“Gwenna?” Leo asked, confusion clearly toying with his voice. “That doesn’t make sense.”
“I thought so too,” I began. “Read what it says.”
Leo leaned forward more and I could feel his breath on the back of my neck. “Azure Mountains, amulet, death of a loved one. Resurrection. I don’t get it. Why would Gwenna be looking at this?”
“I have no idea,” I replied. “I thought you might know. Maybe research for the pups at the school. I mean, we learned this story when I was younger too…”
I knew that wasn’t it, but I was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt for Leo, even if my wolf didn’t agree with me. I didn’t really know what angle I was coming in with here, I just knew that something about Gwenna had seemed off from the second we met, and that somehow, this, along with what I overheard the other night, confirmed it.
