章節 2: Elicia (part 1)

Ch. I - Elicia (Elice)

-----

It was a beautiful morning.

The sounds of birds chirping on the tree outside the window, the very window that allows the sunlight to enter. The white trays waving around due to the cold morning breeze, and the white light that the glass from the window let through reflecting on the floor.

It was such a calming morning.

The birds chirp so beautifully, and the sunlight that is entering through the window is also creating a rather peaceful feeling.

The more the birds sang, the better the morning became.

What a lovely morning…

That thought crossed my mind as I slowly turned my gaze away from the window towards the door. As I guessed, the door was knocked not long after.

"Your highness, breakfast is ready."

After knocking the door, the person on the outside said that line. Only, that line, because not long after she said that, she left.

As her footsteps gradually left my ears, I turned my gaze back to the window. My body found energy, and I stood up from my bed to have a little walk.

I arrived in front of the window, and I stared at myself for quite a while.

Standing at the other side of the mirror dimension is a rather beautiful young lady. Her hair is black and braided on the sides to the back very beautifully. Her skin is rather bright, due to the fact that she doesn't like to go out often. Her white dress matches her bright skin, even though the dress was actually a pajama instead of an actual casual dress.

Her ears are sharp and long due to her nature. And finally, the pair of blood red eyes being slanted from overly grinning at herself in front of the window.

As I stared at myself in the window, another thought came to my mind…

I look bloody hot today.

Earlier, I spent ten whole minutes just wasting my time braiding my hair. It was such an annoying process, but I had fun doing it.

And the only reason I had fun doing it, is because my mood is so damn good today.

Why?

The answer will come once I arrive at the dining table.

What's at the dining table, one may ask?

Well… not sure. There is only one way to find out.

I lifted my hands and smacked them on my cheeks. I grinned even wider as I regretted hurting my face for no reason.

All right! Let's go greet everyone.

.

I dressed up rather nicely for the morning. I changed from my overly high quality pajamas into a better casual dress that is actually my pajamas from last week.

Any dress is a pajama if you are daring enough.

I once again checked myself in the mirror if I look good enough. And once I thought I'm ready, I exited my bedroom.

As expected, there is no one.

As I walked through the halls of the royal palace, I didn't see anybody. The damn royal palace, where there's over twenty butlers and maids combined, as well as seven chefs ready to serve our royal family to the best of their abilities.

On any day, you would see them roaming around doing their own businesses. You would greet them early in the morning as you made your way towards the dining room for breakfast, and they would smile back at you and greet you back.

But… not today.

Why? What is so special about today?

As I began to arrive in the dining room, I immediately noticed something.

… I was right!

What's so special about today? Well, it's simple.

I walked around the corner, and finally saw the scene in the dining room.

Immediately, things turned loud.

"""Happy birthday, Princess Elicia!!"""

Everyone… is here.

My family. Mom, dad, my 2 dumb younger brothers, the maids and butlers, and the chefs. Everyone here is my family, and everyone is here because of me.

My 17th birthday.

"You guys…"

I said with a grin, and a single person is already arriving in front of me. In her hands is a rather small green gift box, and she lifted it up to give it to me.

"Happy birthday, darling."

Oh mother… you are always looking so old.

Her age wasn't even fifty yet, but the smile on her face is already like saying that she is over seventy or something. She is just that soft and nice, and I love her so much for that.

Everything about her is the same as mine. She is basically what I am, but over forty years of age. Long black hair, red eyes… or rather, everything about me is simply her from a young age.

But, she is a tad shorter than me. I'm so proud of that, for some reason.

"Thank you, mother."

I took the small green gift box from her hands, and I stared at it for a while.

"Open it later, honey. Let's have some fun, first."

She said as she grabbed my hand, and she pulled me towards the dining table, where everyone else was waiting me. As we arrived, I turned my face to everyone who was standing around the table. They are all smiling, and none of them are looking annoyed.

They are all… genuinely happy.

