How can inhumanely torturing a young girl and then bed riddening her for the rest of her life be a test, more so when a new life was already on its way???
Brother Fernandez felt the world crashing down before him. He couldn't fathom as to what Lia possibly got herself into that landed her in such a state.
He grasped and watched helplessly as Lia was wheeled out from the operation room and placed in the intensive care unit. When Brother Fernandez entered the ICU, there was just a single capsule that contained Lia, all wrapped up in bandages just like a ' Mummy '.
" How...How is she?? " Brother asked in a trembling voice.
He didn't know why he asked this obvious question.
What was he thinking, that everything the doctor said would turn out to be wrong???
" Both the mother and the child are stable for now. But because she has entered into a vegetative state and has injured lungs, we had to put her under life support system. We are monitoring the baby as well. Also... "
The attending nurse explained bringing out a small tray and gave it to Brother Fernandez.
" The patient had this on her when she was brought to us. "
On the tray was a beautiful rainbow coloured crystal necklace latched with a delicate gold chain. At first Brother Fernandez didn't think much of it and casually took the necklace and stuffed it somewhere in his pocket. Along with the attending nurse their were two medical technicians who were maning the capsule's programming.
" Sir!! The elder patient is awake and our staff from treatment room needs you there. " One of them informed Brother as he received a call about the same from the cockpit.
Brother Fernandez's heart stopped.
He was sure that first thing the elder would do is ask about Lia and no way would he be able to tell him the truth. But he can't avoid him either.
Brother thanked the staff and left for the treatment room with his delimma. What he failed to notice was that the moment he crossed the doors of the ICU, the necklace was no longer in his pocket.
Inside the treatment room, it was exactly as Brother Fernandez predicted. From the moment Father woke up, he continuously kept asking for Lia to the point that it became quiet difficult for the attending staff to handle him.
Brother entered the room when one of the staff was trying to inject another dose of sedation. Seeing Brother Fernandez, Father Abraham practically jumped out of his capsule and began asking about Lia.
Brother really didn't know what he should say to the elder at the moment. Father's expectant eyes made his throat dry. All he managed to do was remain silent with downcast eyes.
But that wasn't helping either because a feeling of uneasy began to brew in Father's heart. He began to grow suspicious as a result of Brother's silence.
" Tell me what happened Brother Fernandez!!! How is my Lia??? Tell me how is she!!!
Cough!!! Cough!!! " Father Abraham demanded his answers in a fit of insanity.
Brother's silence was eating up his soul. Still Brother didn't dare open his mouth and the medical staff couldn't control him.
" The young patient is fine. Our operation was successful. " Someone behind Brother Fernandez said.
Everyone turned to the door to see who spoke.
To there surprise, it was none other than the head surgeon of JaiWar S107 and Lia's main operating surgeon.
" I am her main operating surgeon. If you have any questions then please feel free to ask me."
" How... How is my Lia?? "Father asked immediately.
" Like I said Sir, she is absolutely fine for now. She is still not out of the woods yet though. Our surgery to remove some blood clots was a success however, she has suffered heavy brain injury which at the moment is our main concern because it can lead her into coma. That's why we have placed her in the ICU. Extensive monitoring is also needed because of her pregnancy." the surgeon explained.
Brother Fernandez was speechless.
He was amazed by the doctor's lying skills. The doctor spoke about everything and yet nothing that revealed Lia's true condition.
" Pregnant?!?!! You mean to say my Lia is pregnant!! " The doctor's words managed to easy Father's heart regarding Lia health but her pregnancy somewhat blew it up.
" Yes!! She is and our tests have confirmed that she is seven weeks pregnant. The fetus was already a bit weak due to lack of self care and now this accident has further weakened it. But I must say the little one is true fighter. Even after all of this that tiny heart is still holding on tight." the doctor remarked with a smile.
By then the sedatives that the medical staff had previously injected to Father while the doctor engaged him with Lia's reports began to kick in and Father drifted off to sleep.
" Thank you very much. I really had no idea what to say to him. Lia's current condition would have caused another arrest and massive one. " Brother said honestly.
" No worries, it's all part of my job ." Saying that the doctor turned to leave when...
Beep!! Beep!! Beep!!!
The emergency red alert siren kicked off and announcements indicated that something was wrong in the ICU.
And yes!!! There was indeed something wrong in the ICU.
The head surgeon and the other medical staffs all rushed to the intensive care unit to check. Especially because Lia was truly not out of the woods yet.
But when they reached the ICU , the ground slipped from under their feet!!
They were thunder struck!!
They didn't know what to call it.
Miracle or sorcery?!?!
They themselves could not decide. No pharse nor words could neither explain what happened nor express what they felt upon seeing the results.
As for the emergency siren, it also went off because of what happened here.
Each capsule controller is connected to the main computer. When inside the capsule, if the patient's vitals begins to fluctuate beyond normal range the controller automatically sends signal to the main computer along with setting off the emergency siren. And that was exactly what happened in Lia's case but in a very twisted way.
The first thing everyone noticed was the unconscious Lia inside her capsule. And not in way one would expect to see a patient with Lia's condition.
Lia laid inside her capsule as if she was sleeping and would wake up even at the slightest sound. Although, that was not the problem.
Their main problem was that she laid there with all her bandages gone!!!
Not only that, there was also not a single burn, stitch or marred marks on her body.
Her hair half of what was forcefully pulled out by Xiao GoChang and then fully shaved off by the medical staff in order to fix her shattered skull grew back to its original length and quality along with erased stitches.
The scans showed that all her fractured bones, burned muscles and injured lungs were completely healed and better than ever before.
Also her uterus was fully repaired and her baby was more healthier than most babies in the given tenture.
At last and perhaps what's considered the least of their concern was that a very certain rainbow crystal necklace found its way back to Lia and was on her neck just like it was when they found her.
Seeing the crystal necklace on Lia's neck the attending nurse shrieked. She knew that she had given it to Brother Fernandez and saw him put it in his pocket.
Everyone turned to Brother Fernandez after the nurse recited the incident .
By then Brother had already rampaged his pockets inside out but, the necklace was nowhere to be found.
