章節 53: Chapter 53: Martial Soul Fusion Skill and Soul Bone

The seven-colored dragon gazed coldly at the fallen Dark Gold Dreadclaw Bear, its eyes merciless, unaffected by the bear's desperate plea.

The dragon raised its multicolored, scale-covered claw, which gleamed with a radiant flow of light, and struck without hesitation. The primal instinct to survive drove the bear to its feet, raising its massive claws that had once torn countless prey apart to meet the dragon's strike.

A sharp cracking sound echoed. The bear's tiny eyes flickered with disbelief, dimming as life faded. The dragon's claw had overpowered the bear's defenses, piercing directly through its heart.

With a flicker of satisfaction in its eyes, the dragon retracted its claw, emitting a radiant silver glow that gradually engulfed its entire form. Moments later, the seven-colored dragon dissolved, leaving behind a boy holding a girl, descending gently to the ground within a shroud of silver light.

They looked at each other, lost in the moment.

"How long are you going to keep holding me?" Gu Yue turned her face away, her cold tone hiding a hint of vulnerability. Though visibly weak, her cheeks were tinged pink, and her voice trembled slightly.

Jing Shaoyu chuckled, releasing her, mindful of the control room's cameras and the need for restraint. "Sorry, you're just too comfortable to let go."

"Humph!" Gu Yue snorted, casting him a sidelong glance before stepping back and pressing the distress signal, exiting the Spirit Ascension Platform.

Watching her disappear, Jing Shaoyu sighed. This was the first time they had executed their martial soul fusion skill, and it had been remarkably effective, showing immense potential.

Their fusion skill, called "Primal Dragon God Manifestation," allowed them to merge their strengths into the Primal Dragon God. At their current level, this entity was powerful enough to rival a typical Soul King. It far surpassed the strength of Zhang Yangzi and Wang Jinxi's Dark Eagle Dragon fusion.

Jing Shaoyu's gaze settled on the Dark Gold Dreadclaw Bear's corpse. As a Spirit Ascension Platform guardian, he recalled it likely contained a hundred-year soul bone as part of its construction.

Pondering this, he quickly absorbed the spiritual energy coiled around the bear's body. During the process, a dark-gold light flowed with the energy and entered his body. A faint shimmer of dark-gold light briefly appeared on the back of his right hand.

Once he had absorbed all the energy, Jing Shaoyu opened his eyes, a hint of joy flashing in his gaze. He could feel the changes in the bones of his right hand—the dark-gold light was undoubtedly the hundred-year Dark Gold Dreadclaw Bear's right palm bone, and he had successfully fused it.

However, something puzzled him. Given the bear's fierce nature, absorbing its soul bone should have been far more challenging. Characters like Tang Wulin and, centuries earlier, Xiao Xiao and Huo Yuhao, had all endured great pain to absorb a similar soul bone. Yet he hadn't felt any discomfort. He wondered if it was due to his martial soul or perhaps even Gu Yue.

Unable to find a clear answer, Jing Shaoyu pressed the distress signal to exit the Spirit Ascension Platform.

As he stepped out of the login pod, everyone in the room fixed their gaze on him. For two Spirit Masters to combine their martial souls to such an extent that they could easily defeat a Dark Gold Dreadclaw Bear was a testament to their incredibly high martial soul compatibility—likely above ninety percent. Moreover, it underscored that both had top-quality martial souls, for only superior martial souls could yield such formidable results.

If they continued to grow stronger, their fusion skill would only become more potent, potentially earning them renown across the Federation.

Some staff members exchanged glances, considering bringing the two into the Spirit Pagoda. But before they could act, Wu Zhangkong's icy gaze fell upon them, snapping them out of their thoughts.

Gu Yue glanced at Jing Shaoyu with an expressionless face, as though she were meeting a stranger.

Xu Xiaoyan, though carrying unspoken words in her heart, managed a cheerful smile when she looked at Jing Shaoyu, concealing any traces of sadness.

"Let's go; we'll talk back at the academy," Wu Zhangkong said.

With that, Class Zero boarded the spirit bus back to the academy.

The atmosphere on the bus was awkward. Between Wang Jinxi and Zhang Yangzi's unresolved tension, and the complex dynamic among Jing Shaoyu, Gu Yue, and Xu Xiaoyan, Xie Xie felt uncomfortably out of place. He looked around, eager to break the silence, but a single glance from Wu Zhangkong stopped him.

Meanwhile, atop the Spirit Pagoda's Eastern Sea Tower, a striking woman listened as Ji Changming reported, her eyes glimmering. "So, Jing Shaoyu absorbed the Dark Gold Dreadclaw Bear's right palm bone?"

"Yes, Your Grace," Ji Changming replied, suppressing a sigh of resignation. The bear's right palm bone was a cornerstone of the Eastern Sea Tower's Spirit Ascension Platform. He asked, "Lady Tianfeng, what should we do now?"

"Not to worry," the woman replied, her smile as captivating as ever. "I've arranged for the Emerald Swan's right leg bone to replace it and stabilize the platform. As for that palm bone, arrange for Jing Shaoyu to meet me in a few days."

"Yes, Your Grace!" Ji Changming's eyes lit up with delight as he bowed.

"Very well. You may leave," she said.

"As you wish." Ji Changming exited the office.

The woman's face softened into a radiant smile. "Such surprises you bring me, young one… a martial soul fusion skill." She was none other than Phoenix Douluo, Leng Yaozhu.

Back at the Eastsea Academy's Class Zero classroom, Wu Zhangkong stood at the podium, his face impassive as he announced the Spirit Ascension Platform results. "Everyone achieved a perfect score for this midterm assessment."

"Yeah!" Xie Xie cheered, and the others smiled despite the lingering tension.

"Don't get too excited yet," Wu Zhangkong said, cooling the mood instantly. "You still have one more test. Fail this, and you'll lose your vacation."

"Aww!" Xie Xie groaned.

"You may rest for now," Wu Zhangkong added. "Tang Wulin, Wang Jinxi, Zhang Yangzi—come with me."

"Yes, sir!" The three responded, exchanging uneasy glances. Wang Jinxi and Zhang Yangzi's bond had grown strained due to their failed fusion, and Tang Wulin seemed remorseful, sensing the tension.

"Shaoyu, any idea what Teacher Wu wants with them?" Xie Xie asked.

"Probably about Yangzi and Jinxi's fusion issue," Jing Shaoyu replied with a sigh. "It wouldn't be surprising if we don't see them next term."

"What?!" Xie Xie gaped in shock, drawing the attention of Xu Xiaoyan and Gu Yue.

"It's quite likely," Jing Shaoyu continued thoughtfully. "Jinxi's martial soul was affected by Wulin's bloodline, making fusion with Yangzi impossible. Losing their fusion ability is hard for both to accept. To preserve their friendship and future, transferring might be their best option."

"This… it's so sudden," Xie Xie murmured, struggling to accept it. He'd grown close to these classmates, and the thought of Zhang Yangzi and Wang Jinxi leaving was painful.

"Shaoyu, how did you and Gu Yue manage a martial soul fusion?" Xu Xiaoyan asked, smiling yet clearly curious.

But Jing Shaoyu could sense the sadness behind her calm tone. Gently patting her head, he replied, "Don't overthink it."

"Ah! You're messing up my hair, Shaoyu!" Xu Xiaoyan grumbled, brushing his hand away. Though she seemed to be talking about her hair, a deeper complaint lay beneath her words.

Jing Shaoyu could only smile wryly in response.
