章節 4: Chapter 3: Hidden Truth and the Siblings Quest

As the moon cast a silvery glow over the Han Mountains, Surya and his new companions, Li Wei and Mei Lin, continued their journey towards the homeland. The path was illuminated by the gentle light of Surya's magical staff, which seemed to guide them through the darkened woods. The soft rustling of leaves and the occasional hoot of an owl created a serene backdrop for their conversation.

Surya, ever the trickster, maintained his facade of being just another seeker on a quest. He was keen to understand why Li Wei and Mei Lin sought the Sutra of Liberation and was curious about their motives. His staff, though glowing softly, did little to betray his true identity as Buddha. Instead, it served as a source of light and a prop for his occasional jokes.

As they walked, Surya casually asked, "So, you two have been quite secretive about your quest. What makes the Sutra of Liberation so vital to you?"

Li Wei and Mei Lin exchanged a glance before Mei Lin began. "It's a long story. You see, we are siblings, and our family has suffered greatly. Our father was a noble warrior who fought against a cruel tyrant. Despite his valor, he was betrayed and killed. Our mother, stricken with grief, fell into illness, and our land was left in turmoil."

Li Wei nodded, his expression solemn. "The Sutra of Liberation is said to hold immense power. We believe it could bring justice to those who have wronged us and restore peace to our land. We need the Buddha's help to find it because the Sutra was hidden away by those who feared its power."

Surya's eyes sparkled with curiosity as he listened. He had always been fascinated by stories of bravery and tragedy. With a mischievous grin, he leaned in closer. "So, you're saying that you need the Buddha to help you find something that was hidden because it was too powerful?"

Mei Lin sighed, "Yes, but we've heard that finding the Sutra is no easy task. That's why we need the Buddha's wisdom and guidance. We hope he can reveal its location and help us use its power for good."

Surya raised an eyebrow, his gaze sharp and perceptive. "Hmm. Finding something that's been hidden because of its power certainly sounds like a daunting task. But tell me, what makes you think that the Buddha would even aid you?"

Li Wei and Mei Lin looked at each other, then Li Wei spoke earnestly. "We've been told that the Buddha has great wisdom and compassion. We believe that with his help, we can find the Sutra and bring justice to our land. Our family's tragedy has driven us to this quest, and we're willing to do whatever it takes."

Surya listened intently, his eyes reflecting an ancient, piercing wisdom. He could see the depth of their pain and the sincerity of their intentions. With a gentle smile, he spoke. "I see. The weight of your past and your determination are indeed palpable. It is clear to me that your quest is genuine and driven by a true desire for justice and healing."

With a theatrical gesture, Surya sat down on a nearby rock and beckoned them to join him. "Let me tell you a story," he began, his voice taking on a narrative tone. "Long ago, there was a mighty dragon who guarded a sacred treasure. This dragon was fierce and wise, and many sought the treasure, believing it held the key to their deepest desires. But the dragon was not easily swayed."

Li Wei and Mei Lin listened intently as Surya continued. "One day, a humble wanderer came to the dragon's lair. Instead of demanding the treasure, the wanderer offered a simple gift—a single lotus flower. The dragon, intrigued by the wanderer's genuine intent, agreed to share the treasure, but only if the wanderer proved their worth through a trial of heart and spirit."

Surya's eyes twinkled with mischief as he concluded, "The wanderer succeeded by demonstrating compassion, courage, and sincerity. The dragon, moved by the wanderer's purity of heart, revealed the treasure and ensured it was used for good. The lesson here is that the true power of a treasure lies not in its possession but in the heart of the one who seeks it."

Li Wei and Mei Lin were silent for a moment, reflecting on the story. Finally, Mei Lin spoke, her voice soft but resolute. "Your story resonates with our journey. We know that finding the Sutra and using its power wisely will require more than just strength—it will require a pure heart and unwavering resolve."

Surya nodded, a satisfied grin on his face. "Indeed. And though I am not the Buddha you seek, I can still offer guidance and wisdom along the way. We shall continue our journey together, and perhaps, through our shared experiences, we will uncover the truths and answers you seek."

With that, Surya led the way once more, his staff aglow and his heart light. The night unfolded with laughter, stories, and the growing bond between them. As they ventured deeper into the mountains, Surya's playful tricks and insightful tales continued to guide and entertain his companions, preparing them for the trials that lay ahead.
