As Crox sat by the fire, he listened to Danel's report with a growing sense of unease. The news that the mage had killed Krimnos was troubling, to say the least. He knew that the Knife-Hand Barbarians were no match for a mage with such power.
Crox rubbed his chin thoughtfully as Danel finished speaking. "I see," he said slowly. "So this mage is not to be underestimated."
Danel nodded nervously. "Yes, sir. He's very powerful. And he's got all these puppets. They're like soldiers, but they're not alive."
Crox scowled. "Puppets? What kind of sorcery is this? I heard about the golems and similar things that mages are using as their helpers, but an army is a thing that I've never heard of."
Danel shrugged helplessly. "I don't know, sir. But they're dangerous. And the mage...he's building some kind of city or townlike place or something. It is not too big at this time, but it improves too fast every day as new buildings arise. I've never seen anything like it."
Crox frowned. "A civilization, you say? That could be a problem. We can't just attack head-on."
Danel nodded. "I know, sir. But what can we do?"
Crox thought for a moment before speaking. "For now, we'll keep watching. We need to learn more about this mage and his puppets. And we need to find a way to take him down without losing too many of our own."
Danel nodded in agreement.
Crox leaned in and looked intently at Danel. "Were you followed?" he asked, his voice low and serious.
Danel shook his head vigorously. "No, no one followed us. We were careful to cover our tracks," he said, his voice still trembling slightly from the fear of being caught by Adrian.
Crox nodded thoughtfully. "Good, good. We can't have Adrian or his puppets finding our outpost. It's crucial that we maintain our secrecy," he said, his tone firm and resolute.
Danel nodded in agreement, relieved that he wasn't being scolded for his failure to bring back more information about Adrian's land.
"So, tell me about this mage," Crox said, his expression darkening. "What did he look like? How did he kill Krimnos?"
Danel took a deep breath and began to recount the events of the previous day, describing Adrian's magical abilities in detail. Crox listened carefully, his brow furrowed in concern.
"This is troubling," he said finally. "We cannot afford to underestimate this mage. He poses a significant threat to our tribe."
Danel nodded in agreement. "He's not like any mage I've ever seen before," he said. "He's powerful, and he's building an army of puppets."
Crox nodded again, deep in thought. "We'll need to be very careful," he said at last. "For now, we'll keep watching his land from a safe distance. But if he becomes too much of a threat, we may need to take action."
After Danel left, Crox massaged his eyebrows and let out a cold breath. He knew that messing with an unknown mage would bring no good results. But he, as the leader of his people, needs to make it right.
He needs to stay still and protect his people and land from any kind of enemy, a mage or not; that is the only thing he can do to continue working on his purpose of taking his revenge from Lord Celcas, the man who killed his wife and children back then, twenty years ago.
