CHAPTER XII: RETURN TO THE CITY
An eery silence surrounded me. Everywhere I look are bodies. The head of the lion I just cut down beside me. It's body still gushing out blood.
The soldiers in plate armour surround me with their weapons. Beyond them is an encirclement of thieves in all black.
"You!" I point to the innkeeper's daughter. I don't think I ever got her name. "Tell your boss she owes!" I tell her.
I quickly proceeded to raise my power level even higher. It's not much but it's at least something. I immediately start cutting down the bandits.
I only aim for their heads to cut them down. The rest of the soldiers stand and watch with admonishment.
In a little more than a minute, I cut down about a dozen. The entire areas turned even more bloody. So many corpses that I can barely find a place to walk now.
"Gentlemen! I trust you can handle the rest!" I warn them and casually start my path to the city.
Behind me the bandits and soldiers start fighting each other. I once again turn to the girl.
"Don't forget my favour!" I warn.
I don't plan to stick around for more weird questions. I start running for the city. With my Ki released like this I can probably reach the city before dark.
---
With the chief dead, the meat should return to the city now. I can't wait to fill myself. The giant Lion should be evidence enough. I can feel the drool on my mouth from simply imagining it.
The fatigue seems to have disappeared die to my adrenaline rush. The forest passed by like a blue as I continue to run. I wish I could fly but that's easier said then done.
Within an hour or so my stamina starts to run out.The Ki are me vanished from around me. Fortunately I can already see the city walls. The sun is almost at the horizon.
Like I said I can't really tell the time in this stupid world. With my stamina out I'm forced to start walking.
The area surrounding the city is quite busy. A lot of commuters coming and going. Farmers busy on the fields on the outskirts.
I catch a few glances due to the blood drying on me. I ignore them and continue on through to the city.
The city is busy as always. Nobody here pays any attention to me. I'm short, black and covered in blood. Needless to say I'm really nobody.
I continue through to the inn. I order a bucket of water from the innkeeper and proceed to straight up to my room.
Everything is just as I left it. The innkeeper wife comes in and cleans once a day but she never really touches the staff belong to the tenants. I can't sit on the bed so I sit on the chair. Trying to relax my body and mind.
KNOCK KNOCK!!
"The warm water you ordered!" The innkeeper says.
Well that was fast. I force myself to stand up and open the door. Damn that's a big bucket. Almost like a bath tub made of wood.
The dudes carrying it in his hands like it's nothing. He looks scrawny to me but he must be strong.
"Dinner will be ready shortly!" He says before placing the tub down in the centre of the room. He then casually turns around and exits the room.
"Thank you for the water." I reply.
He simply nods and exits. What a weird guy. Well since I'm stuck in this stupid world for the foreseeable future I have to put up with it.
So far I have yet to receive a second mission. I don't even know if I completed the first mission. I died on earth So maybe I can't return.
If I'm to live here I need to bring a bit of modern technology. There's a lot of staff to think through so I remove all my clothes. Standing as naked as the day I was born I put one foot after another into the tub.
The temperature is just perfect. The water soothe my aching and body. Like crawling back into my mother's womb. Everything is so calm, blissful and serene.
