Lydia began to browse through the entire document. Many things and supernatural beings were mentioned, some even originating from mythology. No one was sure of their actual existence, some appearance could be linked to theme, but there was no doubt that something supernatural was behind it.
'( It's... scaring, all the things this world hides... )' The red-haired girl got chills.
'( But it's instructive... )' Lydia had read everything, and with her own experience of the blue fire she had witnessed, she knew which description best matched the azure and golden flames.
'( Let's first set aside the Will-o'-the-wisps, they don't share the living and gentle nature I felt in the flames... )' Lydia put her hand on her chin and thought, sorting the true from the false.
'( Same for the Aztec Turquoise Lord, it doesn't match at all except maybe the color of the flames... )' She decided.
Lydia continued going through the document, distinguishing what might be related or not as she went along.
'( The description of the salamander, I'm sure there's no connection, it's just a supernatural creature that controls fire... )' She turned the page and arrived at the next one.
'( Same for Amaterasu, the black fire that burns without being extinguished.... )' Lydia continued flipping through the pages, pondering.
'( The alchemical fire used in alchemy... hmmm...no... )'
'( Hellhounds and their destructive fire... no... )'
She went through several pages until she arrived at one where the title caught her attention.
'( Sacred fire of the Phoenix... )' She read the information on it. The phoenix's fire is a bright red and golden flame, capable of destroying and creating, killing and healing, representing the cycle of existence: birth, death, and rebirth. The flame symbolized life.
'( The color didn't match, but the else... )'
'( Phoenix fire...)' as she read his words, she heard a soft crackling of flame calling her

Landon was in the hospital, in one of the rooms, with an elderly man who had failing lungs, something Landon had healed, though with difficulty. Diseases with failing organs were the only ones that could cure for now. not having the heart to knock out this weakened old man, the longest part was waiting for him to fall asleep.
'( Phew... )' sighed the boy, lefting the room.
'( That one wasn't easy. )' Landon continued down the hallway, changing direction and stopping briefly before resuming his walk.
The boy walked as if everything was fine, with no change in his expression.
'( Another one... )' Landon thought.
Since he had passed through the hospital entrance, he had felt uneasy, like a gaze, but not exactly—someone had their attention on him, throughout the entire hospital. His Haki had repeatedly tried to detect the source but no result.
Landon had since acted as though he didn't know he was being watched. Whatever was going on and whoever was behind it, he let them believe they still had the advantage of surprise.
'( Hmmm I only feel their gaze inside the hospital. It's possible it's something supernatural, like someone with clairvoyant abilities or a magic crystal ball, but I feel it's not exactly that... )' Landon thought.
He had been almost constantly watched since entering, almost. There were a few places, a short zone between two corridors, for example, or a corner, where he no longer felt observed, leading him to conclude:
'( Surveillance cameras... )' But Landon was a bit surprised. He suspected there were cameras. He had thought of destroying them but decided not to, not wanting to deprive the hospital of its minimal security and protective measures... and the Barrow case had proven him right.
'( But generally, there's hardly anyone at the monitoring station... why now, and why me? )' he thought. It made sense that with sudden recoveries and unexplained miraculous healings, the hospital would start drawing attention.
'( But it's too early, far too early, this shouldn't happen for months... )' thought the boy, his green-gray eyes reflecting his confusion.
'( Oh well, whatever... )' Landon continued doing what he did every day, and if someone became too curious about him, they'd unknowingly enter Landon's line of sight too.
The morning passed like this, healing new patients who couldn't recover on their own, while avoiding the attention of those around him, all the while pretending to ignore the gaze from the cameras he felt on him.
He left the hospital around noon, heading to a nearby restaurant for lunch.
'( As expected. )' thought Landon, the moment he left the hospital, he no longer felt the constant gaze on him.
'( Let's see what happens next... )' Landon headed toward the restaurant, a small smile on his lips.
***************************************
Night had fallen over Beacon Hills. Landon was still at the hospital, sitting at reception, silently observing his surroundings.
He had healed all the critically injured patients he had found, but only the wounded ones...
For all the fatal injuries, he only fixed ther injury, leaving them weak and slightly hurt. and for the few injuries that would end with a lifelong disability: missing limbs, paralysis, a sense that is affected like blindness or deafness, he healed them completely. But these were rather rare things out of the ten patients he took care of today only one was in this case, a leg injury that would have pushed him to walk with crutches all his life.
