章節 39: A Calculated Strike

Evelyn's sharp eyes scanned the battlefield, analyzing every detail with the precision of a seasoned commander. Amidst the chaos, she noticed a critical opening. Kai, the mountain of muscle and fury, was fully engrossed in his battle with the monstrous bear. Lysander, the cunning strategist of Moonshade's team, was trapped in a pit, out of commission for the time being. It was a rare opportunity—one that might not present itself again.

"Khalid, Darius!" Evelyn's voice cut through the noise, commanding authority and focus. "Now's our chance! Kai's left their flag unguarded. We need to strike now before they can regroup!"

Khalid, still burning with the desire to bring down Lysander, hesitated for a moment, but Evelyn's piercing gaze kept him in check. "We go for the flag, Khalid," she insisted, her tone leaving no room for argument. "We win this war, not by personal vendettas, but by seizing victory when the chance arises."

Darius, always the stoic one, nodded in agreement, his eyes narrowing as he calculated the odds. "We may be outnumbered, but our skills surpass theirs. We can do this."

Without wasting another second, the trio, along with their comrades, made their move. They weaved through the battlefield, using the chaos to their advantage. Moonshade's forces, though superior in numbers, were disorganized without their leader's guidance. One by one, Evelyn's team cut through the opposition with precision, their swords and tactics honed to perfection.

However, as they neared the enemy's flag, something unexpected occurred. Despite his severe injuries—gashes across his arms, and blood seeping through his armor—Kai's rage boiled over. His battle with the beast reached a fever pitch, and in a terrifying display of raw power, he went berserk. With a roar that echoed through the mountains, Kai cleaved through the bear's thick hide, his blade tearing into its flesh. Blood sprayed across the snow as the creature's life was snuffed out in a violent end.

But Kai's bloodlust was far from sated. He turned his attention to the battlefield, his eyes wild and frenzied. Evelyn's team, closing in on the flag, suddenly found themselves facing a force of nature, a warrior driven beyond reason.

Back at their own flag, Kenshin stood vigilant. Despite his blindness, his other senses were heightened, allowing him to detect even the slightest shifts in the battlefield. As ordered, he defended the flag with unyielding determination. A few of Moonshade's kids had attempted to sneak past, believing Kenshin to be an easy target, but they were swiftly defeated. His movements were fluid and precise, each strike a testament to the hours of rigorous training he had endured.

But as the wind shifted, Kenshin felt a sudden change in the atmosphere. His heart quickened as a sense of danger washed over him. Something was wrong—something he couldn't quite place, but it was there, lurking on the edges of his perception. His grip tightened on his weapon, and he braced himself, knowing that whatever was coming, he would be ready to face it head-on.
