That's why it was important for him to make sure Lia understood the weightage of her identity ; her idenity which was the key element to her success.
" I will, Uncle...." Lia assured whilst shaking her head to herself.
She had to admit Carlos sure had a weird sense of phrasing. Even though he just said that he had no clue what so ever as to what her mother's last words meant. He ended up giving her the biggest clue of all.
What surprised her the most was how easily he was able to explain her the very essence of her powers. Given everything that she remembered regarding her powers, her experience was exactly the same as Carlos explained.
On that note, Lia realised that something was amiss but, she couldn't exactly pinpoint it.
" Feel free to ask, if there's anything else that you wish to know, Lia. " Lutfa said quickly changing the subject before Carlos could start his second round of lecture.
" No Auntie, there isn't much to know now that I have my memories back. As for the things that I do wish to know, it's best if I investigate them myself. " Satisfied with her positive response, the couple nodded in agreement and in relief.
Actually, Lia had a lot that she wanted to ask at that point. After all, she's been away for more than twelve years thanks to her memory loss. She had no idea of how far the situation has deteriorated or what was the current status of the Dark Vortex.
Still, she decided to not bother the already distressed couple any further then they are.
Firstly, because now she had other resources to update herself. Secondly and perhaps most importantly because of the couple's dire straits.
Yes, that's right!! Even though both Carlos and Lutfa tried their best to hide it from Lia so as to not put unnecessary pressure on her. Still, they were no match against her extreme observation skills. Underneath their love and compassion, Lia could clearly see their exhaustion and desperation.
She wasn't willing to conclude simply based on her assumsation but, seeing Carlos and Lutfa in the state that they were she could only imagine what they were going through.
Taking a moment to think, Lia decided to make the best use of her time she had with Lutfa and Carlos. " Uncle Carlos " Lia began distrupting the momentary silence that was just beginning to settle between them. " When you erased my memories..."
" Correction Lia !! " Carlos prompted sharply, cutting -off Lia just as she was getting started. " To be exact, I never erased your memories. Time Knot is not about erasing memories, remember that! " He made absolute sure that Lia had no misconceptions whatsoever, otherwise, it'll serve to become a great problem in the long run.
And he was right....
Creating a Time Knot meant removing a person's memories upto a certain point of time and storing else where. In Lia's case, it was till her mother's accident, which is why she was as blank as a paper after the incident.
" Yeah, right. Sorry about that.... " Quickly rectifying herself, Lia continued chosing her next words very cautiously. " What I mean to say is that it would help me a great deal if you two guide me in getting my powers back. "
She wasn't stupid. She was fully aware that even with her memories she was nothing and could do nothing without her powers. Therefore, it was almost logical for her to look for her powers before throwing herself into anything else. However, it seemed that Lutfa and Carlos had something else going on in their minds.
Lutfa : "....."
Carlos : "....."
Both Lutfa and Carlos were stunned !!
Simply stunned!!
It took the dumpfolded couple a while to wrap their heads around Lia's bizarre request however, the way they expressed their shock told an entirely different story.
' Get back her powers?? What in the name of Almighty is this girl saying?? ' Carlos thought looking absolutely miserable.
Lutfa on the other hand, exclaimed in joy after she got over the shock. " YES!! YES!! YES!! SEE I TOLD YOU!! "
"....." Now it was Lia who was dumpfolded. Feeling utterly confused, she gave the couple a questioning look which clearly said ' What the hell is going on here?? '
Instead of answering her directly, Lutfa smriked devilishly as she pulled Lia in a big bear hug. " Lia my dearest, you proved it that you are truly Clytia's daughter. Thank you so much. " She then turned to Carlos. " Oh Darling!! " Lutfa's sweetness only made things more miserable for Carlos. " Don't forget...You owe me a bottle of Twilight Sun. " Mischief twinkled in her eyes while Carlos's jaw hit the rock bottom . " And please.. Don't be lazy about it." After that, there was no stopping Lutfa as she laughed on and on with no mercy.
If Lia was confused before, she was literally speechless now. ' These two had a bet on me over Twilight Sun?? And how's me asking for my powers prove that I'm my mother's daughter? ' As much as she wanted to ask them out loud, Carlos was faster then her.
" LIA!!!!! I HATE YOU..." He boomed. " Both you pair of mother-daughter are always confused about the most weirdest things. It's a good thing I washed my hands off of your mother a long time ago and it seems I have to do the same for you. As you young lady, instead of wondering where your powers are, it would do me a world of good if you wondered what your powers have done?? " Carlos swore he would never wager with his wife until the end of time, not atleast about Lia.
Where is Lady Luck when you need her???? Oh right, that's his wife....
Poor Carlos.... Being married to Lady Luck, he had the worst luck.
" UNCLE CARLOS!!!! AUNTIE LUTFA!!! HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO ME!!! I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU!!! " Recovering from the sudden revelation, Lia wanted to be angry at Lutfa and Carlos for laughing and wagering at her expense. But, instead she ended up joining them.
She knew they were trying to divert her mind and she respected them for their efforts.
" How can you two bet a bottle of Twilight Sun on a poor old helpless me--" Lia tried to defend her point although Carlos was beyond the scope of reasoning.