Landon in this way hoped not to attract too much attention, with cases of too sudden healing, The hospital will notice there were some strange case of patients who were perfectly better but overall it was rather rare, but it is true that the mortality rate of the hospital was nearby had drastically decreased since his arrival.
The only patients who died were in periods when they were not in the hospital, or when the patient was already in the operating room, unable to intervene in front of everyone like.
'(Too bad, but I won't be the miraculous Flaming Savior)' Landon thought
'(I only would save people for the pleasure of helping my neighbor, bringing a little joy to the unfortunate people who cross my path...)' Landon had decided that pity, and the selfish pleasure of feeling alive and useful, would push him down the path he had taken.
'( But this is in no way a heavenly duty, a mission that has been instilled in me, a destiny that I must accomplish )' Landon had promised to himself...
'( A great power comes great responsability ? F*ck you Uncle Ben, Clark Kent, Master Oogway... )' Landon had decided his powers were a gift, maybe even a act of pity from existence that sent him here, But what he know, it was all he had, Marco's legacy was literally the only mental anchor that he had.
His abilities will not be a power with a price to pay, a tribute that he owes to the world or to humanity...
His phoenix body, his haki, his flames will not be his chains, Ladonn vowed, for his own well-being, He had promised himself...
'( But If i will spend most of my tome here, A job will help me well.)'
Landon had been looking for a way to get hired at the hospital as a janitor or nurse. He could simply go to a manager and talk to them, but he wasn't sure how to be 100% hired, and he needed to be certain he got the job.
'(I can't take no for an answer. The best way would be to have a recommendation or some help from the inside)' thought the boy.
'( Or maybe, a plan or trick that would ensure the position is mine... )' Landon had already noticed there was a team of 5-6 people responsible for maintenance.
'( If the team is full, I'll have to find a way to make a spot open up and then get the job, but also have flexible hours, working both night and day shifts. Not easy... )' Landon was thinking about how he could go about it.
'( Maybe the hero move? One of the managers encounters a slight danger or an unexpected situation on their way home, and I step in to save them... )' Landon honestly wasn't sure if this idea was brilliant or terrible.
'( I could maybe use force in the worst-case scenario, but intelligently... )' Landon thought about grabbing one of the managers and showing them his powers, making them believe he was a fire demon who could burn them alive.
'( He promess to burn them alive unless they hire me as a janitor at the hospital... )' The boy grimaced slightly.
'(That would probably be a weird threat. )' Landon sighed and dismissed the thought.
'( I'm really starting to get tired of hiding... )'
Landon slouched in his chair, mentally drained.
'(What am I doing here...?)' he thought, The boy formed his own opinion about his powers and their use, but otherwise he was like a baby turtle lost at sea
'( In a new world with powers I was given, why me...? )' Landon wondered. He hadn't asked for anything, If he did he has no memory of it...
And now he found himself here, with his real identity stripped away.
They had taken his identities, his personal life. The only names he knew were Marco, the source of his powers, and Landon Kirby, the name of this body that didn't belong to him.
He didn't know his real name, his first one, the true one that belonged to him. The truth was, he didn't know who he was...
'( Just what i am doing here...? )' Without knowing why, they had taken him and brought him here, leaving him with a fake name, fake identity.
Landon wasn't just only alone; he was lost...
An ambulance arrived, the sound of the sirens pulling him out of his thoughts.
'( Maybe work awaits me... )' he thought, hoping it did, not wanting to fall back into his thoughts.
By chance or misfortune, the person who had come in had a serious enough injury. He sensed through his Haki that some organs were cut and ribs were broken.
'( Strange, it seems like he was stabbed with a large blade... )' Landon wondered if someone had actually attacked the injured man with a sword...
"Rafael, it's going to be okay, stay with me." A brunette woman followed closely behind. Landon recognized her as the nurse he had operated with in the elevator, who he later discovered was the mother of a teenage werewolf...
Landon sensed the injury was serious, but with urgent care, he could recover without a problem. His attention was elsewhere, though, more interested in someone rather, in someone.
Behind Melissa, her son Scott followed. Both of them accompanied Rafael to the elevator.
