章節 8: Freida, The Spirit of the Winter.

"I apologise for not taking earlier. I just had to be sure that it was the normal you." the spirit finally said. Lanius could hear her speak , not within his head, but outside, from his ears.

"Why do that? You're practically a demi-God. You cannot die, you cannot age. You could just take over my body and use me as a puppet." Lanius said.

"You're stupid from time to time, aren't you? I'd never do that, not to the last Verhea. A deal is a deal." Freida's voice was sweet, reassuring. It gave a feeling of warmness to the young man. The spirit was the only one that he had left.

"So, why not just leave my body and live without a host? I'm a moderate cryomancer even without the Winter's powers." Lanius then asked.

"I'm afraid that this won't be happening. I've grown so accustomed to a human host that I wouldn't be able to readjust my powers and the snow and ice would cover the whole Runeterra. Besides, I love the feeling of the human body...it feels... I cannot explain it. "

"Spirits feeling weakness...wow.." Lanius exclaimed.

"So Lanius... What happened? Where are we? Are we the same world or at another?"

"It's the same...fourteen years later. Noxus attacked this land and has a big portion occupied. Slaughtered many, starting with the Verhea." Lanius said with bitterness. "Don't worry... I'll get revenge on them..."

"Don't act harshly, young one... You don't need to avenge me." Freida spoke.

"It's not just for you, but for Ionia, for the Verhea...for me." he muttered, before the door of the cabin opened.

"Lanius!? Dinner's ready!" Altair yelled for him from outside the door. Thankfully, as the strong wind blew and with Lanius speaking quietly, he did not hear them, otherwise he'd think that the Winter awakened mad from his stasis.

"We can discuss the rest later..." Lanius said, getting up and moving towards the house.

"Of course, the family doesn't need to be disturbed. " Freida replied within his head.

"Is there something wrong boy? Why aren't you eating?" Yellina asked, seeing that the young man hasn't even eaten half of what was in his plate.

"Huh? No, there's nothing wrong... I was just lost in my thoughts." Lanius replied and began to eat. Yellina and Altair looked at him for a few seconds with a skeptical expression, before shrugging and returning to their plates.

After they ate, Lanius went outside again and climbed on the roof, as he did for the past week. He sat down with his legs crossed and admired the starry night. It always fascinated him...the way the black sky was filled with stars. He then slightly adjusted his head downwards, looking at a milky way.

When he was young, his father told him that their world was just as the stars on the sky. All the stars close to Runeterra, along with the sun and moon was named a galaxy.

Lanius asked him who made the stars. His father replied that the legends spoke of a giant dragon named Aurelion Sol, the starforger and that he was the one that created the sky and stars.

Lanius then asked him if he was stronger that the gods, since he was so big. His father laughed and said "Probably".

"So, you have decided that you wish to wage war with Noxus?" Freida spoke.

"Mhm...will you lend me your power?" Lanius said.

"Always...what I worry is that you won't be able to handle it...and you'll just harm yourself or those near you." Freida replied.

"So... What can we do?" Lanius asked.

"You would need the "Frostbite's Fist", the rune that Ornn and Volibear forged. It will act as a fuze, allowing you to harness the Winter's powers." The spirit proposed.

"Gopd idea...but where is it? If I recall correctly, the elders said that it was broken in half throughout the centuries and then...vanished!" The Winter exclaimed.

"Half of it was returned to Freljord. The previous Winters did not need it, as they had prepared themselves since they were young to inherit me." The Spirit told him.

Those that had been chosen to share their bodies had gone through cryomancy trainings and other challenges since they turned eight.

Lanius had an extensive knowledge regarding cryomancy due to him being the future warfather of the tribe, but he was not as good as the others, people that could flash-freeze a fifteen meter tall, ten meter wide and five meter thick wall made out of hard ice. He had learned how to flash-freeze, yet he couldn't do what the others did, hence why the Witch targeted him.

"What about the other half?" the young man asked.

"It's still here, somewhere. We have to find it." the spirit said. "Lanius, someone is watching you." she then warned him, her voice was slightly alarmed.

The young man looked down towards the ground around the cabin, the moment he heard this, thinking that one of the family had gone outside and seen him on the roof.

Something then clicked inside his head and he faced forward, towards the forest. As always, a set of amber eyes stared at him from the first trees of the woods, before disappearing in a second.

Lanius hopped down from the roof and walked the thirty meter forward, reaching the first trees (basically there's a thirty meter radius of open land that the cabin and the well is in).

"Freida, whatever happens, don't intervene. I wish to test something. " he warned the spirit.

As he walked into the forest , he suddenly heard a soft thud behind him, and once he turned, he saw the same vastaya that he saw a week and a half ago.

Lanius reacted a second late, and this allowed the female fox to charm him again. The only thing he saw was her blowing a kiss towards him...then a feeling of euphoria got in his head. Lanius felt like he was drunk. He stumbled back, reaching out for his kusarigama, but realised that he had left it inside.

He semi fell, semi crouched, kneeling on the ground. For a bloody reason, he couldn't take his eyes of hers. Those two amber eyes captivated his gaze.

Freida did not intervene, as Lanius had asked her, tho she was feeling that it would end bad. A wide, devious grin formed in the fox's eyes, revealing a set of sharp fangs. She got closer and Lanius braced himself.
