Jim stood and looked at the ashes of Jack's lodge. The fire crew had found a body in the kitchen area. It was no accident. He could see the fire trails to the outbuildings. The gas in the shed must have been tipped over because little was left of that building but splinters and the blackened hulks of the machinery.

It didn't make any sense. Nothing had been taken. All the machinery was accounted for. Jim had Dusty with him and as far as the guide could tell everything was there. Dusty found something else odd as well. While he checked the buildings, he'd found a track leading to the woods. He showed Jim.

"Right there." Dusty pointed at a spot on the ground. "Someone stood and watched the fire before walking away. I could follow the trail a little way, but I lost it when he crossed some rock".
