章節 3: Ignorance 2
I slowly came back to my senses, registering the lingering pain and soreness of my muscles and bones. My eyes slowly flutter open and I found myself in another patient's bed. I turn my head on the sides to look around and saw Claid in a separate bed just a few feet away from mine and other kids on the other side who's passed out and clearly exhausted. I can hear the screams of another kid not so far from here and I'm suspecting that they are doing the same thing on each of us.
I glance briefly where the screams were coming from but I cannot take in the sight of the kid jerking her tensed body as she screams out of pain. I immediately look away now facing Claid who has his eyes widen with the obvious fear and trauma. I can feel my heart picking up pace as I listen to the screams and I can't bring my hands to cover my ears since they were chained on the bed and as well as my legs.
Soon, the screaming stops and one scientist take her to the row of beds I was also in. I curiously glance to see who the kid was and noticed it was Sivnia who is now exhaustedly passed out as well.
I feel a pang of worry for her and I try to prop myself on my elbows to get a better look to where the scientist layed her but my body was so weary and aching I stumble back on the bed. My eyes starts to welled up with tears from the pain I'm experiencing and I just want to cry it out for anyone to hear and let them know of my suffering. Despite the stoic and neutrality of his eyes, I wish that Dr. Merin was here to hear me and know that I'm crying, and in pain. He's the only scientist among the others that I know who would treat my injuries and help me heal after all of this torture even when he cause the injury on me himself.
Each of us children, has a scientist who will make sure to get us back in shape after all of this things they have been doing to us and Dr. Merin was assigned for me.
I sniff as my tears roll down on both of my temples and trying to suppress my sobs. I want Dr. Merin right now. I wish he'll come here from his lab office. Or atleast I'll stay beside Sivnia and watch over her if I'm not chained in this bed. I feel so lonely and it scares me.
A moment later when they finally done what they were doing with the last kid, the scientists came over to us who are now awake with tubes that have needles in their hands. I have seen this thing a lot of times and really afraid of it because they keep on pricking the needle in my arm and they take my blood with that needle and tube or when the tube was filled with something and they put it in my arm.
My face twitches and I instinctively pout as Dr. Shyirr was coming closer. Tears filled my eyes in fear as I try keeping my mouth shut to keep myself from sobbing. She notices my expression and she only gave a small smile as she unlock the chain of one of my wrists. She took my hand and raise it to her as she seems to be finding a spot to put that needle in. I really hated that thing and I'm really close to burst out crying as she pushes the needle in my arm. A whimper escapes my lips as the tube sucks my blood. She finally pull it out and put the thing on the table beside my bed. She then takes a cotton ball, dabbing it to something before she put it on the area where the needle once has been then tapes it.
My breath hitches as I try to keep myself shut even though my tears flooded my eyes. I saw Dr. Shyirr reaches out her hand then wipes out my tears. "Don't be afraid now, it's just a syringe. It's not taking your life away."
She pats my head before she took the syringe and walk away. I bring my free hand to my face since the other one was still chained then I wipe my fresh tears. My mucus was rolling down from my nose then I grab my patient's gown and bring it up to wipe it. After a couple of minutes, Dr. Shyirr came back once again. I walk closer to me, slightly leaning down and wipe eyes and nose with tissue.
"Do you want to go to Dr. Merin? The experiment is done for now, darling. You can go." Dr. Shyirr asked then I immediately nod as I sniff.
"I bring you to him, okay? Just to make sure you don't run away again."
I nod and hum in response, "Okay." She straighten herself then turn to unlock the remaining chains on me. She put her hands on my sides then hoisted me up and let me straddle on her waist as she puts a supportive arm under my bum. I rest my chin on her shoulder. She leads the away out of the room as the other children were also taken care of scientists who are assigned for them.
My eyes land on Sivnia who was still asleep in the patient's bed, noticing that no one was coming over to check on her. The sight of her was blocked as Dr. Shyirr exited the room with me in her arms.
"Sivnia..." My little voice came out hoarse as I speak in above whisper. Dr. Shyirr pats my back as she continues to walk out of the H.S. area. "I'll check on her later, don't worry. She's not awake yet and the effects of the experiment in her body haven't subside. She needs to be awake before I can take a blood sample from her so that her blood flow was calmer because she's still exhausted right now."
I didn't understand anything she said but I still listened. Out of curiosity, I ask, "What's an experiment?" I pull away from her shoulder so I could look at her face. She smiles at me.
"Experiment, you ask? It's still early for you to know, darling. But fine, I'll give you a definition."
I look at her intently, waiting for her to continue. "Experiment, darling, is what we scientists usually do. We ought to discover new things, to confirm something, and to determine something." She continues to walk as she explains, her steps were deliberate.
I stared at her and not a single thing of what she said gets into my head. "What's that?" I ask curiously. She chuckles heartily. "Oh, darling... you'll find out soon. You're still young to comprehend."
We reached the door which has a little rectangle on the top part of it. I pointed at what was written inside the triangle. "What does it says?"
Dr. Shyirr's eyes drift towards where I was pointing. She bring one of her hands to point at each of the words written. "Dr.-Merin-C.-Meric" She looks at me.
"It's Dr. Merin?" I ask, my eyes slightly widen in surprise.
"Yes. Can you read it with me?"
I nod. She then looks back at the name and points at each word as she reads it slowly.
"Doctor..."
"Doctor...?"
"Merin..."
"Merin...?"
"C."
"C.?"
"Meric."
"Meric...?"
She nods in approval. "Dr. Merin C. Meric."
"Dr.... Merin.... C. ... Meric..." I followed. She smiles and hum in approval as she pats my head. "You're learning fast"
Dr. Shyirr reach the doorknob and twist it as she pushes it open. Inside I saw Dr. Merin behind a counter far from the door which was filled with tubes, glasses and different shapes of tubes with different colors of water in it.
Dr. Shyirr steps in and walk towards a chair and puts me down there. "Be a good girl." She said before she left.