" What do you mean by ' poor old helpless you'???? I'm the only one poor and helpless here. "
Carlos justified himself.
" Correction, hubby!!! You're not 'poor and helpless' , you're Lord Alexius. " Lutfa retorted with an overly sweet yet, sarcastic smile.
Lia gave a hats off to Lutfa in her heart. Only she would dare to say something like this to Carlos. " Absolutely right Auntie!! Shame on you, Uncle Carlos!!! How can you, the wise, the strong, the fearless Lord Alexius be scared of a tiny bottle of Twilight Sun ???? I'm very disappointed with you. " She added, rubbing more salt on Carlos.
Carlos was stupefied.
Listening to Lutfa and Lia, he didn't know whether to laugh or cry at himself.
Okay!! Fine!!! It is easier to be Lord Alexius then be a husband.
Moral of the story ; even gods have to bare the price tag of having a wife.
" Okay!!! okay!!! That's enough dog food you guys!!! Can we please get back to my question??? " Lia insisted.
" Yes!! Yes!! Of course !! Your question!! What exactly is your question?? For all I heard was my doom.. " Carlos stated folding his arms to chest. Clearly, getting way ahead of himself.
Lia : "..."
Lutfa : "...."
"YOU ARE THE HEIGHT OF IMPOSSIBILITY!!!!" both.
" Forget about him, Lia!! Now regarding your powers.." Lutfa began to explain, ignoring her husband's childishness. " All I can say is when it comes to our powers nothing and no one other then ourselves matter. After your accident, we were forced to remove your memories and only your memories in order to protect you. Doing so didn't had no effect on your powers. They remained exactly as they were, just unused. And honestly, there is no force in the creation other than the Almighty that can separate any of us from our powers. "
" Lia, knowledge and our powers are similarly different. The more you use them, the more you gain them. But we have to gain knowledge in order to use it, on the contrary, our powers are something that we are born with . They reside in each and every fibre of us. When life merges with the powers of a domain ; a god is born." Carlos added.
" I understand that you're worried Lia and it's only natural. " It looked like Carlos really hit the nail hard on the head. " I believe you can't remember what happened to you after your mother's accident, am I right?? "
Lia felt thunderstruck!!
Ground slipped from underneath her feet!!
Finally, she could pinpoint what the feeling of amiss was about.
Her own memories!!
" You can't remember anything from the last twelve years of your life, isn't it?? Because if you did than instead of looking for your powers, you would've looked for ways to control your powers. " Carlos further added.
" What..what happened after the accident?? " Lia asked hesitantly. Her worst fear was that she may caused some serious damage because of her lack of knowledge.
" Don't worry about it. " Lutfa replied with a comforting smile. " It's nothing that you can't repair. For now just give yourself some time. "
" And don't think much about your memories. This is temporary. Once the memories of the Time Knot has settled well with you, rest of your memories will return automatically. "Carlos comforted.
" But why were my powers out of control, Uncle?? As I understand, with the Time Knot in place it's not possible that I remembered my powers, right?? "
" Your absolutely right, Lia. But, you must also understand that there's more to our powers than just remembrance. "
" What do you mean?? "
" As your Auntie previously explained, nothing and no one has the power to separate you from your powers. Back then, even though you didn't remember your powers, your powers never forgot about you. They acted up because of your strong emotions. Anger, fear, sorrow, jealously etc triggered your powers to act up and protect you. Don't feel guilty about anything, Lia. You have done nothing wrong. Once you get the rest of your memories, you'll understand why your powers acted up in the first place. "
" I understand Uncle. Thank you for everything you've done for me. I promise I'll remember everything you and Auntie Lutfa taught me. " Lia felt emotional. Their time of separation arrived before she was allowed to enjoy their time together.
" Don't be sad, Lia. It's not a good bye, just see you later. " Lutfa consoled placing a beautiful bracelet in Lia's wrist.
Lia was rather surprised to see her mother's bracelet. And more so because Clytia was wearing the bracelet until her very last moment.
" Your father gifted this bracelet to your mother on their wedding night. I believe your mother threw away the bracelet before she entered the Dark Vortex. After things had calmed down, we found it hiding under some debris. "
" This is it, Lia. For now this is all the help we can give you, the rest is all up to you. " Tears thereatend down as Carlos bid his good bye with a chaste kiss on Lia's forehead. But Lia didn't shed them.
" Lia, life is a subject with endless chapters and each chapter teaches us something new. Remember them all and believe in your heart, together they will guide you to the right path and help you overcome your obstacles. Also remember, that if you ever need any help do not hesitate to ask us. We're just a call away from you. Okay?? " Lutfa gave her last piece of advice.
Lia nodded in response but, couldn't bring herself to say goodbye.
" See you later. " Lutfa mumered to Lia, giving her one last hug.
" See you later Auntie..." That was all Lia managed to say. Her voice choked as she desperately tried to not burst into tears.
Then, in a blink of an eye both Lutfa and Carlos disappeared leaving Lia with her choices in the deep silence.

Secondly, I would like to sincerely apologise as currently I am unable to do a mass release because I don't have a stock pile. This story is something that I started to create on the spot after seeing the contest poster. And also this is my first time writing a story on such a platform. So I'm really sorry . I will do a mass release after I have collected a few chapters.