"Mom, how's it looking?" Scott asked, looking at the injured man, bloodied on the stretcher...
His father, who had decided to come back into his life, had been hurt because of him, and he felt worry and guilt...
"He hasn't lost too much blood. He's going to make it..." said the mother. There was a bit of something in her eyes, but she didn't let herself panic.
Scott let out the breath he had been holding.
"Scott, what were those things..." his mother began. Scott looked around and led her to a secluded corner of the hallway.
He looked around again and saw no one paying attention to them, unaware that the boy in the hoodie leaning against the wall ten meter from them with his head lowered, standing relaxed with arms and feet crossed, was listening to them.
"Mom, the shadowy ninja things you saw are called Onis. They're not human but made of black smoke, and they can emerge from the shadows anywhere. We think they only appear at night..." Scott explained softly.
"Shadow ninjas? Really...? Whatever... why not at this point. Do you know what they want?" Melissa asked, beginning to believe this town was becoming crazier with each passing day.
"They're looking for something among the supernatural beings of Beacon Hills, or rather someone who might be possessed by some sort of evil spirit: the Nogitsune," the boy explained.
"A demon spirit that possesses people?" Melissa quietly repeated to herself.
After a few seconds, she looked at her son.
"Scott..." she said softly, her eyes almost pleading.
"Mum, don't worry, we'll be careful..." Scott looked at his mother, placing his arms on her shoulders, speaking softly, trying to reassure her.
"Scott, stay out of this, let Derek handle it, or the Argents..." Melissa said to her son, almost pleading.
"Mum, Derek is no longer an alpha... and Chris is no longer a hunter..., on my side, I have Stiles, Lydia, Allison, Isaac, and the twins..." the boy argued, but he quickly realized that none of his words had any convincing or reassuring effect on his mother.
"Mum..." Scott began seriously.
"I can't just stand by and do nothing, people will get hurt or killed... if it's not me, who else will do it..."
Melissa looked at her son and realized that he was now a man...
Everything he had gone through lately, all the conflicts and trials in which he had eventually come out victorious...
Melissa looked at her son, knowing full well that he was going to be right in the middle of the conflict, at the heart of the danger...
"Just be careful..." Melissa finally said.
"Don't worry, mum..., I'm a true alpha and I'm not alone..."
Scott left his words, kissed his mother on the forehead, and headed for the elevator.
'( Hmmm, Onis, and an evil spirit possessing people... )' Landon was still in the same spot, arms crossed, back against the wall, lost in thought, meditating on the revelations he had just heard.
'( I see now, it wasn't after me... )' Landon thought that the person or people watching him behind the cameras were probably the same ones whose consciousness had appeared in one of the Onis before they vanished.
'( But that's probably not the case... )' Landon came to this conclusion; the one who was interested in him likely had nothing to do with those Onis. He thought for a moment before shaking his head.
'( No matter, I'll be ready for any surprises. )' Landon moved on.
'( But still, that boy: Scott, is really something... )' Among all the revelations, what interested him the most was the boy's behavior—selfless and noble, traits that are rare.
'( If we were in the world of One Piece, Marco would have loved him and invited him into Whitebeard's crew... )' The boy smiled at the thought.
'( Even though he seems naive, he's not gullible or inexperienced... )' Through his Haki, Scott exuded a mature aura, a strong confidence in his beliefs and determination.
'( What a particular boy... )'
Landon decided it was time to leave, he left the hospital and headed home.
---------------------------------------------------------
At the same time, a young boy was lying on a bed, his closed eyes trembling for a few seconds before opening, waking up from his sleep.
Stiles took a few seconds and looked around, remembering that he was in one of the hospital rooms.
"Hmpfhh..." he took a breath and got out of bed, put on his shoes, and left the room.
Stiles closed the door behind him and looked down the hallway, which was being used by a few patients and nurses.
"Melissa" the boy called out, but she wasn't there.
Stiles decided to go look for her, he was feeling better now and wanted to go home.
'( She was right, all I needed was sleep. )' the boy thought with some relief, as he had feared his condition was due to something else...
Stiles started walking through the hospital corridors.
'( She's probably at reception... )' he concluded as he headed there, knowing he needed to talk to her before leaving.
He walked, shielding his eyes; the lights were bright, and the surrounding noise was loud, his senses were being assaulted.