"Thank you… everyone. Even though it's still rather early, it's gotten so loud already…"

I said to them, and one specific man had to make it even louder.

"Bhahaha!! Well, don't worry. It's going to get even louder at noon, honey!"

My dad. The current king.

He is a jokester and a prankster. He is annoying, to the point that if I had super powers, I would be using them to kill him instead of becoming a superhero.

But, he is… wonderful at his job.

The only thing that sucks about him is his humor. His looks, his knowledge, his abilities, all top notch.

He has rather long silver hair, very different to what I have. His ears are much longer than what my mother and I have, possibly because of the genes. The only thing that was on me that came from him is… possibly my genius mind.

And my sarcasm.

"Let me guess… you invited some 'wonderful' people?"

"Hell yeah, girl!! Don't worry, though. I only invited the ones I truly believed and liked, so you won't see any random unfamiliar faces."

"Is that so…? For some reason, I feel like Not Meeting Anyone is much better than Not seeing a random unfamiliar face."

"Honey! What's wrong with you? You are finally seventeen, the age of-"

"Dad. Be very… very careful with your next words."

I said rather coldly to the old man, and he immediately burst into laughter. Everyone around us who were listening simply facepalmed to our conversation, and I am not quite sure whether they are disappointed at me or at this annoying guy.

Seventeen years old. The peak of youth and… well, romance.

The age of seventeen is the moment of a person's life when they feel the peak of their best youth. The feeling of freedom, the feeling of love. That is the age of seventeen.

For a princess, that age is very important as well. It is the time when the princess began to look for a potential partner, a possibility for a future marriage husband.

But for a crown princess, it was even more than that.

Which is… what I am.

I am the oldest heir of the royal family, the crown princess of a kingdom. That fact simply implies that whoever becomes my husband, will become the king.

It was very important for me to start looking from now, especially when I am finally at the perfect age for romance.

And yet…

"No. None of those crap. Not now."

I said coldly once again, and Dad finally let out a long sigh.

"Honey… please understand your position. Who you are… what place you are currently at--"

"Has nothing to do with my future. I decide my own future, Dad. I will find my own partner through my own ways. Not from… a gathering of a bunch of boot-lickers."

I said that without thinking. And obviously, if you say something without putting much thought into it, there is certainly going to be some things messed up.

For example, my mother's feelings.

"Yikes… being so cold on your birthday."

She suddenly said, and I turned my panicked gaze to her immediately.

I-I forgot she is from a noble family!!!

My mother is not the bearer of the royal blood. My father is. She married into the royal family as the queen, and she came from one of the noble families in the kingdom.

The very families I just called 'boot-lickers'.

"S-Sorry!! I said that without thinking…"

My mother let out a long annoyed sigh, and she began walking closer to me. She wrapped her hands around my face and placed me in her chest, which is very comfortable since her breasts are rather big.

"I acknowledge… that the time will come for you to choose your own partner. And I acknowledge that you have the ability to find the best one. It's fine if you don't listen to your father, but at least listen to me, okay?

Go see the people first. You can decide later on, but you still have to at least meet them first. Okay?"

She just… forcibly hugged me, gave me a lot of words to process, and ended both her lines with a very soft 'Okay?'.

If I'm still ten years old, I'll be tearing up and hugging her tighter. But I'm seventeen now. I'm a big girl.

I let go of her hug, and I nodded firmly at her.

"For you… I'll go meet them. For you only, though…"

I turned a sharp glare at the bearded old man, and he simply chuckled loudly.

"I heard the son of Viscount Bregs is rather handsome and strong. Don't regret not meeting them, yeah??"

My dad said as he turned around and left the dining room while waving his hand in the air. I shook my head as he left, and I turned my gaze to the table.

I forgot this is breakfast time.

My stomach felt so hungry, and all that talk made me forget about it. Now that it is all over, I felt the side effects very-very deeply.

The hunger was painful, and so I announced loudly to everyone waiting for me in the room.

"I wish to eat!!"
