章節 4: CHAPTER 4: The Inn
CHAPTER IV: THE INN
The receptionist handed me the handbook. I exited the Guild Hall into the streets of the city. By the way, the other adventurers that arrived with me disappeared into the higher floors of the building after we arrived. I don't really care where they went so I focused on myself.
The City is very I think late medieval to early Victorian era like. Cobblestone streets with horse drawn carriages. Street vendors selling all kinds of things. Mostly I saw humans but there were a few beastkin and elves.
Some people had chains around their necks and angles while being pulled by noble looking types. I'm guessing they were slaves of some kind. They seemed to be only humans or beastkin as slaves. Maybe elves were too strong or something another.
So anyway, I walked over to the inn the guys told me about. It had big red letters above the entrance that read 'Mikaelson Inn & Tavern'.
With my book in hand, I walked through the giant wooden door and was immediately met with the smell of booze and a manly musk.
To the left were an array of chairs and desks. Men and women of different races drinking, eating, singing and laughing.
The place was pretty lively to be honest. I could barely hear myself think. This was not my scene when sober so I quickly turned to the counter on the right.
The outside was already hot but here it was even hotter. The lights were so dim my eyes could barely adjust. The air was wet, dusty and misty.
I walked up to the tall man behind the counter. He was so tall it was lik e he was a skyscraper. I'm thinking it's because I'm only 5ft 6" tall.
"Can I get a room!?" I asked him.
I could barely see his face because of the dim light and his ridiculous height. I'm pretty sure he was at least 8ft tall. Maybe I'm mistaken but Kaku was about 7ft5" tall but this guy is even taller.
"100 pele a night!" He replied in a weirdly high voice.
"Pele!?" I unconsciously muttered.
"That's the currency in Rostalio!" He answered.
"How much is that in coins dude!?" Shit I said dude. I can 't help it, it's how I speak.
He proceeded to explain the currency system in the kingdom. Basically 10 pele is one copper. 100 copper is 1 silver. 100 silver is 1 gold. I proceeded to hand him 1 silver which should be 10 nights if my math is right. He gave me a vintage skeleton key.
"Room number corresponds to the key number, upstairs!" He explained.
I looked at the key and there was a 4 written on it.
"Food will be brought to you every night at 10 and 7 in the morning!" He added.
Seems a bit late doesn't it. Too early for breakfast too. Maybe it's a common thing in this world.
I nodded along and pr oceeded to the stairs. I quickly found myself in a hallway. I walked along while looking at the numbers on the door. One... two... There... and... four, here we are.
I pushed the key in and turned the lock. The lock clicks as I turn and the door opened. The room was rather plain. A single bed by the wall to the left. A wooden drawer next to it. A window opposite the door. A chair and desk by the wall to the right.
Immediately I walked in and closed the door before heading for the chair. I placed the handbook on the desk and leaned back into the chair. Finally relaxing for the first time today.
After a few seconds I sat up and opened the handbook. 'Etiquette of an Adventurer' it read on the first page. It took me a little more than an hour to read through it.
The sun was still pretty high up so I didn't have anything particular to do at the moment. I already paid for 10 nights which is great. I won't have to worry about money for a good while. I still have 3 gold coins, 48 silver coins and 100 copper pieces. Based on the exchange rate that means I have a little over 30k.
Which means I don't have to go adventuring everyday. For at least the next month I need to train. Get control over the Ki Energy.
To do that I place back the book on the table. I proceed to the bed and sit down in a lotus position. I clear my mind and look deep within myself. Almost immediately I could f eel the energy. It's small but I could definitely feel it.