"Fouhh..." Stiles stopped and closed his eyelids, taking a deep breath to calm himself, repeating the exercise for a minute.
He opened his eyes and looked at his hands, which were still trembling. He looked at his reflection in the window beside him and saw his pale face and the dark circles under his eyes.
'( I'm feeling a bit better… )' he still felt irritable, though less than before.
'( I should go back to the hospital room. )' he thought, it had been 2-3 weeks since Stiles had slept so well.
'( What's the point of going home... )' He didn't want to return home only to suffer from insomnia again most of the time, and for the rare times he managed to sleep, he would be greeted by unpleasant nightmares that were hard to shake off, not to mention the anxiety attacks that could hit him at any hour, day or night, and the constant feeling of urgency, the sense that something terrible was about to happen...
Stiles hadn't been living the most pleasant part of his life for several weeks now, and today he finally had some respite, he wanted to stay as far from home as he could for now.
He made up his mind, turned around, and returned to his room.
Clearing his mind and focusing only on his breathing, letting his steps guide him.
"Fouh..." he exhaled.
"Ouhh..." and inhaled.
Little by little, he forgot about the environment around him and focused solely on his breathing, the minutes passed, and he felt relaxed, calm.
He no longer heard the disturbing noises around him or the blinding light...
the minutes passed like this, before he realized
'( Hmmm, it really is peaceful. )' Stiles came out of his thoughts and looked around him; he was in a large, dark room, with some stretchers and other tools around. It was one of the hospital's storage rooms, located in a secluded corner of the hallway.
"But what..., how did I get here?" the boy murmured, looking around.
He took a few steps back and turned toward the door, but stopped in his tracks.
In front of him, a masked ninja stood with his head lowered, black mist escaping from him. He lifted his head, and Stiles saw a mesmerizing yellow-green light emanating from the two holes in the mask.
A metallic wing-like sound rang to his right, and he turned to see another being on his right, and another on his left.
Without saying a word or wasting a moment, the two creatures at its ends advanced, and grabbed him by the shoulders, immobilizing him.
"No, Hel..." Stiles began, but the Oni in front of him stepped forward, placing his hand on his cheek, holding his face as he gazed into the boy's eyes.
Any words Stiles wanted to say were stifled.
The Oni was about to inspect Stiles' mind.
But the Oni stopped dead in his tracks before even starting. He looked down at his chest, where an arm had pierced through him. He looked at the source and saw that the arm belonged to the frail young boy in front of him, whose eyes held nothing but calm indifference.
He withdrew his arm, opening the palm of his hand to reveal a brilliantly glowing yellow-green insect. "Stiles" looked at it for a few seconds before simply closing his hand, crushing it.
"Stiles" turned toward the two beings behind him...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott walked through the corridors until he found Stiles in the storage room. He entered the room and saw his friend alone, standing still with his back turned.
"Stiles, man, everything okay?" the boy asked his best friend.
Stiles stood there, motionless.
He calmly straightened up, turned around, and...
"Yeah..." the boy said peacefully.
He was a little confused about how he'd ended up there, but he didn't pay much attention to it. At the moment, he felt good, relaxed, in control.
He walked over to his friend and patted him on the shoulder with a smile.
"So, what's new?" Stiles asked as they both left the room together.
Scott started telling him everything that had happened over the last two days.
Neither of them noticed the few small insect wings glowing on the floor, shining for a moment before finally fading away in a black smoke...
A young man with curly black hair stood crouched in front of a stream, gazing at his reflection, while he was surrounded by trees and stones.
Landon was deep in the woods, in a fairly remote area.
The boy had been observing his reflection for a few minutes, lost in his own green eyes who staring back at him.
"Hmpfff," the boy finally stood up, sighing, and Landon looked to the right and left sides of the stream.
Observing which side the stream was growing wider, he started following the left side of the stream, walking for a few minutes.
Landon stopped when the thin trickle of water became a substantial flow.
'( 3 meters long and about 60 cm deep. )' Landon assessed the river in front of him.
'( This is perfect, I won't be completely submerged in the water. )' Landon thought to himself.
He took off his pants and stepped into the river, the cool water touching his leg. Landon wanted to check if he, too, was affected by the weakness that all Devil Fruit users experience.
