"Who are you?" Wen asked evenly, keeping his breathing steady. Whatever was happening was strange, and this man was clearly dangerous.
"I'm Day!" The man chirped, still smiling widely.
"How…how did you get in here? There are guards everywhere!"
"Oh, yeah," Day mused, "I saw those guys. But they looked busy! I avoided them, so I didn't bother them."
Wen was quickly developing a headache. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to apply for a job!"
Wen's headache got worse.
"I can do so many things!" Day said, counting on his fingers, "So many things, you have no idea! Stack boxes, unload boxes, um, write things, write things on boxes."
"Boxes?" Wen raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah!" The man glanced around, "Uh, I mean, this place is very big, so I'm sure there are a lot of boxes around here. But I can also do other things."
"Like?"
"Uhhhh…"
"Boss!" Caid pushed his way into the office, making him the second person to ever come in uninvited. Wen supposed he might as well get rid of the door at this point as it didn't do him any good.
"I heard something over here. Is everything oka–" Caid stopped mid-sentence, having just noticed the other person in the room, "Who is he?"
Wen took a deep breath in. This was it, the time to end this odd and unexpected encounter.
Wen Ro did not make mistakes. He did not tolerate them either. He knew how to deal with intruders, no matter how strange. He drank his tea at 11:15 every day, and he followed the rules. It was now 11:24. His tea sat cold on his desk as he turned to Caid and said, "This is our new employee."
He looked back at Day in time to see his eyes widen and lips again form that small "o" and wondered why it made him so absurdly pleased.
A quick note about the chapters: I try to keep them around the same length, but sometimes they are a bit shorter/longer, depending on what I feel is the best beat to stop at. This one is a little shorter, but there will be longer ones in the future :)
