Staff cried out in pain. The colorful lion bit into its neck. Staff caused a ripple of lightning across its coat, eroding the paint of the lion. With a stubborn growl the lion didn't let go. Instead it doubled down on its attack.
The spider shot a colorful web towards Staff, binding it in place. The lion then let go and distanced itself. Meanwhile Staff struggled under the web.
Jarvis stopped playing [Bird's Song]. Instead he played a tune to recall Staff into his book. The deer turned into a set of colors that easily moved through the web. Then it planted itself on the page in the book. The beautiful drawing of Staff surrounded by plants, lightning crackling at its horn, changed slightly. Wounds around its neck was shown, blood on its fur.
Jarvis stopped playing the song, "Our abilities are somewhat similar. The difference is that I store my tames. While you create."
Fossil continued painting but still responded, "A shame, limited by your own abilities. Unable to truly express yourself."
"I'm afraid you're wrong about that. I can only truly express myself with my tames I bonded with. Compared to you who makes their creation do as they please."
"You fail to understand the beauty of my artwork. However I shall not hold this against you, for you are not the first."
Jarvis now had to wait for his tame summoning, for it was on cooldown. Bo and To were dodging the spider's web. As it began to cover its surroundings.
Jarvis did have a single thing he could use, but he was extremely unwilling. For the backlash of using it would be something he definitely didn't desire.
Jarvis' abilities could be chalked up to his book. It held all of his combat power, the home of all his tames. His flute-like instrument was the controller of the book, as they go hand-in-hand with each other. Without these objects his entire skillset along with his class becomes null. However even these powerful objects come with limitations.
[The Instrument of Life:
Rarity: Legend Creating
A flute-like instrument. The only object capable of controlling The Book of Life. Created by a lonesome individual, who wished only to play songs for nature.
(This is a set with The Book of Life.)]
[The Book of Life:
Rarity: Pinnacle (Suppressed)
A book capable of containing and archiving all living life forms of nature. A creation by nature itself, the reason for its creation remains unknown.
Attack:
???
Requirements:
Tamer's Legacy Class
When Equipped:
- Gain access to all abilities of Tamer's Legacy.
- Increased Favorability with nonhuman creatures.
- Mutual understanding between tames.
Extra Skills:
{Nature Containment: Stores a creature who has a high favorability with the user within a page, giving them access to a home tailored for their living. (Requires The Instrument of Life.)}
{Nature Release: Summons a creature that was originally stored within a page. (Requires The Instrument of Life.) (Limited to two.)}
{Naming of Nature: Allows the user to name a creature who they have high favorability with.}
{Bonding with Nature: Any creature within The Book of Life will have their abilities restricted to the same level as the user.}
{Evolution of Nature: Any creatures that are bonded with the user will no longer face strict requirements to evolve. They will forever grow alongside the user. (Certain hidden evolution requirements may still apply.)}
{Call of Nature: A call for assistance for all creatures inside The Book of Life. Immediately summoning five creatures within (may be increased through certain criteria). After ten minutes all creatures will immediately be called back to The Book of Life. In exchange for breaking through the limits, the skill 'Nature Release' will be temporarily disabled for 24 hours. The skill 'Nature Containment' will be disabled for all new creatures for 1 week.}]
Current Status: Suppressed
-Many abilities and skills are hidden from the user.
The skill [Call of Nature] was the skill he was unwilling to use. A week was a long time to be unable to tame more creatures. To be unable to store them would be such a waste. However if things progressed badly, he may have no choice. . .

"You're quite sturdy.", Kan'na praised.
Kirin didn't respond but instead sent several bolts of lightning towards Kan'na. This was, of course, neutralized with little effort.
Kirin tapped the ground with her staff three times. Suddenly a large thunderbolt struck her from above. Kan'na subconsciously closed her eyes from the bright light.
She recovered shortly, only to see Kirin's appearance change. Her robes changed into a set of glowing purple ones, lightning crackled off of it occasionally. She casually pointed her staff at Kan'na, "[Thunderstrike]."
Boom-!
A thick lightning bolt immediately crashed into Kan'na. The force behind the attack was strong as sent her sliding back.
Once she recovered Kan'na immediately repaired her damage shields. The strike was sudden and powerful, it had no chants?!
Kan'na gave a small smile, "Instant cast, very nice!"
She snapped her fingers, on her back a magic circle began to glow. She had prepared this beforehand. It spun and immediately split apart into fifty smaller magic circles. The rose above Kan'na and tilted to face Kirin.
Kirin's eyes widened upon seeing this. She immediately began to chant, proving that not all her abilities were instant cast. However Kan'na wasn't going to wait.