It is known that the more a Devil Fruit user is submerged in water, the weaker they become, and it only takes a small part of their body being submerged for them to lose their Devil Fruit powers.
If half of the body is submerged in water, the person becomes completely powerless and paralyzed.
Landon had less than half of his body in the water, but still enough to weaken any Devil Fruit user, reducing their strength to about 1/10th of normal.
Landon stood there in the water, and felt no weakness, only a void, an absence.
He raised his arm, stretched out his palm, and focused his will. No flames appeared, not even a blue spark. Nothing...
'( Hmmm. )' Landon pondered the situation. He felt no weakness, physically as strong as usual.
Landon snapped out of his thoughts and tried something else. This time, he concentrated his will, and his forearm became covered in a black layer.
'( My Haki hasn't changed at all... )' the boy concluded.
He thought about what he knew exactly regarding seawater's weakness. He recalled something important.
'( Seawater, even in the smallest quantity, stops a Devil Fruit user from using their abilities. But when a Devil Fruit alters the user's physique or DNA, seawater doesn't affect that aspect... )' Landon reflected.
Luffy had once drowned in the sea, but even underwater, the boy remained elastic.
Landon looked around and picked up a sharp-pointed stone, about the size of his palm. He tested its edge and found it quite sharp.
Gripping the stone like a blade, he plunged his hand into the water and slashed his leg.
Landon ignored the slight pain and observed the shallow cut, about ten centimeters long.
A few drops of blood trickled from the wound, but a faint blue-gold flame appeared on the injury, seemingly able to burn without being affected by the water. The wound healed in just one second, as good as new.
'( It seems that even underwater, I'm pseudo-immortal... )' The boy smiled at this thought.
Landon considered himself pseudo-immortal because he wasn't truly sure if he could rise from the dead, reborn from ashes like a phoenix. Marco had never died, so he didn't know what lay beyond.
But what he did know for sure was that before Marco, there had been several users of the Phoenix fruit, and they had indeed without a doubt died...
Still, he felt more confident on himself, even arrogant.
'( Who can stop me now... )' Landon felt a thrill at this newfound freedom.
He closed his eyes and savored the moment of euphoria.
He relaxed and stayed there for a minute, before reopening his eyes, calmed after the wave of emotion. Yet, in his eyes, there was no joy.
'( The reality is that to be free, you must first be someone... )'
This young boy was merely a man whose individuality had been stripped away. He had been given powers and memories from another world and a hollow body with a new name as a façade.
Landon lowered his head and looked at his reflection in the river where he was still standing.
He studied his pronounced face, his gray-green eyes, his unruly strands of hair, and came to the same conclusion he always did when he looked at himself in the mirror, that what he saw might not even be real.
He stared at his reflection a little longer before stepping out of the river and going hunting.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hmmm, not bad, as usual, quality stuff. So, there are 3 rab..." Angus was talking, listing the hunting spoils, but Landon wasn't even listening.
The boy's thoughts had been in turmoil since he entered the butcher shop.
For the sole reason that, the moment he walked through the door, he felt a gaze on him, the same gaze he had constantly felt at the hospital for the past four days.
Landon once again pretended to ignore it, his Haki sensing the origin of the gaze, from the upper right corner of the wall in front of him. He knew Angus didn't have any cameras; it would backfire in his somewhat illegal dealings...
Moreover, it was a nearly invisible camera to the naked eye, completely camouflaged and hidden...
'( He or they have tracked me here... )'
"Hey kid, are you listening to me?" Landon snapped back to reality at the butcher's words.
"Yes, you were saying, Angus..." Landon replied.
Angus looked at him and summarized what he had said.
"8 squirrels, 6 rabbits, 7 hares, and 2 pheasants. You've outdone yourself this time. It's probably your biggest hunt. They're all top quality. That makes a total of about $460. I don't have all the cash on me right now..." Angus said, handing him $250.
"Come back tomorrow," he told him.
Landon was still lost in thought but responded, "Thanks, Angus." He smiled at him and said goodbye.
And the moment he left the shop, he no longer felt the gaze on him.
'( They're stepping up their game... )' the boy thought.
He had quickly realized that those watching him weren't from the hospital. On the first day he felt watched, he passed by the hospital's control room, where the cameras were, just close enough to sense the area with his Haki.
