The grammar/spelling is just wrong. I don't know what book you were reading but, I don't get why you would write names and the first word in a sentance in lower case. I recommend using Grammarly or something like that. It will improve reading experience tremendously without much effort.

so reall the most off putting thing is the writing. its bad, like 3rd grader bad. just using Grammarly and rereading it would honestly eliminate so many of the problems. and the character design is another issue with them being writen and portrayed in a weird way. i dont really know how to explain it you just have to read it to understand. i wont say dont read it but its not something id recommend
