His dorm had never been so oppressive. Jared sat in the solitude of it, hunched over a chair in his gray coat, tie and flat cap.

The wealth of the Quinterbells was testified for in the Bearer's dorm. Lavish furnishing, mahogany walls, a large king size bed and a good view of the Academy's premises from his window.

But at the moment, none of these comforted him as he sat, burdened by the weight of the day's events and the battle that they were about to face.

He had spent most of the preparation studying on the Dormant Demon, Belmiroth, and from what he gathered, he knew that this was about to be his toughest battle yet, and it churned relentlessly in his mind.

'The Hell was he even doing?' he pondered, referring to Spheris's action that morning. He truly liked Spheris and wanted to build a trusting friendship with him, however, threatening to kill a fellow Bearer wasn't the kind of action he condoned.
