章節 259: The Battles Begin!
"Quick! We have to make it before the first round starts!"
People flooded into their seats, excitement buzzing throughout the air. They all naturally were excited to see the battles in the latest holographic technology!
The matches were recently released:
First it was solos, Guilds then non-Guild players. Followed by Trios, Guilds first. Then lastly the battle of six. Guilds first.
There was blatant favoritism towards the Guilds, however that was actually what the most popular vote was. Instead of making the decision themselves, the representatives of A World's Legacy made an in-game poll.
Who was to go first?
The winner was the Guilds, with a sixty percent vote.
This was due to the Guilds being far more known and popular. They had far more fans than the non-Guild teams. So the vote was as expected to many. As people sat in their assigned seats they watched the holographic countdown. Around five seconds they joined in the countdown. As it hit zero they cheered in excitement.
"Welcome everyone to A World's Arena!"
A figure appeared as a hologram, dressed neatly they spoke with their arms outstretched, "I'm sure you're ready to get right into the action, but first some introductions!"
He pointed to the northern spectating box above the stadium, "Our hosts and commentators! Let's give a round of applause for Henry Harrison and John Snow!"
A round of applause was given, slightly embarrassing those in the northern spectating box.
The hologram man continued, "Now while many of you know this I shall quickly explain what is going to happen. Every match will last no longer than thirty minutes. Our specially assigned referee will make sure that no nonsense is happening. And all battles will be happening here."
The hologram man looked towards the camera, "For our livestream folks, we appreciate your presence! Be sure to support your favorite teams through the chat!"
He snapped his fingers, "Now let's get onto the main show! Who shall be our first fighters?!"
A hologram of two boxes appeared, symbols moved quickly. Soon two random names and their respective Guild appeared. They're in-game characters appearing underneath.

Cheers spread as the fans grew wild that their favorite Guild was chosen. The livestream chat buzzed with activity, the chat too fast to properly read.
"Alright! Now let's get the ball rolling! What arena shall they fight in?"
The surroundings changed and a wheel began spinning. It slowed to a stop, the words on the wheel enhanced for all to see.

Lake Forever Frozen
The hologram man snapped his fingers, "I leave it to our hosts now, but before I go. . . Let the match. . . Begin!"
The hologram swiftly changed, showing the map in full. It was a flat surface, clearly a lake with ice and snow. A few barren trees around the edges of the lake.
Two figures appeared from lines of white light. These two were Unyielding Blossom and Arising Blade.
John began to commentate, "And they're in! From the start of things this matchup is not looking too good."
Henry bounced off the statement, "Indeed, contrary to his name Arising Blade is not anyone of the sword class, but instead an Archer!"
"Given the flat surface and lack of cover, from the start Unyielding Blossom is already at a disadvantage!"
Unyielding Blossom charged forward, already aware of her early disadvantage. Arising Blade quickly drew an arrow and fired it.
Unyielding Blossom flicked her sword and knocked the arrow out of the sky, gaining impressed murmurs from the crowd.
Henry was quick to commentate, "An impressive move! Showcasing her skill Unyielding Blossom is proving that the disadvantage means nothing!"
"I wouldn't be too sure about that. Arising Blade hasn't even begun!"
Arising Blade shot several arrows, all of which were easily deflected. Despite his attacks not working, a confident smile remained on his face.
After shooting another three arrows he then pulled an additional fourth on his bow. Yellow lightning crackled at the tip and sprang forward. The arrow flying through the air, lightning arcs crackling.
"A Skill right off the bat! An Uncommon Skill for Archers, but not unseen! The [Paralyzing Shot]!"
John added, "Unlike most arrow effects, [Paralyzing Shot] doesn't need to fully hit its target! Merely making contact with the arrow is enough!"
Unyielding Blossom slid under the arrow, dodging it completely.
"But it seems it was just bait!"
Arising Blade shot an arrow with a purple glow towards Unyielding Blossom's head.
Moving slightly she changed position mid-slide and the arrow sailed past.
"Ooh! A quick reaction makes another arrow miss!"
"But that arrow-!"
Unyielding Blossom's eyes narrowed upon seeing her target disappear. The only reasonable deduction was-!
