His hair, a disheveled bun of yellowed locks, stood out bluntly against the image of a man who should have had luscious black strands and a vibrant—or at least normal—complexion.
Though he appeared tidy, the clothes hanging on his frame told a tale of raggedness and age, emphasizing the struggles he had endured. The robes were too big for his rail thin frame, his collar bones clearly visible.
Midwife Lee, the 'dad' to two children, sat there, only a year or so older than Xu Feng, yet bearing the burden of a decade worn life.