He saw only Hall, the security guard, on the verge of falling out of his chair, drooling as he snored.
Whoever was watching him had nothing to do with the hospital. Landon concluded that he or they had skillfully hacked into the hospital's security system...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'( So pathogens: bacteria and viruses, as well as gene mutations and genetic factors, are the three main causes of diseases... )' Landon had just finished reading the book explaining the basics of pathology.
The boy leaned back in a chair at the reception desk, holding the book he was currently reading. He had healed a few people and was now waiting for any emergency cases.
'( For infectious diseases, medicine or vaccines suffice, but for the more serious syndromes, more extreme therapies must be taken... )' Landon concluded to himself.
'( Hmmm, my flames easily burn bacteria, viruses, or even parasites, regardless of the tenacity or danger of the pathogen... )' Behind the boy's green eyes, it was clear he was deep in thought.
'( Where my flames are less effective is in healing and recreating genes... )' The boy knew better than anyone what his flames could do.
'( But as of now, my flames can easily cure all diseases caused by pathogens... )' Landon realized.
Tuberculosis, cholera, hepatitis B and C, syphilis, the Ebola virus... He had just learned from the book, they were all diseases caused by pathogens...
Landon straightened up in his chair, his mind racing with this new perspective...
'( I can eliminate the virus and bacteria without a problem, but removing the cause of the disease won't cure it. It will just eliminate its infectious nature, and the risk of an outbreak will no longer exist. )'
Landon's mind was weighing what he knew against what he could actually do.
'( But the damage will still be there. I could only easily heal the damage if the cells haven't undergone mutations... )' If the cells were injured, damaged, or otherwise compromised, it was no problem to heal them. But if the cells had mutated, he still couldn't do much.
His flames either: healed the cells in the case of damage, which was a relatively simple and quick process, or destroyed and recreated the cell in the case of a mutation. The latter option was much more demanding and complicated: recreating the cell without the mutation wasn't easy, and then the hardest part followed, protecting the newly created cell from other mutated ones, allocating energy to preserve it.
It required an enormous amount of stamina and energy, especially since the process had to be repeated for each individual cell.
'( Hmmm... what would be perfect is if my Observation Haki could see cells... )' His Haki could only perceive the aura and emotions emitted by the patient's body, certain parts of their anatomy, and briefly where the illness was and what it was doing, where the injuries were and what damage had been done...
His Haki certainly didn't have microscopic perception, and Landon was well aware of this limitation.
The best observation haki practitioners are far from mastering this domain.
'( Haki microscopic, it's on the verge of impossible, maybe even simply unreachable… )'
Landon sighed, his observation haki covered 26 meters around him, knowing that he had only been in this world for 3 weeks and had gone from non-practitioner to this result, it was one of the fastest growths, even in the world of One Piece.
Marco's legacy had helped him; in a way, he had experienced haki through someone else, and it's not just that, he was aware of something: his limit was far below that of the people from Marco's world.
The big players in the Pirate world had observation haki that could encompass an island, around 2-3 kilometers of haki perimeter.
Landon felt that his limit was around 100-200 meters, no more. It was thanks to Marco's memories that he had come this far in his haki, but never, ever would he be able to match him.
And that was fine by him. This world, though intriguing and mysterious, was after all much less dangerous than the one where Marco lived…
"Hmpfff…" Landon sighed on his seat.
He looked around him and saw that the place was quiet and sparsely populated, it was quite a peaceful day.
Landon decided to check his discovery now, so he stood up and headed to the elevator. He entered, and when he wanted to press a floor button, he didn't know where to go.
'( Where are the infectious disease patients kept…? )' Landon took a few seconds to think and decided to go to the 3rd floor, the maternity ward; there were usually few nurses, and the computers were left open in the offices or at the reception.
He arrived on the floor and saw the sign on the wall opposite the door: '3rd Floor: Maternity and Obstetrics / Pediatrics.'
He walked for a bit and found what he was looking for after 5 minutes, a room with an office and the door slightly open.
'( Where's the nurse? )' Landon extended his haki to the maximum and saw she was in the bathroom, in one of the toilets. He sensed combativeness and an exhausting effort emanating from the nurse.
