In the gorgeous castle of the book world, Luffy, Nami, and Kirby followed Alan into the hall, their eyes filled with amazement. It felt as if they were waiting for someone, as if they had entered the palace of a kingdom. The walls were adorned with a beautiful and huge golden clock that stood out, its hour hand swaying with the pendulum, creating a rhythmic "chacha" sound. Antique vases with a sense of history, along with expensive-looking furniture like coffee tables and sofas, decorated the space. The overall decor was extravagant and ornate, yet tasteful.
A giant viewing fish tank, as tall as a building, captured their attention. Inside the tank, there were small sardines, elephant fish, dolphins, seals, tiger sharks, and other large fish, as well as colorful corals and rockeries, creating a dazzling underwater landscape that was both captivating and awe-inspiring.
"Nami, the Universal Magic Book has the ability to fly. You should have taken it out earlier," Nami couldn't help but express her exhaustion at the helm. Steering the ship was physically demanding, especially for a woman.
"Don't say that," Alan nodded in agreement. "The boring journey is also an essential experience in life, and relying too much on convenient abilities like flying can make the adventure lose its fun and passion."
"I agree!" Luffy chimed in, lying down in front of the giant fish tank. He looked at the huge and ferocious tiger shark inside, as if it could burst out and swallow him whole any moment. "But Alan, you're really amazing! It feels like we're in a real world here."
Kirby and Nami couldn't believe their eyes. The ability to create such a world seemed beyond human capabilities.
"It's not entirely a false world," Alan explained, shrugging. "The outer coast, along with this castle and the surrounding land and vegetation, are real. I built them with the Munch-Munch Fruit ability."
In this book world, time appeared to be frozen. Staying here theoretically allowed people to never grow old and offered a form of immortality. However, this stillness was relative, as time continued to flow. People in the book world could feel the passage of time. For instance, when they communicated inside, the clock inside the castle continued to move, synchronizing with the time in the outside world. However, their own life state was not affected to a certain extent. The creatures kept inside the book world didn't age, but if they were injured or suffered severe blood loss, they could still die. The book world provided rest and recovery, but it didn't grant complete invincibility.
Alan had invested a lot of time in setting up his laboratory in the book world, consuming his own life in the process. It allowed for zero time consumption in his research, making it both convenient and limiting at times. Some experiments involving living organisms had to be conducted in the outside world, which led him to establish a large underground secret experimental base on an uninhabited island. However, he had recently destroyed the base as he set out for the Grand Line to seek revenge against the Dragon Pirates and Colonel Mouse from the 16th branch.
The Universal Magic Book was the only space-type Devil Fruit ability he had created so far. While the characteristics of the book world sometimes limited his experimental research, he had no choice but to conduct experiments inside it while drifting at sea. His current goal was to find another space-type Paramecia ability and create a second storage and living space with the same time ratio as the outside world. The Paramecia · Fortress Fruit was the most ideal second space-type ability.
