The roaring sea, unsettled by the war to come, churned violently as Marineford loomed large on the horizon. Luffy stood at the bow of the stolen ship, eyes set on the distant battlefield where countless lives clashed. His heart pounded with the singular thought: Ace. Nothing else mattered. The sky above was a boiling cauldron of dark clouds, thickening with the rising tension. Yet, through it all, a faint grin tugged at Luffy's lips, even as his body began to pulse with a power that few could comprehend.
Gear 5.
It wasn't something he had fully mastered, not yet, but the urgency of the moment demanded it. His rubbery skin twisted and distorted in unnatural ways, his hair turning white, standing up as if defying gravity. His entire body seemed to vibrate with energy, ready to spring into any shape or form his imagination could conjure. He could feel the chaotic, unrestrained power surging through him, threatening to overwhelm his senses, but he held it together. The stakes were too high to lose control now.
The ship slammed into the shore, wooden planks creaking under the impact. Luffy leaped off the ship without hesitation, landing on the battlefield with a loud crash that sent a shockwave rippling through the ground. His mere presence was enough to draw the attention of both Marines and pirates alike, their eyes widening in disbelief.
"That's Straw Hat Luffy!" a Marine shouted from atop the wall, his voice trembling. "But… what's happened to him?!"
Luffy stood in the crater formed by his landing, his body twisting and morphing as his muscles bulged and contracted, seemingly at will. His skin was glowing with an ethereal light, eyes wide and glowing with the intensity of advanced observation haki. Every heartbeat felt like an explosion of power within him. He could see everything — every movement, every shift in the battlefield, as though the world had slowed down just for him.
In an instant, he vanished.
A split second later, he reappeared directly in front of a squad of Marines. Before they could even register his presence, his fist expanded to an enormous size, coated in advanced armament haki, and slammed into the ground. The force of the impact was like an earthquake, sending Marines flying in every direction. Dust and debris filled the air as Luffy stood, unharmed, in the center of the chaos.
"I don't have time for this!" Luffy yelled, his voice carrying across the battlefield.
His mind was focused on one thing: reaching Ace. He could feel Ace's presence somewhere ahead, his haki guiding him toward his brother. But the battlefield was a labyrinth of violence, and the closer he got, the more powerful the opponents became.
Suddenly, a blur of yellow light flashed in front of him. Kizaru. The Marine Admiral appeared, hovering just above Luffy with his usual nonchalant expression.
"Oh? You've made it this far, Straw Hat Luffy? But you're still in over your head," Kizaru said lazily, raising his hand as light particles began to gather.
Luffy narrowed his eyes. His advanced observation haki kicked in, and in that instant, he saw it — the exact trajectory of Kizaru's attack. Time seemed to slow to a crawl as Luffy twisted his body, contorting it in a way that defied logic. Kizaru fired, a beam of light speeding toward Luffy, but he bent his body at an impossible angle, letting the beam pass harmlessly by.
"Damn it! Just let me through!" Luffy roared as his arm stretched back, blackened with armament haki, before launching forward like a cannon. His fist slammed into Kizaru's chest, sending the light-based admiral crashing into the ground with a thunderous impact. The ground shattered beneath him, but Kizaru simply dematerialized into light and reappeared several meters away, a bored look still on his face.
"Well, well, you've gotten faster, Straw Hat," Kizaru remarked, brushing dust off his coat. "But speed alone won't save you here."
Before Luffy could respond, another powerful presence filled the air — one that sent a shiver down his spine. Conqueror's haki. It washed over the battlefield like a tidal wave, knocking out weaker soldiers and pirates in its path. Luffy immediately recognized it. Whitebeard.
The old man, towering like a giant, was in the distance, his bisento cleaving through Marine after Marine as if they were nothing. His haki was so overwhelming that it seemed to warp the very air around him. Luffy paused for a moment, his breath catching in his throat. Even with Gear 5 and his advanced haki, the sheer presence of Whitebeard was enough to make him hesitate.
But Luffy clenched his fists, determination burning in his eyes. He couldn't afford to stop now. Whitebeard was fighting his own battle, and Luffy had his own mission. Ace. He had to save Ace.
"I don't care who gets in my way," Luffy muttered to himself, his body beginning to twist and stretch again as he prepared to launch himself forward. "I'm getting my brother back."
Without warning, a massive shadow loomed over him. Sentomaru, with his massive axe, brought it crashing down toward Luffy's head. Luffy's eyes flashed, and in the blink of an eye, he was gone, reappearing behind Sentomaru in an instant. His leg, coated in advanced armament haki, swung upward in a wide arc, connecting with Sentomaru's chest and sending the massive man flying.
Luffy didn't stop to see the result. He was already moving, his mind and body in perfect sync, powered by his advanced observation haki. Every movement of his enemies, every attack, every obstacle was already mapped out in his mind. He twisted, dodged, and weaved through the battlefield like a force of nature, leaving chaos in his wake.
As he surged forward, closer to the center of the battlefield, Luffy's conqueror's haki flared uncontrollably. Marines and pirates alike fell unconscious as the sheer force of his willpower overwhelmed them. It was a signal to everyone: Luffy had arrived.
And he wasn't leaving without his brother.
