章節 22: Come With Us
Token noticed the look in Nicole's eyes weren't the same as he once knew. He held his hands up in defense as she held her bow to his face with a stoic expression. "Whoa Nicole, it's me."
She didn't respond as she seemed she was about to fire her bow. Then it occurred to Token that he was being possessed the last time he saw her.
"Nicole, it's really me. Heidi's gone." He reassured.
She didn't respond but she seemed as if she wanted proof as she slowly let the bow string forward to a resting position but still keeping it ready to fire at a moment needed.
"Okay, I know you have no reason to believe me, but let me at least prove it, something only me and you would know."
She didn't seem to budge.
"Okay, in fourth grade we first started dating. We hid underneath the bleachers where no one would see. You really wanted to know what it was like to kiss someone. You were so nervous your hands were shaking like crazy. It was cute in my eyes so I made the simple comment, 'There's no need to be scared..' That's when I snuck a quick kiss on your lips. That being out first kiss."
Nicole lowered her weapon as she looked at him as if she was about to cry. "Token?" She asked in a a soft tone.
Token couldn't hold back his tears as they fell from his cheek. Nicole dropped her bow and arrow as Token took his chance. He quickly threw himself at her in a tight powerful embrace. Nicole began crying as she buried her face in his chest. "I thought you died.." She cried out.
"I thought you died too." Token said in a somber tone as he closed his eyes.
Soft whining come from behind Token as they both remember they weren't alone. They both pulled away as Nicole held her hand out. "Bo. Calm down." She demanded. The cougar seemed to calm within a second.
"Jess, you can let go." Token reassured.
Nicole watched as her cat was released from the black glob. Fear consumed Nicole as it was an instinct to grab her bow and arrow and aim as the ink creature. Token touched her bow as he lowed it. "She's with us. She looks terrifying at times but she isn't the enemy here." Nicole lowered her bow as she watched the ink girl slowly pull herself out of the puddle. Her arms and legs still taking shape. Nicole looked away as her body began to tremble. "Nicole, she's the one the saved me from Heidi." Nicole spun her head looking at Token in disbelief. "Really? But how?" She asked.
"What she did with you cougar but she had no intention to hold her still. She drug her inside the ground. Heidi grew scared as she let me go. You have to give her a chance. She is a hero even if she doesn't look it."
Nicole looked over at the girl. She tensed as she saw color forming on her body. Nicole let out a gasp as she was dumbfounded.
"Nicole, you should come with us. Please? We need you... I need you."
"Token, I can't I'm not a hero.. at least not anymore." Nicole said while looking away with shame in her heart.
"How could you say that?"
"I killed many people Token! Nothing will change that!" She yelled out with tears building in her eyes.
"So did I but I'm not letting what she did get in my way of helping others."
Nicole tensed as the built tears streamed down her face. "Token, I'm so sorry. I'm not as strong as you. I'm so scared she will come back and get me again. I don't want to kill anyone. I don't want to go out of hiding, I don't want to see the Manipulator again. He broke me... he..." Nicole chocked up as she hid her face. Token quickly held her tightly in his arms. While stroking her hair he closed his eyes as he didn't think he would ever hold her in his arms again.
"Nicole, you have been hiding for so long. Please, come with us. You don't have to use that power and Bebe can give you a spell to prevent you from hurting anyone else. Maybe she can block that power and you can experiment with an ability more safe."
Nicole looked up at Token with the saddest eyes. "Really?"
Token gave a reassuring smile. "Oh course, they will love seeing you. Plus they will all welcome you the same way they did with me."
Nicole lightly chuckled. "Did they throw you a party?"
He nodded. "Oh course, you know them as well as I do."
Nicole smiled up at Token. "No one will judge me for the things I did?"
"Absolutely not. They love you Nicole." 'So do I.' He thought to himself.
Nicole looked over at Jess seeing she was watching as if she was curious. Nicole smiled as she looked back at Token. "Okay.. take me to our friends. I'm ready."

The three were going back to the party when they were stopped by a loud scream off in the distance. Looking over the three could see a woman pointing at a man running while holding a purse. "Someone please. He stole my purse!!" The three didn't hesitate to chase after the criminal. As they were catching up to the guy they all stopped as a figure stepped in front of the man. The man didn't budge as he tried running past the figure. However, the hidden person grabbed the guy by the collar. The man was lifted up as he grunted in discomfort. The three watched as they didn't understand who this person was. They were wearing a tight jacket that was hiding their face in the shadows. The stranger grabbed the purse while forcefully ripping it from the criminal's grasp. Nicole and Token's mouths dropped as the person set the man down and punched him in the face. The man went down without a grunt or noise escaping his lips. The two grew scared as they realized this must be a brutalist or a martial artist. Jess didn't feel scared as she was more curious than anything. The three saw the figure walk underneath the light post as they saw the woman running to the stranger. "Thank you so much! How can I repay you?" The woman asked while grabbing her purse.
"You don't have to repay me. It's my job ma'am, now go home. It's not safe at night." The stranger said in a tough tone.
"Okay, thank you." The woman said as she ran off in the distance.
The stranger looked at the three while giving a dirty look and hunched over. They grabbed the criminal by the hands while throwing him over their shoulder and turned walking toward the police station. The three all sat in utter shock as they realized one thing. 'That was a girl?!?!'
