Malcom released a deep sigh before continuing, "I guess for some, it will look like a way out, but to me, it's too much for an ending..." 

He paused and then took the rope from the hanged man. He cut it into two small pieces and handed one to Skyler. 

"They say it brings good luck," he remarked with a forced smile. There was a glint of sadness and disappointment in his eyes. 

Taking one's own life was perhaps this was one of the reasons why he was not completely feeling bad regarding the history of the treasures that he was using. 

There were those people that were willing to sacrifice one's self to produce a very powerful artifact. Not all, but some would. 

Skyler looked at him, somewhat terrified, and with a serious expression, she nodded stiffly. 

They were silent as they looked at the corpses of the hanged men around with complicated expressions.
