Jake knew that if they had normal guns he could survive a few shots before being immobilized and even if he gave up his food they would probably kill him anyway, so fight or flight were his only options. Grabbing his spear and peeking out the door, could see more than 10 men holding assault rifles and shotguns. Each of the men had a beer belly or buff physique, giving the group some contrast. Either way there was no way they could outdo Jake in strength nor speed, so fighting them was his safisted option, and it would give him some experience. On the other hand, he wasn't sure how Jerrys friends would feel about him killing other humans.
'I might as well'
Jake thought to himself. The spear went in his inventory and he grabbed two knives, running full speed before they knew what was coming. Even without his full abilities he could feel the air flow around him the same way his spatial reconstruction showed the movement. Bullets began to fly as he narrowly dodged most of them and made sure the others were all non lethal.
Even if a steel knife couldn't block a shot, it could most definitely be put at an angle to redirect them away from him, but without any practice this failed at some small points. He was shot twice in the chest and three times in the left arm before he got close enough to start the slaughter.
Jake's knife jabbed directly in the first one's neck, immediately cutting through the side to slit another's throat. Spear and knife combat were very similar, the only difference being handle length, so he could apply his knowledge of spears to experty thread his attacks through their necks and arms. He stabbed through arteries in their hands, making them drop their guns and slashed their ankles when he was forced to duck, making them all either dead, disarmed, or kneeling before him. He finished all 10 of them in less than 2 minutes with his inhuman speed. He finished them all up with a knife to the back of their necks, looking over to see the fearful stares of the building's inhabitants. Just as any other work, he had gotten completely in the zone and mentaly blocked out the system's notifications.

It was a pretty simple ability that would come in handy for getting stronger, but leveling up wasn't very useful as it only gave the potential for more stats rather than skill. Another gunshot flew past his head, way faster than any of the other ones that had approached him. Jake's head swiveled toward a tall woman holding a bolt action sniper, getting another shot into the barrel.
Jake may not have had much experience with guns, but he pulled two small shotguns out of his inventory from the ones he had looted from the previous gang and aimed. No matter how bad his aim was, the sheer amount of bullets was bound to at least distract from her weapon.
Charging in wasn't quite as effective this time, as even if her stats weren't as high she was clearly trained in at least one form of hand to hand combat. He broke through he bones with a single hit with the gun's barrel but she barely reacted to the pain and continued expertly dodging. Without his immunity to decay a person could at most take a single gel, meaning that her natural dexterity was at least at the peak of humanity.
"Goddamn monster, im not going out to a stupid zombie!"
'So she assumes a zombie? I guess I am a lot faster than a human.'
"Nice try, but no way a zombie could match my speed."
"Huh?"
She froze for a second, letting one of Jake's shotgun barrels bash into the jaw and knock him into the wall.
"Wait wait wait… if you're human then let me live!! I promise I can help! I can fight and scavenge."
Jake thought about it for a moment, she could definitely fight. His current group was pretty useless in terms of combat, and he would definitely need another fighter in case there were multiple targets that needed to go down at once. At the same time she was just trying to kill him, and couldn't be trusted without any proof she could be loyal. Jake lowered his weapons before speaking again.
"Fine, let's go."
An earshatering roar could be heard outside, upon looking Jake recognised the mutant zombie that was coming up the building. This one had a heavy focus on magic, being only one of the only low level mutant zombies to do so. It was called a burrower, and even though it had relatively low stats it could move through the earth with ease and would burst out from under its enemies, making it the most dangerous in surprise attacks on survivor bases.
It quickly moved up, revealing its form. It had no eyes and looked more like a buff caterpillar with disperposibily long arms and a mouth that took up its entire head. It let out another disheartening search before popping up below his new companion. She was able to recover in the air before almost landing directly in its mouth.
Fortunately Jake's shotgun was able to knock it back a few feet and let her safely hit the ground and take her own weapon out and begin shooting. It jumped back into the ground and started speeding itself, moving around the room at high speeds and leaping out like a dolphin to try and attack.
They could both dodge it as its dexterity wasn't too high despite its speed but they also couldn't hit it with bullets because it was constantly underground. Jake switched out his shotguns in for a salt covered spear, making use of his new inventory that could be used in combat. With this he could stab through the ground and hit the burrower where it was previously safe. He was able to skewer the zombie and hold it up to be shot by his new allies sniper rifle.
