"What the hell are you doing!?"
The woman felt a great surge of fear fill her heart as Mark turned around and tossed her and the other superhuman to the ground. Mark made sure that they had lost the monsters that were trailing them, and then he spoke to the two superhumans.
"We've come far enough so it should be easier for you to get out to the helicopter. I'll create a diversion and make the monsters follow me and the both of you get out of here. I can't fight if you're ranting in my ear all through."
The woman immediately felt insulated as she heard him say this and she immediately started to reprimand him.
"Don't talk to your elders like that! You're just a kid!"
"Will you shut up, woman! Just shut up! Look, Vanitas, you should also think about getting out of here. There are too many monsters up here and we don't know how many more there are down in the tunnels. It's too dangerous to try fighting all of them."
There was a writers convection I attended two months ago and I was in awe as I sat and listened to some of the writers talk about ideas they had for books. Some of the writers were planing humongous lores with brilliant stories built on massive character lineups. I felt very out of my depth. I also had stories to share, but nothing on such a massive scale.
But then I heard one guy talk about a cat-girl story where an android cat-magical-girl goes around as a superhero saving children from imaginary monsters and I found myself a kindred spirit.
P.S. Everyone clapped for the catgirl story. Who doesn't love catgirls?
