeing you on this gorgeous day."

"What do you want," Rue groaned, body stiff. "If you do that shit again, I swear to God—"

"I won't allow it," Halcyon murmured, eyes hard on his mates.

There was a twitch in their eyes, Valentino's brows dipping into a frown, lips pulled into a thin angry line and looking as if he'd swallowed a lemon. And Halcyon noted now the lack of his soul mark on his collarbone, a rise of his brow had a blush rushing over Valentino's cheek. But his mate ignored his silent questions, looking at the Alpha of his dreams.

"We're here to apologise," Valentino spoke, eyes sliding over to Rue. He shuffled his feet and he seemed genuinely sorry. A grunt in his throat as he stared hard at the ground, tongue out to lick at the seam of drying lips. "I'm sorry for hurting you. Will you forgive me?"

"No," Rue stated, feet moving to leave and Halcyon followed like a lost puppy, the two trailing along.

"What about me?" Altair whined, voice saccharine sweet. "Will you forgive me if I apologise for being a mean little bitch?"

"No," Rue stated, voice torturously cold.

It must seem odd to the rest of the student population to have three emperors tailing a guide. But the ones that lingered didn't comment, they couldn't after all. Not with their Alpha perfume spiking and wafting in the air, threatening death to anyone that might step close. And the crowd parted quickly as they passed, frightened by their aura, by the burn of their strength that should make a weaker Beta piss himself and an Omega collapse.

But as usual, Rue didn't seem to give a flying fuck.

Altair continued, pout thick in his voice. "I'm sorry baby," he begged almost whimpering, his tails fluttered, swaying with his words. "I didn't mean to lure you away, pretending to be an Omega." This had Halcyon rearing back, a snarl dripping from his tongue.

"You what?" Halcyon's heart pounded. Rue loved Omegas, surely, they hadn't fucked—

"Don't call me baby," Rue spun around with a glare and stopped right before the door. "And fuck off, alright? Apology accepted. Leave me alone."

"I thought we had something," Altair pleaded, then paused tasting the air, tasting Rue's emotions. "Alright fine, fine. You're not happy, we understand. I'd like to take you out. Just you, me and Valentino. "

He scowled, folding his arms and Halcyon understood now that the master seducer had gotten nothing from Rue. And a smug smile grew on his lips.

"It's a really good place, great food, great shopping. And you can take my card." Altair brandished the digital thing like a weapon. "Spend all the credits you want on clothes, skincare, anything in the mall. Our treat, our apology."

Rue rolled his eyes. "You're going to take me to a hotel and try to fuck me."

"No," Valentino interrupted shaking his head, his eyes were hard, serious. "We just want to apologise, set things right." His tails were quiet under his coat, the buzzing Halcyon was used to seemed unnervingly silent.

There was a pause, a sway in Rue's steps that had the trio watching with eager eyes. "What about Halcyon?" Rue asked. "Does he get to spend money on your card?"

"Halcyon?" Altair blinked.

Valentino seemed offended. "You like him that much?" Halcyon barked out an incredulous laugh. Was this even a concern considering the fact that they were in the same pack? But his Alpha puffed out his chest, proud to be considered, proud to be better.

"He's my roommate," Rue shrugged as if it explained anything. "And he's dead broke after I ruined his closet, I owe him one. He spent all his cash on the renovation. He slept on the floor."

Halcyon's mouth fell open, gaped at the man of his dreams. It seemed that the misunderstanding had grown worse, and he was in it too deep to explain. Altair slapped a hand to his lip, muffling a giggle and Valentino's lips twitched. "He likes sleeping on the floor—"

"I'm poor," Halcyon interrupted, stopping Valentino with slow nods. "Let me come."

Altair giggled, fingers at the corner of his eyes. "You're kidding—"

"He comes or I don't," Rue snapped, pulling open the door with a grunt. The handle groaned, and something cracked. Rue was mad and the clock was ticking. "Take it or leave."

"Fine!" Altair raised both palms. "You can both use my card, happy?" He blew out a low breath, a growl at the edge of his throat as his voice dropped into a whisper. A tail snapped out to curl around his wrist. "How the fuck did you make him trust you?"

"I'm his roommate," Halcyon beamed shrugging out of his grasp and waltzing into the room after Rue with the biggest, brightest smile. He was still smiling when he left the lecture hall later, tailing after Rue with a bounce in his steps.

This was going to be the best day of his life.
