The rest of the interviews went over with almost no trouble. He recruited almost the entire DA and some more he knew from Hogwarts. The majority of them were Muggleborns or half-bloods. Besides the Greengrasses, there were very few pure-bloods interested in joining the expedition.
At the same time, it was quite troublesome to get a grasp on his new Veela-based abilities, or, to be precise, his allure. Every female he interviewed was at first head over heels for him, affected by the new aura surrounding him, until he finally got some control over his allure. Luckily, he got a better idea about what had happened to all the Magus Symbiotes during Fleur's transformation, thanks to the transformations during the final part of the interview.
If there was a strong enough attraction between him and the girl he was gifting a symbiote to, then she would experience a boost in her genetic adaptation, transforming naturally into a queen. For example, when he finally transformed Lavender with a symbiote into a fully-fledged magus, he thought that her nice big boobs looked very sexy with her dirty blond hair. And then she transformed into a magus queen.
When it happened again with Parvati, then Padma, and then Cho Chang, and finally Susan Bones, he managed to form a theory. He knew the attraction had to be strong enough from both sides, or there had to be at least some form of a longer relationship, maybe both. Because while he thought that Penelope Clearwater, Percy Weasley's former girlfriend, whom he left once he got a position in the ministry and she didn't, looked quite attractive, she didn't transform into a queen.
He also understood how this fit into the genetic makeup of the symbiote, as his own design had supposedly used the full potential of the Goa'uld race. While the Veela genetics had expanded that potential a bit, that expansion had replaced the natural birth chance for new Magus Queens. It had already been such a rare chance; now it was nonexistent. After realizing what had changed within Lavender's Queen Symbiote, Harry confirmed that the same change had happened in all already existing queens. For now, the only chance for a new queen to appear was a strong mutual attraction between Harry and the new host he was implanting, or changing an existing Goa'uld queen.
And from what he could observe, it had to be Harry who implanted the symbiote. He had a strong relationship with the former Chaser Trio of Gryffindor and found all three of them attractive, but they didn't become queens. Because it was most likely Hermione who conducted the interviews.
She decided to take over the job of interviewing all female candidates, as Harry had already had enough new wives in such a short time. And Harry had gladly admitted that she was right. With Parvati, Padma, Lavender, Cho, Susan, Daphne, and Fleur joining the ranks of the Imperial Family, he was now in a relationship with ten different women.
which was good for the expansion of the Magus Race but a bit troublesome for himself. He was just one person, after all; maintaining eight intimate relationships, ruling an empire, and performing his own personal research that he couldn't assign to anyone brought him quite to the limits of his time. Centralizing the power and control of the Magus Race and Empire had benefits but also disadvantages.
It was now clear that not every member of the Empire could become a magus. Harry would have to adjust his original plans and turn the possibility of becoming a Magus into a reward for good work, like he was suggesting to the regular humans from the start. It would mean that he wouldn't have an army of billions of Magi under his control but only an elite force, which he was fine with. Instead, he would have to look for other ways to enhance the power of his people; he already had a few ideas.
Suddenly, the counterpart to the long-range communication device he had given to Mingala activated. "So the Tok'ra have finally decided to contact me?" Harry asked about the device. "Who am I talking to?"
"I am Garshaw of Belote, a member of the Tok'ra High Council, and you are the Goa'uld who wishes to exchange technology with us." asked Garshaw through the communicator. In the background, he could make out busy noises.
"I am even less of a Goa'uld than you are. My symbiote has no will of its own; it only acts on its instincts, enhancing my body. And at this point, they are born this way. But it's an honor to speak with such a highly hunted former Goa'uld," Harry said with a slight smirk. "And yes, I wish to exchange for your knowledge of how to extract a symbiote safely and your intelligence on the current status of the System Lords."
"You ask for quite a lot." Garshaw replied. "We are willing to exchange one of these things."
"And what do you want for that?" Harry asked calmly. He was still unsure whether this was a trap for him.
"As you are undoubtedly already aware, we are infiltrators. We possess very few ships on our own. Right now, the System Lords have sent an armada of ships to our main base. Most of our people are already evacuated, but a few of them are in no condition to move at the moment. If you buy them enough time, we will give you one of these things in exchange," Garshaw offered. "This way, we will also be able to see how honest you are."
"How many ships?" Harry asked directly, already communicating mentally with his people to prepare his five ships.
"The High Council of System Lords has sent ten in the direction of our planet. Do you accept this deal?" Garshaw asked.
Ten is a tall order for his fleet; it's quite possible that he would have to accept some losses. Until now, he employed his powerful cloaking technology and sensors to always have the advantage in any battle. Against a single System Lord, he wouldn't have any trouble taking care of them. But this was a big fleet sent by the whole High Council; they rarely sent such a force. Usually, they are more focused on squabbling with each other than working together. The Tok'ra, on the other hand, have been a threat to them for thousands of years. Their tactics of infiltration and sabotage were very effective.
He could figure out a method to safely remove a symbiote on his own, but getting detailed information on the Goa'uld Empire and their System Lords was a completely different matter. That took quite a bit of time and resources that he simply didn't have right now. They were completely focused on their expedition to Atlantis, already transporting goods, Gate vehicles, and their equipment to the Antarctica base, which they were constantly expanding to fit everything in. As soon as the potentia was ready, they would go to the Pegasus Galaxy.
Once that was finished and they had Atlantis, even then, it would take quite some time to build the necessary infrastructure to get detailed information on the Goa'uld Empire. After all, they could construct better ships then. "I accept. I will send my fleet to cover your people. I want all your information on the status of the Goa'uld Empire, the different System Lords, their domains, and strength in exchange."
