章節 16: small memories

"Guys, your abilities are great," Cior said, looking at each of them with a teasing smile. "But I have to admit, I'm pretty impressed."

The boys exchanged glances, all secretly proud of their powers, but trying not to show it too much.

"Yours are pretty cool too," Mateo said with a wink. "But, hey, let's go to the ground and practice. No time like the present, right?"

"Yeah, let's see if your gravity control can keep us on our toes," Arvan added, giving her a playful shove.

Cior raised an eyebrow. "Oh, don't worry, I'll make sure you stay grounded."

Ziven snorted. "The real question is: Can you handle us when we start showing off?"

Amaias grinned. "Let's go, shortie. Time to see if your abilities are all talk."

As they walked toward the training grounds, Cior rolled her eyes, but couldn't help the smirk tugging at her lips. "This is gonna be fun. You guys will regret challenging me."

"Sure we will," Arvan said sarcastically, "Just try not to float away when we start showing off."

The group headed out, each ready to test their powers against each other. It was clear they were in for a lot of laughs, and maybe a few bruises, but at least they were all in this together. The competition was on, but it was all in good fun.

Days passed, and the training sessions became more intense. Cior, who had been struggling a bit with her swordsmanship, decided to ask Mateo for help.

"Hey, I like the way you combine sword with your powers. Please teach me!" Cior said with a genuine smile, her eyes lighting up as she admired Mateo's skill.

The others were watching from a distance, their eyes narrowing with jealousy, but they stayed quiet. They couldn't deny that Mateo was good at what he did, and Cior's request made sense.

Mateo raised an eyebrow, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "You want me to teach you, huh? I'm flattered," he said, enjoying the attention. "Alright, let's see if you can keep up."

Cior nodded eagerly. "I've got the abilities, just need to know how to integrate them into the fight. You're the expert here."

Arvan crossed his arms, watching with a half-smirk. "Just don't go floating away mid-swing, okay? I'm not chasing you around the training grounds."

Ziven rolled his eyes. "Jealous much?" he muttered under his breath, clearly not thrilled by the idea of Cior getting closer to Mateo.

Amaias, though, just watched quietly, knowing that Cior's request was a good one. If she could master combining her powers with the sword, she'd be unstoppable. Still, he couldn't help but feel a little competitive.

"Alright, Cior. Let's start with some basic techniques," Mateo said, as he moved into position, ready to teach her.

Cior stood tall, ready to learn. "Let's do this."

The rest of the boys, despite their jealousy, couldn't help but be impressed as they watched Cior and Mateo begin their training. It was clear that something was starting to change, and the friendly competition among them was only growing stronger.

Cior, always eager to learn and improve, quickly gained a reputation among her peers. Her dedication didn't go unnoticed, and soon, she was assigned to a special team—one of the senior Waho Research and Maintenance teams. The team was responsible for maintaining the discipline of the academy and conducting research into various magical systems, including combat techniques and mana control.

To her surprise, her four friends were also assigned to the same team. It was a combination of excitement and frustration for Cior—she was glad to be working alongside them, but at the same time, their playful teasing would make it a little harder to focus.

"Looks like we're stuck together, huh?" Cior said with a grin as she looked around at her friends—Mateo, Ziven, Amaias, and Arvan. "Well, this will be interesting."

"Great. More opportunities for you to distract us while we're trying to focus," Ziven said, shaking his head in mock frustration but with a smile on his face. "You really are trouble, Cior."

Arvan, always with a sarcastic remark, added, "Yeah, maybe we can have a race between all the senior students while we're at it. You'll get even more 'valuable' learning experience."

Cior raised an eyebrow. "You think I'd lose a race? Bring it on!"

"Good luck with that," Mateo said, laughing. "But we're here for research and discipline, not to get ourselves in trouble. Let's make sure we don't make a mess of it, alright?"

Cior nodded eagerly. "Alright, alright. But after this, I want to try those new sword techniques with you, Mateo."

"Focus, Cior," Arvan warned. "We'll have plenty of time for that later. First, let's not mess this up."

The group set off toward their first assignment, the weight of responsibility now on their shoulders. While they may have had a reputation for mischief, this assignment was important for their growth and for the stability of the academy.

As they worked together, Cior realized that she was becoming more like the others—learning to balance her playful nature with her growing sense of responsibility. And with her friends by her side, the task at hand seemed like just another adventure waiting to unfold.

Amidst the training, the teasing, and the growing friendships, Cior began to forget the deeper reason she was here. The revenge that once fueled her every decision seemed distant, buried beneath the laughter and camaraderie she now shared with her friends. The truth—that she was a girl, disguised as a boy in an all-male academy—no longer felt as urgent as it once had. It was easy to get lost in the present, to let the weight of her past fade into the background. But as she caught a glimpse of herself in a reflection, a small reminder of her true purpose surfaced. She wasn't just here to blend in; she had a mission to fulfill, and the clock was ticking.

" Maybe I was too lost in being Cior that I forget I was lunette" she said
