章節 95: 15. Obsession.

It was a moonlit night, the perfect time to make my escape. The sound of fewer guards patrolling gave me hope. The vast hall was dimly lit, casting eerie shadows across the cages. Most of the females were either asleep or sedated, creating a quiet and eerie atmosphere. I had meticulously planned my escape route, though I knew I hadn't accounted for everything. With the spell extracted from my cage, I regained my ability to change shape.

I cautiously rose to my feet and transformed into a small sandcat, slipping between the bars unnoticed, staying hidden in the shadows. I moved with utmost care, ensuring the guards wouldn't spot me. As a tiny feline, smaller than a house cat, I knew exactly what I was doing. Along the way, I released my pheromones, causing every shifter in the vicinity to be consumed by their primal desires, meaning getting in heat in just under 24 hours. It would create enough chaos to distract the guards and everyone else, too.

Finally, I reached the corridor, feeling safer in my feline form. I remained hidden, knowing it would take some time for my pheromones to take effect. I swiftly made my way down the stairs, desperately searching for an exit or a window to leap through. As I traversed another lengthy corridor, I heard footsteps approaching.

A voice, laced with amusement, called out, "Little kitty, I know you're here. I sensed you stealing my spell. I had set a little alarm on it. Good work, but you won't escape."

Frustration washed over me. Who the hell was this? That damn alarm in the spell! I increased my speed. My only goal was to reach the stairs. Suddenly, a powerful spell froze me in place. I saw a teenager approaching, though he seemed older than his years. He carried a feline carrier with him, opening it to reveal me. Helpless, I couldn't move as he picked me up and placed me inside. He held the carrier and began walking, blocking my view of our destination.

Eventually, we arrived in a room. I heard the lock being opened, and he stepped inside, closing the door behind him. He set the carrier down, opened it, and lifted me out. His touch was gentle as he stroked my fur.

"You're special, like a unicorn, one of a kind, right? You're mine now, my pet. Don't worry, I won't force you to breed. I'm not like those others."

He had a larger cage waiting, and he placed me inside. Returning me to my human form, he released me from the spell that had immobilized me. I scrambled to sit, finding the cage too small for anything but that. The magic emanating from it was incredibly potent, intensifying the feeling of entrapment.

He went to sit at the old wooden table, its surface weathered and covered in mysterious symbols. As he settled down, I could see that he was reading an ancient, leather-bound book filled with intricate illustrations. The air around him was thick with the scent of herbs and potions, a heady mix of earthy and sweet aromas.

I remained silent, trying to move within the confines of the cage.

I strained to test its strength, but he warned me with a stern gaze, "Don't bother, you won't get out of there. Sit nicely and don't bruise yourself."

His voice carried a touch of amusement, but there was an underlying tone of authority.

Defiantly, I refused to simply behave and obey. I had always been rebellious, and this situation was no exception. Though I couldn't tell the passage of time, it seemed like hours had passed when he finally stood up from the table.

He walked towards me, his footsteps echoing in the dimly lit room. As he reached me, he firmly grasped my hand, causing a sharp pain as he pricked my finger. Blood welled up, and he swiftly collected it into a small glass bottle. A satisfied grunt escaped his lips as he released my hand.

To my surprise, my finger healed almost instantly. My body, being a vampire's,and shifter's, hybrid, had the ability to regenerate five times faster than a normal vampire's, which also meant I burned through calories at an accelerated rate.

Returning to his table, he resumed his work, muttering to himself. I watched him intently, trying to decipher his intentions, but I dared not ask. I remained seated, observing every detail, searching for anything that could aid my escape. Yet, despite my numerous plans, there was always an obstacle preventing their execution.

At one point, he turned to me and remarked, "You are resilient, but thanks to all those plans, I have even more to learn about you. I am a telepath, just for your information, specifically to you. So, your little ideas are not just yours. You won't escape."

His voice held a mix of amusement and determination as he focused on whatever he was doing with my blood.

It became clear to me that he was not only a wizard but also a vampire, as I caught a whiff of burning bush, a distinct scent associated with their kind. This meant he was the infamous Wulfe, a name I had heard of but had never met.

Summoning my courage, I spoke up, "Wulfe, right? Your reputation precedes you. I am Mimi."

I was not going to tell my complete name, and, that I was fearless. I am unable to feel fear. It is a kind of quirk of mine, but if I focused I could emit fake fear.

He turned his gaze towards me, a smile playing on his lips as he nodded. "To me, you shall be a unicorn. Your name is not important, only who you are, my unicorn."

His voice sent a chill down my spine, a reminder of his vampiric nature. They could be unnerving when they wanted to be.

The room was vast, its size engulfing the senses. A towering bookshelf adorned one wall, filled with ancient-looking books and mysterious artifacts. The air carried a faint smell of aged paper and dust. Next to the bookshelf stood a cabinet, brimming with an array of glistening crystals and stones. Each stone emitted a unique energy, inviting touch and exploration. On another wall, a table displayed an assortment of potions in delicate bottles and dried herbs in glass jars. Intricate symbols were carved into the surface of the table, hinting at its purpose in the craft of spells and magic.