"A rare Skill for any player! A teleportation Skill! It seems that arrow wasn't meant to hit in the first place!"
"But this gives away his ranged advantage! Just what is his plan?!"
Arising Blade shot several arrows, coursing through the air. Flames flickering at their tips. A bone stuck out her arm as she stabbed it into the ice. Her slide changed and made her turn, the bone acting as an axle. Using her sword she deflected the most dangerous arrows, the others were dodged.
"She's used her hidden class' ability!"
"Unyielding Blossom's class is the hidden class Bonemancer! Expending MP to create bones of different shapes, sizes, and uses!"
"Using such an ability she had changed her position and is back on the offensive!"
"It seems like Arising Blade's sudden attack proved fruitless! Also ridding of his early advantage!"
Unyielding Blossom swung her sword, aiming to quickly lacerate Arising Blade's chest.
Arising Blade dodged and fired an arrow close range. Unyielding Blossom barely managed to escape the close ranged attack and quickly returned on the offensive.
She stabbed towards Arising Blade's shoulder, her goal to eliminate his ability to move the arm. Thus removing his ability to draw his bow. Arising Blade slid to the side and grabbed Unyielding Blossom's arm. Pulling her to throw her off balance he kneed her stomach.
The crowd made a simultaneous 'ooh'.
"And the first hit was landed! Contrary to our thoughts Arising Blade is not helpless in close combat!"
Arising Blade quickly continued and used his strength to lift Unyielding Blossom and slammed her into the ground with a Judo throw.
Henry did not miss this, "A Judo throw! This is why Arising Blade was so confident in his abilities!"
Unyielding Blossom was not going to just lay there. Suddenly two sharp bones extended from the ground and rapidly aimed towards Arising Blade. He quickly flipped over Unyielding Blossom, dodging the dangerous bones.
"A retaliation from Unyielding Blossom! But it's ineffective!"
"However she created some distance, giving her time to get up and recover!"
Unyielding Blossom quickly returned to her feet and charged forward. Now knowing what her opponent was capable of in close combat, she wasn't about to let it happen again. She aimed a swing towards Arising Blade's leg. As he reacted he suddenly realized his mistake.
It was a feint!
She turned her blade and swung upwards.
"A feint attack! Perhaps this will even the score-!"
Arising Blade denied all expectation, instead he jumped up with surprising speed and power. Using his hand he pressed against Unyielding Blossom's shoulder and did a flip over her.
As he rotated through the air he pulled the string of his bow. An arrow that crackled with yellow electricity was launched.
"With a beautiful dodge Arising Blade attacks back!"
Unyielding Blossom spun, the arrow missing once again. As she ended her spin she threw a sharp bone towards the area Arising Blade was going to land.
The bone pierced his stomach, causing him to stumble and miss his landing.
The crowd went wild, such a quick and showy exchange!
"What a counter! Let's get that in an instant replay!"
The hologram showed the flip again in slow motion. Along with Unyielding Blossom's dodge and counter attack.
"Now the favor has been returned! With both sides taking a blow each their fight is now even!"
Arising Blade pulled out the bone with a wince and threw it aside, "Impressive, didn't think you could dodge that."
"It wasn't difficult."
"Oho~ cold are we? Let's step it up a notch then!"
Their words could be heard by the crowd. Many fans of Jumpstart Pavilion, mainly fans of Unyielding Blossom, cheered at her response.
John quickly continued his commentary, "What's this? In a surprising turn of events, the one charging towards their opponent is Arising Blade!"
"Is he planning on fully using his close combat skills in battle?"
The two quickly clashed. Arising Blade dodged many of Unyielding Blossom's attacks and counter attacked. But the counter attacks were easily blocked.
"What a fierce exchange! Neither side is giving a single opportunity to their opponent!"
"The question is, who will be the first to gain the upper hand?"
Unyielding Blossom aimed a stab towards Arising Blade's shoulder. The Archer attempted another Judo throw, but the moment his hands touched her arm bones pierced through them! A sharp bone formed in Unyielding Blossom's off-hand and she swiftly stabbed into Arising Blade's side.
"And Unyielding Blossom has taken control of the battle!"
