It was dark now, and a bright full moon was peeking through the cloud cover. It didn't actually matter if it were cloudy or not, for it was a full moon regardless. The effects would be the same.

If any human had been turned into a werewolf, a full moon would be the first night they would shift. After that, a werewolf could change at will, with practise, of course.

Tonight would be Aláine's first shift. Unfortunately for her, it would be here with Viktor and not with her real mate. I don't care what Viktor says; Kristof is her mate, not him.

"Aaaahhhhhh!!!!!!"

It came from upstairs.

Viktor came running out of his office, through the hallway, and upstairs towards Aláine's room. I knew that she had started her shift. It would be a while before she had completely shifted, but it would be painful. It always was the first time.
