章節 16: Bring Your Friend
Liu Xiuying's apartment.
Qiao Liuli stared at her phone blankly. She could not remember Liu Xiuying saying she had a particular person as a friend. As long as she could remember, her daughter had no friends from her primary school till she got to college, and she didn't think her daughter would lie to her, so she believed her.
Since her daughter told her not to cook dinner for her, she left the apartment and went to the hospital.
When she told Old Liu that their daughter went out with a friend and she wouldn't be back until late at night, Old Liu told her, "Call her and tell her to bring her friend here with her later at night"

PRAD.
When Liu Xiuying received a call from her mother telling her to bring her friend, she started to panic. If she told another lie, her parents would start to suspect her and she didn't want that to happen. She only said, "Okay and that's if my friend wants to come"
She had received so many glares and stares from both men and women while coming into the office with Mo Yanlin. She wondered if it was because she was Mo Yanlin's female assistant.
She had yet to place her phone down when she got a call from Mo Yanlin telling her that she and Zhen Tai would follow him to the meeting he had in the afternoon.
Liu Xiuying started preparing for the meeting. She had never attended any meeting with Mo Yanlin before and she was a bit excited.

In the meeting hall, Zhen Tai sat at the left while Liu Xiuying sat at the right. The room was dark, only leaving a little light from the projector as they displayed some documents and other stuff on the screen.
Liu Xiuying's head was lowered the whole time, but when she heard Mo Yanlin's deep and cold voice say, "Is that all you have?", She raised her head. Her calm and focused gaze landed on Mo Yanlin. Because it was dark, she wasn't able to see his facial expression, but she knew that he was angry at this moment.
Mo Yanlin leaned back into his chair, his fingers slowly tapping on the long table, making sounds that made one heart jump and his eyes stared straight at the person presenting at this moment.
It was so quiet that Liu Xiuying could hear her own heartbeats.

Two hours passed and the meeting ended. Liu Xiuying had been sitting for too long and when she stood up, she felt pains in her legs and almost fell. Luckily for her, she was caught by a man who smiled at her. "Are you okay?"
Liu Xiuying straightened her back and smiled at him. "Thank you sir. I'm fine"
At this very moment, she felt her back froze when she felt a piercing gaze fall on her body. She raised her head and her gaze landed on Mo Yanlin who was staring at her, coldly.
Her smile froze and she pulled her hand away from the man that was holding her and then, she hurriedly arranged the things on the desk in front of her before walking towards Mo Yanlin. "Mr. Mo-"
"You can go back to your office now" that familiar cold voice interrupted her, sending chills down her spine. She turned and left the meeting hall.
Before she left, when she walked past the man who helped her earlier, she smiled thank you at him again before she left. Mo Yanlin's dark eyes didn't miss that scene and his face darkened.
He looked at the man, his eyes looked like they were shooting daggers at the man's body.
The man trembled uncontrollably under his dark and cold gaze.

During Lunch break.
Like usual, Zhen Tai went to buy lunch for Mo Yanlin. Mo Yanlin wasn't used to eating from the company cafeteria, so he didn't go there to eat. There was a time when they all gossipped about Mo Yanlin coming to eat with the staff in the company cafeteria, but that day didn't come.
The company cafeteria had the top chefs cooking for the staff there and the foods were like those sold in five-star restaurants and it was difficult to see it in those small restaurants.
Liu Xiuying felt like she wouldn't be able to eat this type of food from other places apart from a five-star restaurant.
After eating, she returned to her office and continued with her work. As his personal assistant, she didn't have a lot of work to do. Mo Yanlin also had secretaries that worked for him and most of the jobs she had to do were all done by the secretaries.

Late at night.
Liu Xiuying stayed back till Mo Yanlin was done and ready to go home, so she drove him home. After she parked the car, Quang drove her home. She called her mom to tell her that she had arrived home and her "friend" wouldn't be coming with her to the hospital.
"YingYing, is that your friend a man or a woman?"
Qiao Liuli asked her daughter.
Liu Xiuying was shocked by her mom's question, but she still replied, "Mom, it's a female friend"
"I'm not saying that you shouldn't keep male friends, but if you have one, just let us know" Qiao Liuli was worried that her daughter would think otherwise, so she explained.
"I understand, mom"
After ending the call, she stretched and went into her bedroom with her hands on her waist. She hadn't called Dai Mao for sometime now and she was starting to miss the little girl. Since it was late already, she didn't bother to call her anymore. She was scared that she would disrupt Dai Mao's sleep.
She sat on the chair in her room, opened her laptop and started working on it. She didn't have friends to chat with, so she read the chats in her class group. From time to time, she would laugh.
When it was after 11pm, she yawned and closed her laptop, stood up to lie down on the bed. She turned off the lights and closed her eyes.

Liu Xiuying hadn't had a single rest since she got to PRAD that day. She had a lot to do and didn't have time for herself. When it was lunch break, Zhen Tai bought her lunch, telling her to eat it in her office instead of going to the company cafeteria to eat.
Liu Xiuying was so touched and smiled at him. "Thank you Assistant Tai"
Zhen Tai raised his arm, making an 'okay' sign with his fingers and smiled at her before leaving.
Liu Xiuying ate the western Chinese food before going back to continue her work. When it was time to leave, Liu Xiuying drove Mo Yanlin home like usual. Instead of driving her home, she told Quang to take her to the hospital.
Her parents wanted her to bring her friend whom she had been visiting, but there was no friend, so she had to go there alone.
Before she entered the ward, she removed her work ID and kept it in her handbag, then she entered the ward
