Despite both being at the peak of the Tier 4 Mage Realm, they recognized that the fallen mage, was a high Tier 5, and had been the strongest among them and was therefore allowed to lead by their master.

But his head had been severed with a single swipe, leaving them puzzled and uncertain about whether to advance or retreat—either option seemed fraught with peril.

If they retreated, their master would surely punish them; advancing seemed to promise only certain death, especially when they saw the fierce determination in Alec’s eyes.
