Thea’s POV
As I walk out of the tiny bedroom in the cottage, I have to be careful not to wake up Hudson, who is passed out on the couch. He refused to leave me alone in the cottage in case I was being targeted by the Alpha. I told him I would be fine and that we would be breaking his pack’s customs, but he refused to leave.
I spent most of the night lying awake and staring at the ceiling, contemplating everything that Hudson had told me the night before. He did not expect the Alpha to let our marriage happen, meaning I likely would never make it home. The thought made my heart feel tight in my chest, making it nearly impossible to sleep. Even now, I absentmindedly rub at the tightness as if it were a sore muscle.
