Later that day, Nagy led Erik on a guided tour of the structure.

The first part of the building hosted the administration department: an office as far away as possible from the cells where the prisoners were kept, and a large archive, with both paper and digital files. About fifty people worked there, all government employees.

”I thought the hospital was run by the medical police,” Erik said, surprised.

”It is,“ Nagy confirmed, “but this office handles the data we gather. Some kind of outsourcing, I suppose.”

Erik did not know why, but it seemed vaguely wrong. This data belonged to the polices; it didn’t seem correct that citizens would handle it. But why should he care? Now all he had to do was put on his uniform, show up for shifts, and avoid asking the wrong questions.

After the administration department he was shown the infirmary, the kitchen, the police canteen, some interrogation rooms and various service rooms.
