章節 18: Thinking Too Much

It's been two weeks since Allen came to town, but his shadow did not appear after that. Violet didn't want to think about him. However, Lucy kept querying about the guy.
"Child, when will your husband visit again?"
"Grandma, you should not mention someone insignificant to us." Violet immediately answered, then dropped the subject. However, the older lady is persistent.
"I know you were thinking about your husband. Why don't you ring him and invite him to have dinner with us and stay overnight?"
Sipping her bowl of soup, Violet burnt her tongue when she had to swallow the hot liquid all of a sudden. "Grandma? How often will I tell you that Allen is not my husband? He isn't even my boyfriend in the first place."
"Child, if you had a misunderstanding, you should have talked about it. I'm sure you both can settle the matter. Remember, dear child. Love conquers all."
Violet widened her eyes, stupefied the further she listened to her grandma spouting this sweet phrase. These three words were actually one-of-a-kind cheesy lines for a novel to quote. "Love conquers all."
"Grandma, there is nothing to talk about because we are not in a relationship," Violet explained repeatedly, but the older lady insisted on what she wanted to believe in.
"You were still mad at him. That is why you were saying this. Don't worry. Once the two of you talk it over, things will be even sweeter." Lucy smiled at her granddaughter and patted the back of her hand before she resumed eating.
Violet did not retort, as her grandmother would never believe she and Allen had no relationship.
No matter what she would explain to the older lady, she would only counter it beautifully with her wise phrases. Since it was that way, Violet stopped racking her head to look for a believable statement to make her grandma stop bringing up Allen.
When she thought her grandma finally stopped bringing up Allen, then...
"That child is wonderful, like your dad. Bear that in mind, Violet." Lucy stated, causing Violet to choke on her food.
Knitting her brows out of frustration, she protested immediately, "Grandma, that guy would never be like dad!"
Knowing her dad, he was super romantic, a gentleman, and magnanimous! He showered his wife with everything, like if only he could give her the world he already did. Anyway, they have their own world, so it is considered that her dad did it already. Honestly, sometimes it makes her envious of how much love her parents have shared. And she is proud that they were her parents.
She had never heard that her dad had a scandal in the past. Even her grandma Lucy always speaks highly of her son-in-law. Thus, Violet is grateful that her dad is faithful.
Her mom's clear eyes exhibited how she was always over the moon and in love. And witnessing such a great marriage between her parents, Violet wondered if she could experience that kind of happiness.
Therefore, she could not accept that Allen would compare to her dad Theo because that guy is not trustworthy.
'Grr...' Violet snapped herself. She cringed, thinking of him. 'Why would I always think of that guy? He only irks me!' She keeps cussing inwardly after the scene of Allen kissing her flashes into her mind. She shook her head and buried the thought.
After eating, she went to the enclosed lanai and lounged. While doing so, she checks on Flora's reports. She opened the files with a red notice reporting her vitals. Flora recorded when her heart rate increased and her blood pressure rose.
Reading the report, Violet frowned. The AI constantly monitors her moods and temper 24/7. Sometimes, she wondered if allowing an AI to keep her in check was good.
Even the time when her heart flutters, the AI would diagnose it. And if she were fuming with rage, the AI would remind her to chill like the last time Allen kissed her, and she was angry.
Sometimes she suspects that this is unusual behavior for an AI. Instead, she found it suspicious, and this was all Allen's doing. The more she thinks of it, the more it upsets her.
Precisely, it was that guy's other way of bullying her by controlling her temper. After all, he was the one who developed Crow Technology and designed all of their AI and robot machines. He could do anything to the AI's system.
Violet wondered if she could ask someone other than Allen to check on Flora to determine if her AI's system was the same as all the AI they've built.
Therefore, once she discovers that Allen did this on purpose because he wanted to make fun of her, she will definitely beat that guy until he becomes a pulp.
"Are you wishing for him to appear from the sky?"
Violet's train of thoughts was interrupted when a baritone voice spoke from behind her. She looked up to find a handsome man holding a mug of hot chocolate.
"Here, have some. The weather is chilly today." The guy flashed a smile as he placed the mug on the table in front of her.
Violet thanked the blond guy with glee who had sexy blue eyes that could flutter her heart, and a sweet smile would instantly appear on her lips. "Thanks, Victor!"
