Ben walked up to the walls edge to look at the battlefield. The enemy could be said to be strong but strange too. However, they all had one thing in common, black hair that clung to their bodies and their freakishly pale skin. Alan came up to Ben at the walls edge and was shocked at what he saw.
Earth Elemental Swordsmen were the ones holding the front line of defense. Although they are one of the fewest bunch it was their strength and power that cover up for their number. They were responsible for hindering the enemy's advance into the city while ordinary archers and Elemental Archers with Elemental seeds fired their deadly weapons.
The enemy wasn't standing still while all this transpired, in fact, their counterattacks were even more deadlier than that of the human side.
A giant beast with features of a bulldog but with no eyes and a single horn in its forehead was seen entering the battle. On its neck was what resembled fish gills. It was covered in thick brown fur but just twenty minutes after it's appearance it was now covered in more red than brown as the blood of countless people was spilled on it.
It stood more than five metres into the air, only the elemental damage of Spellcasters, Elemental Swordsmen and Elemental Archers could affect it. Ordinary weapons were useless in the face of such a beast.
Ben saw a figure racing to fight the dog creature with great agility he had doubt if that would have been possible if he wasn't seeing it himself.
"... Mia?" Ben said the first name that came into his mouth immediately he saw the agile movements and signature hair.
"Who?" Alan who stood beside been like a bodyguard asked when he heard him say something.
"Where's that Knight?" Ben asked.
"You mean Knight Eldon? Let me take you to him, he should be at the command room right not."
With that Alan directed Ben towards the command room since Ben had no idea where that was. It also wasn't bad having someone as a guide.
"What are you doing here, soldier? You should be... You, what do you want?" Knight Eldon stopped giving Alan an earful when he saw a face he didn't want to see for a while.
Ben didn't immediately answer Knight Eldon because there were other people in the command room with him. But after giving it a thought he asked. "Who's the woman with Ice Elemental seed and silver hair?"
"She's our companion. I'm sorry, but if you have a thing for her you'll have to get to the back of a very long line boy." Ander answered wondering what the young man wants from Mia at a time like this. Are young men nowadays driving into action through their lower body? he thought to himself.
"Your companion? And who may you be, sir?" Ben asked humbly, a complete contrast to how he treated Knight Eldon.
"I am Mullin and this here is Ander. And who are you boy?" Mullin answered in place of Ander.
Ben looked at the two and then Eldon before proclaiming. "I am Benjamin Williams of Moonlight Kingdom."
"Huh. Did you say Williams of Moonlight? You mustn't be the soon of baron Williams, are you?"
"Baron? When I had left home my father was only but a Lord. I am guessing that is Mia, right?"
"Indeed is the cold Mia, who else would it be? She's been looking everywhere for you boy?" Ander laughed.
Ben's eyes twitched when he heard the word 'boy' directed at him for the third time. He tried shaking it of with a laugh. "Haha, yes. She's always cold to... Wait, what did you mean she's been looking everywhere for me?"
"It's best if you hear it from her herself. We just have to pass through this ordeal. We've heard you've got skills boy, why not show us what you've got." Mullin said with a smile, he could tell been was brimming with great energy and power... but maybe even more.
"Sure thing." Ben first took out a pair of blue gloves before pulling out a great sword from his Badlands collection. Although he hasn't met the requirements to fully use the power of the magic sword he felt it more ideal too use in the current situation than his hand made weapons.
Both Ander and Mullin gasp in utter shock. Forget acting aloof in front of Knight Eldon, it was just not possible for them to not act like so when something of such caliber was in front of them. Being old monsters didn't just come with age, but memories of the past.
But Ben didn't know any of this as he made his way towards the city wall. His body suddenly got engulfed in blazing red flames, with a powerful leap he feel like a meteorite into the battlefield. Dozens of energy lives were taken by that single jump. He died his sword horizontally taking the lives of four more possessed.
Ben took the time of their distraction to take s closer look at these things. Their eyes were completely black and devoid of emotions or feelings. They were acting no different than crazed creatures, having no rhyme nor pattern, only attacking to kill while disregarding all defences.
