The sun grew brighter, signaling the arrival of morning.
However, the Wildwood forest fell quiet after Veronica and Victor left. As the student council president, Veronica couldn't afford to be late for school.
As for Victor, he decided not to attend school that day to recover from his encounter with the giant cobra. Veronica had said she would write a permission slip for him, so he felt somewhat at ease.
Right now, Victor lounged on the couch, unable to hide his satisfied smile as he read the hologram in front of him.

Victor felt a surge of excitement course through him as he observed his improvements.
"Just one day in the forest, and I'm already so much stronger," he said aloud, his voice filled with pride.
While in the forest, he faced numerous monsters and beasts. Each one he vanquished granted him stat points and new skills. The scent of the damp earth and the sounds of the wild creatures still lingered in his memories.
One skill he found particularly powerful was Claws of the Beast, which increased his hand-to-hand combat damage and improved his grip strength.
Only one excursion into the jungle had yielded him so many benefits. The thought of facing even stronger opponents and stealing their power filled him with anticipation. The exhilarating sensation of his newfound strength coursed through his veins, sending shivers down his spine.
Victor couldn't help but let out a small chuckle, his eyes gleaming with a hint of mischief. "Maybe," he grinned, "I should also consider hunting humans as well..."
*********
Victor, adorned in his casual attire, adopted a cross-legged posture in his backyard, his eyes sealed shut as he plunged into deep concentration.
Bit by bit, a dark-purple aura enveloped him, compelling the rocks scattered around to float off the ground.
Sweat trickled down his forehead, an overt indication of the relentless depletion of his stamina.
Yet, Victor remained unwavering, resolute in his determination to hone his gravitational prowess, to ascend to unprecedented heights of strength.
The gravitational pull he manipulated seemed to converge around him, lending a sensation of immense weight pressing against him.
Despite the strain and looming exhaustion, Victor remained defiant, cognizant of the fact that with every passing second, he was inching closer to mastering this formidable force.
The gentle zephyr kissed his face, providing fleeting relief from his exhaustive endeavour.
As Victor persevered to breach his boundaries, he sensed a growing refinement in his control over gravity, an increasing precision in his manipulations. With each intake of breath, he summoned his inner fortitude to withstand the escalating pressure.
Fully aware that mastery over this power was paramount to his survival in this perilous world, Victor remained tenacious, his determination unyielding, as he endeavored to tame the force of gravity.
With a profound exhale, Victor fluttered his eyes open, immediately struck by the sight before him.
The formidable gravitational force he had been generating had not only elevated the surrounding stones, but also induced visible distortions in the immediate air and ground.
Trees and flora appeared to lean inwards, drawn towards the center of the gravitational pull, and even the topography of his own backyard seemed to bear the brunt of the immense pressure, appearing slightly distorted.
"Wow, I didn't anticipate this," Victor remarked, his voice a blend of awe and apprehension. He surveyed the aftermath of his rigorous training, coming to terms with the vast potential of the power he wielded.
A cocktail of excitement and dread washed over him as he grappled with the ramifications of such a potent capability.
"Could I possibly summon meteors or elevate a city with a mere flick of my hand?" Victor mused aloud, a grin stretching across his face.
Steadfast in his decision to continue refining his skills, Victor granted himself a moment to regain his breath before plunging back into his training. With a newfound reverence for the gravitational power pulsating within him, he steadied his focus and steeled himself to push his limits even further.
**********
As the shroud of darkness unfurled across the sky, Victor, now garbed in apparel befitting combat and forest exploration, steeled himself to venture back into the Wildwood forest to pursue monstrous quarry.
With a mere 17 days remaining before the anticipated awakening of superpowers and the impending academy entrance examination, he had no room for complacency.
Mirroring the previous day, he maneuvered his car to the sleepy Fusu village and left it stationed there.
As he ambled towards the forest entrance, his path was abruptly halted by an elderly figure, donned in a flowing white beard.
"You should stop there, young man," the old man said gently, yet firmly.
Victor felt a bead of sweat trickle down his neck. Merely being in the presence of the old man made him feel an overwhelming sense of threat. This old man was undoubtedly no ordinary human.
Despite his unease, Victor tried to remain calm. "Why am I not allowed to enter?" he inquired.
"The Emberwing academy students are taking a survival test in the Wildwood forest. I can't permit a kitten to tread into a lion's den," the old man explained.
Victor raised one eyebrow, his interest piqued by the old man's words. Emberwing Academy is one of the best academies in the England empire, not far from Leyndell academy, even on par.
"So, you're saying that the Emberwing academy students are taking exams in the forest?" Victor queried.
He couldn't hide his curiosity. If he could get inside the Wildwood forest, he could test his strength against one of them.
Or even steal their abilities...
"Did my words fall on deaf ears? Withdraw, young one," the elder admonished.
Victor was slightly displeased by the old man's words, taking offense. However, he couldn't afford to express his annoyance lest he risked incurring the old man's wrath.
Observing Victor's reaction, the old man stroked his beard, clearly sensing that Victor was offended. He scrutinized Victor from head to toe, noticing not only his striking appearance but also a faint sense of familiarity.
'Let's see what he'll do,' the old man mused to himself, intrigued by Victor's next move.
Victor's hand grazed his chin, his gaze sweeping over the vast expanse of the Wildwood forest. After a moment of deliberation, he shook his head in resignation and pivoted, withdrawing from the forest entrance.
The old man narrowed his eyes and sighed, feeling a twinge of disappointment that Victor hadn't put up a fight.
"Perhaps he..."
His musing was abruptly cut short as Victor whirled around and darted into the forest at an astounding speed!
"That brat!" The old man seethed with anger, and hastily pursued Victor.
As he entered the forest, a blue aura enveloped him and he took to the air.
However, Victor's trail seemed to have vanished, and the old man was unable to sense his presence.
"Slippery rascal, where did he go?" the old man muttered under his breath.
He scanned the surrounding area once more but still found no trace of Victor.
Eventually, the old man conceded defeat and descended to the ground.
"Just a kid, he'll die when he meets one of my students. How careless," he grumbled, his voice laced with a blend of frustration and resignation.

"Pant! Pant!"
Victor panted heavily after sprinting at full speed. His heart pounded in his chest, and he lay down on the forest floor, attempting to catch his breath.
As he had chosen to utilize the Paws Step skill, his strides were both swifter and silent, allowing him to evade the old man's pursuit. However, the exertion of running at such a breakneck pace had left him utterly spent.
Regardless, he harbored no regrets. Despite his fatigue, a sinister grin spread across Victor's face as he stood up, a wicked gleam in his eyes.
"Now, let's see what these precious Emberwing academy students are made of."