With his task completed, he approached the cabinet, his fingers grazing the smooth surface of the stones as he handpicked the suitable ones. Among them, he found rose quartz, its gentle pink hue captivating his attention. He lifted it delicately and placed it on the table. Pouring a concoction, a mixture of his and my own blood, into the stone, he muttered an incantation, his hand hovering over it as he focused his energy. The air crackled with magic, its presence palpable. Eager to absorb every ounce of this mystical energy, I opened my panels wide, hoping to gain an advantage. As the magic intensified, it cascaded over me like a mighty wave, causing me to gasp in awe.

A smile of satisfaction graced his face as he observed the transformed stone. Once a mere vessel for the potion, it now pulsed with a dark, almost black essence, having absorbed the concoction. With purpose, he approached the cage where I was confined, placing the stone nearby. Suddenly, my senses were blocked, my panels sealed shut. I attempted to reopen them, but a surge of fatigue overwhelmed me, draining my strength.

Slumping further, I met his gaze as he spoke. "You cannot fight it. The stone will keep you docile, my pet. Sleep now, rest while you can."

Exhaustion consumed me, and as my eyelids grew heavy, darkness enveloped my consciousness.

Wulfe reveled in his success. This creature, so unique and captivating, had succumbed to his plan. The rose quartz he had crafted now served its purpose, absorbing the excess energy and magic that had surrounded her in the cage. She was more than just a mere thief; she possessed immense potential. With her now under the influence of his enhanced sleeping spell, she would remain in slumber, allowing him to further explore her capabilities. Perhaps it was time to involve the doc, to unravel the secrets of this non-human being who had skillfully concealed her true nature.

Wulfe gazed at her, taking in her delicate frame. Though thin, she possessed an unparalleled beauty. A childhood song about a goblin and fairy played in his mind, reminding him of their forbidden love. The fairy couldn't endure darkness, yet the goblin fell for her despite their impossibility. A tired smile tugged at Wulfe's lips, realizing he was far worse than a mere goblin. She resembled a fairy, but darkness and loneliness consumed her. Weary of her existence, tired of being sorry, she longed for a purpose. Perhaps he could help her find it and restore her will to live. His telepathy had told him a lot about her.

For the past few days, Wulfe had kept her secluded, allowing her to rest while he gradually drained her energies and magic. These powers did not belong to her; she was merely a thief. They might overwhelm her at some point, so he was helping her too. As his pet finally succumbed to sleep, Wulfe stepped out of his enchanted chamber.

Upon reentering the vast space, pandemonium unfolded. The air was thick with desire as most shifters entered their mating season, emitting a potent scent. The Salvatores, tasked with regulating breeding, roamed about, attempting to dissipate the heat and thick scent of the need to breed. It had been a while since Wulfe acquired his unicorn, keeping her slumbering. It had taken salvatores some time to quell the frenzy.

Number one, incensed, demanded answers from number two."How did she escape? When? How could you let this happen? She was my mate! Find her!"

Wulfe remained silent, keeping the unicorn's presence a secret, uncertain if the Salvatores were capable of caring for such a creature. Observing the chaos, he bided his time.

Wandering back to his laboratory, Wulfe encountered Doc, also known as number four, who intercepted him and implored, "You know something, don't hold back."

Wulfe grinned mischievously, responding, "Come, meet my pet."

They ventured into Wulfe's magical domain, and as he opened the door, the woman confined in a cage stirred.

Number four exclaimed, "You have her! But why didn't you inform him?"

Wulfe shared his findings, displaying crystals full of magic he had extracted from her. He revealed she was not only a siphon and an immortal but also a walking medical enigma.

Doc finally declared, "Well, let me study her. She is undoubtedly unique. I agree with you, but I need to examine her further. I'll fetch some sedatives to keep her unconscious."

Wulfe nodded, appreciating the wondrous sight before him. As he observed her, it became clear that she needed to be studied - there was a purpose to her presence.

Making his way to his beautiful unicorn, he spoke softly, "My unicorn, soon you will be relocated. It has been an absolute honor to meet you. Perhaps our paths will cross again someday."

She gazed back at him with a drowsy expression, her eyes heavy with sleep. The spell he had cast kept her in a peaceful slumber, preventing her remarkable defiance from stirring. It was truly incredible to listen to the workings of her mind, filled with plans of escape. She was intelligent, and not to be underestimated. Skillfully, she wielded her appearance as a weapon, causing others to underestimate her abilities.

After a brief absence, Number Four returned, holding a syringe. He carefully inserted it into her vein, gently pressing the plunger down.

"Remove your spell so I can assess the effectiveness of this drug," he instructed Wulfe.

As soon as the spell was lifted, she stirred. Doc grunted, swiftly administering another injection, causing her to slump. Despite this, he proceeded to give her a third injection. Her breathing slowed, and she remained unresponsive. Finally, she was completely subdued, allowing them to safely transport her to Doc's laboratory for testing and experimentation.

Number four opened the cage, carefully lifting her out. As he struggled with her limp form, he grumbled to himself, realizing just how light she was. She was clearly not in good shape, her bones easily felt beneath her skin. However, once they conducted the necessary tests, he planned to provide her with intravenous feeding to help nourish her. Her heart raced, radiating warmth, indicating her rapid metabolism. It was no wonder she weighed as little as a feather.

As they ascended to the lab, he already had a multitude of tests in mind. Placing her on the table, he secured her skeletal wrists with steel cuffs, ensuring she remained contained. Now, it was time for her anatomy and physiology to be revealed, allowing him to classify her more accurately. The term "hybrid" was far too broad, as there were countless possibilities for hybrids of any kind.
