章節 12: Chapter 12

"Missing? What do you mean she is missing?" Kelvin questioned.

"Have you gone nuts!? He said, angrily raising his voice, making the few patients that were present look at him in a weird way.

He immediately realised and remembered that he was still in the hospital and so he held the phone away from his ear and quickly walked out. He found his way into the garden in the hospital premises but far away from the wards.

As soon as he was away from the piercing eyes of the people around him, he continued his conversation on the phone.

"What nonsense are you saying? Are you saying you can't do a freaking minor job!?" Kelvin furiously asked.

"I'm sorry, sir. I don't know how it happened." Paul, one of Sorin's many guards, responded to his superior, Kelvin.

"How can you say you don't know how it happened? Where were you?" Kelvin asked him further.

"I was in the hospital, sir." Paul responded.

"So she disappeared or grew wings and flew away." Kelvin asked.

"You were supposed to keep an eye on her, you fool! How did she disappear all of a sudden, under your watch? Kelvin said, fuming with rage as he kept pacing.

"What do you think will happen, if news like this gets published, you dimwit." He said, under his breath while looking around to ensure that he wasn't followed or eavesdropped on.

"I'm so sorry sir. I'll find her." Paul said.

"You better do, because if Mr Zaveri finds out, I'm sure you do not need a soothsayer to tell you what will become of you." Kelvin said.

"And you better make sure those media houses are unable to find out what is going on." Kelvin finalised and hung up on Paul before he could respond, after which he hissed in irritation.

"Damn!" Kelvin exclaimed, as he kicked his foot in the air in immense anger.

He began pacing again in the garden, thinking about the next line of action. He was utterly confused,

"What exactly is going on?" He asked himself as he stared sternly at nothing in particular.

"First it was the accident in which we're yet to find the perpetrators and we do not know if they are going to survive it. Now, Mrs Andrea is missing!" Kelvin said to himself as he tried to connect dots that might lead to a positive outcome but there were no dots to connect.

He was still thinking when he saw some doctors running into the Emergency Building, he immediately knew something was up and followed them swiftly.

 ********************

I ran as fast as I could, I ran as fast as my little legs could carry me. Where was I going? I didn't know and I didn't care, I just wanted to run away. As I walked briskly, I felt weak but I kept going. It was like I was being chased, I felt like I was being chased but in reality, no one was chasing me.

I began to think about my life and how I ended up where I was at the moment but every memory seemed like it had been wiped out. The only thing I could hold on to was the fact that I needed to run. That was the only thing that voice in my head was telling me anyway.

Thankfully, the reception wasn't too busy, I watched and patiently waited as the nurse on duty turned her back to pick a file that had dropped and then I seized the opportunity to walk swiftly past her till I walked far down the hallway.

Luckily for me, I was not wearing anything extravagant, I was only wearing an ash track suit which had a hood and so I quickly pulled the hood over my head in disguise. I avoided eye contact with anyone as I kept walking towards the elevator.

As I approached the elevator, I sighted my parents and immediately, I changed my direction. I went in the opposite direction and hid myself behind one of the doors and thankfully they didn't see me. They were so engrossed in whatever it was they were typing on their iPads that they did not see me.

As soon as I confirmed that they were out of sight, I walked back quickly towards the elevator and immediately it stopped, the doors opened. Strangely, there was no one in it, but as I was about to step into it, I looked slightly over my shoulder and I immediately noticed someone in a black fitted suit, looking around like he was looking for someone or something. I covered my head properly and swiftly entered the elevator and then pressed the "ground floor" button. Soon enough, it started moving downwards.

The whirring sound of the elevator made me lost in thoughts once again, as I rested my back against the wall.

"Drea, where are you going?" I asked myself out loud and replied to myself too.

"You have nowhere to go, you have no one to run to. You don't even have a phone to call anyone." I responded, with my arms folded.

Suddenly, I gasped at the thought that came into my mind at that instant.

Kelvin got back to the Emergency Building and as soon as he got to the waiting area, he saw Sorin pacing impatiently and to his surprise, he met some reporters trying to get information from Sorin regarding the accident.

"Sir, do you know who must have done this?" One of the numerous reporters asked.

"How are they doing now?" The second reporter asked.

"Damn! These guys don't know the right time to do all these! Always looking for opportunities!" He muttered under his breath as he speedily approached Sorin.

"Is there any chance they are going to survive at all? Another reporter questioned.

"Are they dead already? Just tell us, man!" Another reporter hurriedly said, raising his voice above the others which left every other person shocked, including Sorin.

Sorin turned to look at him and he began to walk towards him. As Sorin got closer, the reporter walked backwards, trying to avoid Sorin. He was now looking scared and hoping for the ground to swallow him up.

Kelvin saw the rage in Sorin's eyes, he knew he had to do something before things got out of hand. A lot was at stake and there were a lot of reporters present with their cameras rolling. He wasn't just Sorin's personal guard, he was also like a brother to him and would never allow anything bad to happen to him.

Kelvin swiftly jumped in to save the day. He immediately came in between Sorin and the reporter. He knew it was only a matter of time before Sorin punched him in the face and this would have caused a bigger problem and it would have tainted his reputation as well. It sure would have made the front cover of different magazines, no doubt.

"Sir, please don't let them get to you, remember why we are here." He said gently. "We need to leave now, sir. Please." He softly added.

As he said these words, Sorin calmed down a little and walked away from the reporter, who in turn let out a huge sigh of relief.

Kelvin led the way and they both went into the garden, away from the different monitoring eyes of reporters, hospital staff and patients who had then gathered in the waiting area and were watching the whole ruckus.

As they got to the garden, Sorin started pacing again. He was annoyed and it was very obvious.

"Sir, what is going on?" Kelvin asked him.

Sorin stared sternly at him before responding to him.

"Were you blind? What kind of dumb question is that?!" Sorin retorted.

"I'm sorry, sir." He immediately said respectfully, with his head bowed.

"I only asked because you were still in the ICU when I left the waiting area. I di........" Kelvin explained.

"Where the hell did you go to? I expected to meet you there." Sorin said, cutting him off.

I didn't know you were out of there already. I was out here in the garden making some calls. It was when I saw the doctors running in, that was when I came back in and saw those reporters with you, sir." Kelvin explained further.

"Have you found the perpetrators?" Sorin asked.

"No sir, but the call I got was about something different." Kelvin responded.

"What was it about?" Sorin asked, hoping to get a pleasant response.

Kelvin thought for a while, he knew he had to be wise in this situation, he thought of how to break the news to Sorin but this only made Sorin grow impatient.

"Have you completely lost your damn mind?" He said angrily as he moved close to Kelvin.

Suddenly, a crying lady ran towards them and before they knew what was going on, she threw her arms around Sorin and hugged him tightly against his will.

At that moment, there was a clicking sound that caught their attention and a camera flashed its light from all the way across them. Someone had taken a picture of them!