The magic circles fired, a barrage of elemental attacks descended upon Kirin. Interrupting her chant Kirin instead casted another set of spells, "[Wall of Lightning], [Spirit of Thunder]."
A wall of lightning appeared and blocked many of the spells, however it failed to defend against them all. Meanwhile the small pet Kirin had before was re-summoned and immediately began tearing through the spells that threatened to hurt Kirin.
Kan'na didn't stop there, as Kirin was being bombarded she was creating another magic circle. She hadn't ever tested a spell like this. Spells that failed had major backlash in her previous world, especially if they were powerful. This sort of restriction followed in A World's Legacy, with a few different restrictions. For instance if they were made properly but she lacked the MP to complete it, it would simply disappear. Similarly to how chants can usually be interrupted. However if the user forcefully canceled, or failed to say the proper chants. It instead would go on cooldown for double the original length, along with taking double the required MP.
For Kan'na it was different. Not only does her current spells immediately cancel, but a failed magic circle would instead cause the nearby Mana to go rampant. Failing all spells and causing chaos to all beings who held Mana. The only way to fail was to improperly form the magic circle, and that's what she was intending to do.
Once Kirin managed to defend against all the incoming attacks. A magic circle appeared above her. She immediately controlled the lightning spirit to defend any incoming attacks, however the magic circle acted strangely.
The ordinary slow spinning became erratic. The magic circle began to change into a deep red color and sparked. The circle cracked and shattered, after a single silent second. . . everything drastically changed.
Her lightning spirit was swept up immediately, being shredded. Her lightning cloak was also similarly shredded. Leaving her with her old equipment. Kirin's surroundings warped strangely, colors began to mismatch. She attempted to flee with a teleporting spell, but it failed.
For the first time during the battle, she genuinely had no idea what was happening. . . yet it was only the beginning.
Her head was assaulted by a splitting headache. Her vision switched between blurry and distorted. A constant ringing noise could be heard.
Kirin's left eye burst to pieces, leaving nothing but a fraction of its remains. Gritting her teeth she felt as the mana ran rampant, as if angered by what had just occurred. It ripped her body apart and drained her HP.
Kan'na frowned at the outcome, last time she failed a spell she only had to face a terrible headache. She wasn't sure if it was because the spell was a minor one, or maybe her teacher contained the rampaging Mana.
Yet she still had to face similar consequences, albeit not as harsh. She faced the headache, her body felt like it was being pierced by thousands of needles. Her skin ripped, leaving grievous wounds. Yet she grit her teeth and fled the scene, each step sending a wave of pain into her head.
After two minutes of walking, though it felt like hours, she finally escaped the rampant Mana. She collapsed onto the ground, exhausted.
Due to her Mana being tugged along with the rampant kind, she was unable to control it. She was unable to cast any spells, her body too in pain to attempt anything else. The best she could do was wait until her own Mana calmed down. Until then. . . she closed her eyes and began to fall asleep.
Her thoughts were simple, "I regret doing that. . ."

"Good! Feel your surroundings, feel the difference around you."
Travis focused focusing around him. It was then...
Clang~!
Travis blocked an incoming blow! Dimitrin immediately stopped, slightly startled at the outcome. This progression was a little fast? The candidate hadn't shown this much potential within the first few weeks. What caused the sudden growth?
However Dimitrin gave a small smile, at this rate the candidate would have no issue at the battle for the true candidate. Which would mean a lot to their future, and would be worth Dimitrin's time.
They continued the practice, there was still a large amount of times Travis missed an attack. However he was steadily, and rapidly, improving. He himself was shocked.
It was just coming to him naturally, he never felt like this before. Where was this talent in his previous timeline?! Had he been this talented his life wouldn't have ended in betrayal!
Despite being slightly upset at this, he still was excited. This could mean that his skill would be on par with the various top experts! Even if they had the same stats!
In his past life the beginning gaming experts were those who had good motor skills, large gaming experience, and a large amount of luck or support. However once the highly skilled NPCs began training players, new behemoths would arise. The top ten experts would constantly change, except for one position.
The worldwide number one expert, a character named Opportunity Strikes. A crazy strong player, who truly began to show her strength around the level 300 era. Despite receiving several challenges, she never had to break a sweat to win.
Many speculated on how she grew so strong. What sort of equipment she had found, what kind of training she underwent. The only thing that was known about her came from those who had the honor to duel with Opportunity Strikes. This information was sparse, the only thing commonly known was their incredible strength and their violent fighting style with two hand axes.
Travis personally couldn't wait to challenge them, however that day would be so far away. . .
For now he would improve himself!