Victor nodded, then took the empty chair across from her and lounged comfortably. After sipping his mug, he stared at Violet and then queried, "So, have you missed him so much already that you didn't notice my approach?"
"Quit it! Why would I?" She denied. "I'm just thinking about something else."
Of course, there is no way she would admit to Victor that she was actually thinking about Allen.
"Something else like what? Don't tell me you have someone you like the way you always reject Allen's charm?"
Violet dropped her mouth open. She gaped at Victor with disbelief. How come Victor teases her out of the blue? It was not his typical attitude toward her at all.
"His charm?" she scoffed and rolled her eyes. "That guy has no charm at all! I actually wondered if those women were blind. What is so good about him? Even how wealthy he is, it doesn't interest me!"
She was saying this to defend herself, also based on what she'd witnessed in the past of how the women would do anything to gain his attention, which was a ridiculous demeanor for her.
That guy is such a player. Allen was wrong if he thought she would quickly fall on his flirty advances. Even if he did kiss her already, she would never be interested in him.
Last time, he won to irate her because she did not raise up her guard enough. Next time she would keep an armed length from him for safety purposes. Perhaps, she could bully him in return. But how?
Violet was fuming in her chair when she could not devise a perfect plan to counter Allen's bullying. She thought she had forgotten Allen's bullying her, but she was wrong. Thus, she must settle a score with him the next they meet!
Violet was lost in her thoughts; she didn't notice how Victor was entertained scrutinizing the complicated expression on her face.
Victor pulled the corner of his mouth as he knew what was running in Violet's head. She often would narrate how she hated Allen. But sometimes, a person's irritation toward someone is meant for something else.
"Dear, even if Allen is penniless, I'm sure women would be willing to be his sugar momma. How about you? Aren't you interested in him?" Victor grinned when Violet stared at him with her big, round gorgeous green eyes. So he added, "I'm sure you are aware that in comparison to those women, you are far richer than them. They don't have that much power when it comes to family influences. You are superior among them all, and you can easily step on them and claim your man."
Violet was in disbelief that Victor would urge her instead of discouraging her from liking Allen. Thus she snapped, "I wonder who your friend really was. Is it me or Allen?"
Victor chuckled. "I'm just telling the truth! If I were Allen, I would definitely seduce you!"
"Ew! Gross!" Violet mouthed and acted like she wanted to vomit.
"Hey! You were bullying me! Allen is only ahead of me with one shower, so our handsomeness is almost on the same level. Just 0.01 milliliters difference."
Violet laughs on her stomach as Victor spouts nonsense. If the guy doesn't have a boyfriend, she would think that Victor is hitting on her.
"Alright, whatever!" Violet stopped laughing. Thanks to Victor's jest, she dried the moisture in her eyes as she was tearing up from laughing.
Now that she chilled out, Violet straightened her back and drank the chocolate half of her mug.
"I'm going to Mainland City next week. Would you like to hit the road with me?"
"What's the agenda?" asked Victor after he pondered for a moment.
"I made an appointment to meet someone from Crow Tech, so you can accompany me if you have nothing to do by then."
"Ah… Why do you want me to be the third wheeler if you meet with Allen?" Viktor pouted, although he sounded teasing Violet.
She snapped, "I'm not meeting Allen! It was Doctor Randy Lao whom I have an appointment with."
"Oh. Is there any difference? Allen is Doctor Lao's boss. Meeting his subordinate is like meeting the boss." he grinned and winked at Violet, which stupefied her.
How come her friend would continue teasing her this way?
"Huh? It's not! What are you? Team Allen?" Violet glared at the guy, casting a suspicious look at how he sided with her archenemy this whole chapter. She could not help not being pessimistic.
'What if Victor is actually Allen's minions? Could it be possible that Allen sends someone to speak highly about him? Grr! That guy. What is his main intention if it is?'
She could not pull her head over with every fact. She met Victor under accidental circumstances. Since the guy did so much for her, she slowly trusted him.
So what if Victor actually knows Allen in person and just pretended that he didn't know him personally? But why is he pushing her toward Allen?
Ah! She's thinking too much again. Probably, this is the effect of her plotting too much of her new story.
Violet came to her senses when she received a crucial email. She opened her computer hologram and read the content. She smiled when Randy assented to her request for a meeting.
"Alright! Doctor Lao had accepted my appointment. You come with me?"