Because the action was sudden and unexpected they didn't act fast, with that another five bodies dropped down. By the time they realized what was going on over two dozens of possessed men and women and creatures were dead. Ben's flames were unstoppable. Once they caught something it wouldn't easily go off even with water.
This helped his fire to spread as those caught in the flame would frantically run around to try putting it off, this led to more of the enemy side to get more engulfed. With those around him dear or engulfed in his flame he made a Wind Track and nimbly wove through battles. Everywhere he went lives would be taken and mowed down.
He was their grim reaper today!
Ben's eyes shone as dark green soul remnants and soul essence was drawn towards his loach pendent. Ben knew how hard it was to get soul remnants and essence because if he remembered correctly out of all the demon creature he had killed in the wastelands he could count the numbers of remnants and essence in two hands. But here he was reaping greatly even though he had yet to find out what it was used for. The only time he had such bountiful gains if soul remnants and essence was during his Badlands expenditure.
Ben's exceptional killing spree garnered a lot of attention from both sides of the battlefields. The humans was glad they were being relieved of their burden, but that didn't make the fight stop instead it elevated it even more.
A demon came into the tent housing the three demon commanders. The demons already had one of their demonic dog creature occupied with a capable human, but the appearance of another strong Human was greatly delaying their plans. They have yet to even pass the wall, but a lot of their brethren were already felled. Since they had five demonic dog creatures they sent another one after Ben.
'Unknown species found; Choose a name for identification.' Lucy's voice rang in Ben's head as he stabbed his sword forward.
"The damn thing looks like a hideous, just call it what they are, Hellhound."
'Species: Hellhound has been unleashed. Approaching at 103km/h.'
Ben looked at his right only to see a giant Hellhound racing towards his direction. It's speed was insanely high, it crossed over hundreds of metres in seconds. When it reaches about 50 metres from Ben it leaped and sent it's claws at Ben.
He couldn't do anything, he just stood there. He couldn't even dodge. Right at the nick of time he cast multiple defensive spells on himself. First an Ice armour, it was then topped with and Earth armour and Earth Shield. The Earth Shield spell was a spell given to him by his mentor, Magus Belti.
However, despite being attached with countless powerful spells he was sent flying into the earth by the force of the claw. His body made a cravise of over two hundred metres. The Hellhound roasted to the sky declaring dominance.
Those still at the wall was left dumbfounded when they first saw Ben's display of power, but when they saw him being swatted away like a fly by that huge paw they were not only shocked but sad.
A fine soldier has just fell.
Knight Eldon was at the other side of the wall watching Mia's fight with the first Hellhound that was earlier released when suddenly a Runner ran to him saying Ben got killed by a second Hellhound that has just been released not less than five minutes ago.
It felt like someone you didn't know but have heard a lot was suddenly reported dead. Knight Eldon on the other hand was just sad the little brat didn't last any longer to bring more enemies down before he died. Oh well, many people die in battle anyways. He thought. He turned his focus back to Mia and Hellhound #1 only to be rudely interrupted again as another Runner came barging in, but this time the news was indeed shocking.
"Sir, the young man you tasked is to keep an eye on its not dead!"
"What?!?!" all four of them and a few other officials in the room shouted out loud. Everyone then turned their heads to the first Runner.
"What is this? Did you not say he was felled? Why are we now hearing something else?" Knight Eldon fumed. Could they have heard wrong at first? Looking at the beasts the demons from beyond unleashed, no one under the level of a mage or Fourth-level Elemental Swordsman could possibly survive being knocked by that brute force talk more of creating such a long cravise. Maybe even an Elemental Knight of the First-level might be heavily injured.
"Sir, the man was felled indeed by the Hell beast, but less than ten minutes later or so he stood back up again. He even continued his killing spree rather than facing the Hell beast head on like he did." the words of the second Runner made the first to release a breath he hadn't known he have been holding. The gazes of all these powerful people was just too overwhelming and pressuring.