'( Big business… )'
Landon entered the room and went to the PC. He pulled up the patient files and saw a small button at the top of the list that allowed sorting by pathology. He clicked on it and began scrolling.
He saw the names, photos, and conditions of each patient appear, reading them one by one until, 30 seconds later, he found what he was looking for: Elisa Yang, 20 years old, syphilis.
'( Ouhhh, bad luck, I hope at least she had fun… )' Landon smiled as he closed the window on the computer and left the room.
The poor nurse was still struggling with her digestive system in the bathroom.
'( I could have stayed an hour; I doubt she would have finished before me… )'
Landon then went to the east wing of the second floor where the patient was, tucked away in a separated corner.
She was in the tertiary stage of the disease, the stage where organs and tissues start getting damaged.
He quickly arrived in front of her door and sensed with his haki that she was awake, lying on her bed, watching TV.
Landon took a small coin from his pocket and opened the door slightly, just enough for his hand to pass through.
Naturally, Elisa didn't notice anything, and a few seconds later, as she was watching an episode of Looney Tunes, she heard the sound of a metallic object falling on the floor to her right.
Elisa turned toward the sound and sat up to get a better look, staring at the spot where she had heard something fall.
'( Hmmm, probably a… )' Elisa didn't finish her thought before she collapsed onto her bed, unconscious, as a young boy suddenly appeared right next to her.
Landon didn't need to place a cloth over the door since there was no window. He could start right away, his palm lighting up with azure blue flames with golden spots.
He placed his hand on the belly of the pretty young girl.
'( Though being pretty is probably what got her here… )' thought Landon.
And he began the healing process, focusing most of his attention on the anatomy of the patient and a little on his haki to check behind the door.
He immediately sensed a difference with all the people he had healed up to this point, there was something foreign in the girl's body, a sort of parasite.
He could feel his fire suddenly have a furious urge to burn, to purify the young girl.
He let the flames do their work by themselves; the purification process had begun. Wherever the flames burned, his haki sensed a kind of foul thing sizzling and evaporating into ashes.
The cells affected by the parasite were healed by his fire while burning the bacteria.
The boy with gray-green eyes decided to intensify the process. He removed his right hand from the girl's body, raising the palm about ten centimeters above her.
He brought his other hand close and unleashed a torrent of blue and gold over Elisa's body, even over the bed and the furniture nearby.
He felt the same purification sensation, but a hundred times stronger, as if he were decontaminating the girl's body from all foreign matter.
His haki sensed the sizzling and evaporation of a thin gray smoke coming out of Elisa's pores.
And within seconds, no parasites remained after the passage of his flames. Then came the second stage. Fortunately, syphilis doesn't mutate cells but gravely damages them, with tissues and internal organs not spared in the late stages of the affliction.
'( Her liver, her lungs, her spleen were starting to be affected… )' Landon realized, reducing the number of flames. For this part, power or quantity wouldn't help and could even slow down the process. Here, softer flames of better quality were necessary.
'( But it's not any less tiring… )' The torrent of blue and gold became a gentle, calm flow, and each flame was worth consumption of several in normal times.
Her spleen, the tissues around it, the entire damaged organ was enveloped by his blue-gold fire, healing the damage like a gentle embrace. After a minute of this gentle caress, the fire slowly died out within seconds, leaving behind fully restored organs.
'( That was pretty easy… )' Landon smiled. It was a victory.
'( Hmmm )' he snapped out of his thoughts when he felt a small part of the flames not extinguishing but moving elsewhere on her body. He looked and saw the girl's arm covered by a long sleeve.
He took her arm, pulled the sleeve back, and saw several cuts and scars on her arm, all recent, no far away than 2 weeks old, and one just a few days.
Landon stood still, staring at the girl's scarred arm, disfigured by her own hand…
He turned to the TV, which was showing an old episode of Looney Tunes.
'( Hmmm )' He recalled what his haki had sensed before he knocked the girl out, she had been watching TV, radiating particular emotions…
'( nostalgia, sadness… )'
Landon lowered his eyes to the girl's arm. He extended his hand and released his flame, which burned her skin for a few seconds before disappear, leaving behind a smooth, flawless arm.
Landon hesitated a bit before deciding to pull out a pen from his pocket.
He left the room a minute later.
'( Anyway, it's a success. )' Landon smiled broadly.
